1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Custom Built Secret Service Limousine on 2040-cars
Tampa, Florida, United States
Up for Auction is a custom built one of a kind 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood open top Limousine I have had in my collection for a few years that was originally built for the U.S. Secret Service as a follow up car by S&S Coachbuilders. Same coachbuilders that worked with Cadillac on the Clinton Armored Presidential Limousines. It is very unique with three openings in the roof for riders to stand up and view everything around them. This vehicle started its life as a rear
wheel drive Cadillac Fleetwood Sedan.
This is the last year of the rear wheel drive Fleetwood Cadillac.
FEAUTURES: It was stretched 48 inches in the middle behind the driver doors. The rear compartment is double the size of a factory sedan. It has a rear facing middle seat and two middle doors with concealed door handles in the frame and no exterior door handles. The middle exterior looks like a standard limousine with no door handles. Hidden openers are in the front driver and passenger door frame. The most unique feature of this limousine is its roof and rear compartment. The roof is steel reinforced and has three cut outs for people to stand up in and stick there head (and weapons out). One opening is narrow and above the driver compartment. The rear compartment has two huge openings (see pictures) with grab handles in between. The roof is finished in vinyl and it is like new. It also has a snap on black canvas cover if weather is inclement. That can be folded up and put in the trunk when not in use. This vehicle was built under specifications by the Secret Service and delivered in 1995 and decommissioned right after 9-11 because it is NOT armored. They went to all armored SUVS as follow up cars. After that it was used at their training center as a training vehicle. I bought it from a dealer in PA in 2012. I had it repainted, new carpet, new headliner, new vinyl top. Rest was perfect. This is a
gorgeous ride and would be awesome in someone's collection. Or to promote a business, weekend touring, site seeing, charity
promotions, vineyard tours, city tours, historic tours, a real estate business
and of course parades. OR what i use it for just cruising to car shows and
driving on sunny weekends. You can fit six people in the back compartment
comfortably. In case it rains there is a snap on black canvas weatherized top that covers the entire roof.
Everything is perfect and looks like new. Has brand new chrome emblems all around and Cadillac marker lights on the sail panel. Grab handles are on the roof in case you want to stand up and much more.
THIS IS A
HEAD TURNER. You will NEVER see another one pull up next to you and this one is
in mint condition. THIS VEHICLE
HAS just 46K miles on it!!!! THAT IS RIGHT JUST 46 THOUSAND ORIGINAL MILES.
Mechanically for the gear heads, this Cadillac came from the factory with the
formidable Corvette LT-1 V-8 Engine and
matched automatic transmission which Cadillac borrowed from Chevrolet to give
unbelievable power to this huge rear wheel drive car. This model is the last rear
wheel drive model Cadillac built. The engine is the same engine as the Corvette
of this year. Power is unreal and the ride is incredible. All the
chrome on the vehicle is showroom new. The exterior features lighted flag
stands on the front fenders. All badging is brand new chrome because when we got it had none on it. There are a total
of six doors that open but the middle doors have no door handles for a clean
and finished limousine look. INTERIOR DESCRIPTION The front driver’s compartment is finished in original black leather and it is in very good shape with no rips or tears. The front interior has perfect and original leather and original carpet and mats in excellent condition. The car looks new inside and out with all original gauges, AC and everything works. There is a high power air conditioning system for the rear with vents along the roof line. The rear
compartment is brand new in all aspects. The middle seat faces the rear. the rear seat has head rests and has air conditioning
vents on the headliner around the sides. The entire interior is like new
and carpet is brand black with absolutely no wear anywhere. All door panels are like new
condition. The interior and exterior shows absolutely no wear at all. The front
compartment is factory with the addition of flag stand light switch (never ever
fly the American Flag at night without lighting it) and interior special light
package switch. There are
two air conditioning systems in the vehicle with controls in the front for the
factory air and the rear air conditioning system that has vents under the
middle and rear seats for use to cool passengers during long parades. White wall
tires are excellent with 70% left on them and like new Cadillac Factory Chrome Correct
Rims. The trunk is like factory with brand new full size spare, jack. Interior
Coach Features include: - rear facing middle seat. - interior grab handles -separate heat and AC for the rear compartment controls in dash -air conditioning vents and ducts at the roof line. -Interior
lighting package to light up inside during parades. Exterior

This car is the ultimate one of a kind car to cruise around in. It turns heads and wins awards everywhere it is shown. |

Meet the mother-daughter team that's worked on almost every Chevy Volt
Sun, May 11 2014It's Mother's Day, and we're soft enough we love our mothers enough to share a new video from General Motors with you. In it, we meet Monique Watson (left) and Evetta Osbourne, a mother-daughter team that works at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly where GM makes the Chevy Volt (along with all of GM's other plug-in hybrids: the Opel Ampera, Holden Volt and Cadillac ELR). The two work side-by-side and have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on almost all of those vehicles - nearly 80,000 of them - since GM started making the pre-production Volts in 2009. In a prepared statement, Watson said that she likes working next to her mom, day in and day out, and they the two are totally in sync when it comes to putting the 400-pound, 16.5-kWh packs into the vehicle undersides. They two can also share stories throughout the day, and Watson said, "The arrangement has absolutely improved our relationship." Osborne started working at Detroit-Hamtramck in 1999, Watson since 2006. If you're driving a Volt today, you probably have them to thank for doing a bit of the work putting your car together. See a short video of them in action below. It's Always Mother's Day for Detroit-Hamtramck Duo Mother, daughter install lithium-ion battery pack in nearly all GM electric vehicles 2014-05-08 DETROIT – For Detroit resident Evetta Osborne, every day is Mother's Day. That's because she literally works side by side with her daughter, Monique Watson, at General Motors' Detroit-Hamtramck assembly plant. They have installed the lithium-ion battery pack on nearly every Chevrolet Volt, Opel Ampera, Holden Volt, and Cadillac ELR since production began. In fact, apart from vacation days and an occasional sick day, the mother-daughter duo has installed almost every battery pack since the Volt was in pre-production in 2009. The ELR launched earlier this year. All told – including Ampera – that's more than 80,000 electric vehicles. "We're a good team and our relationship is secondary when it comes to performing our jobs – but it's great to work alongside my daughter, said Osborne, a mother of five. Because the battery packs weigh more than 400 pounds each, automatic guided vehicles – robotic carts that use sensors to follow a path through the plant – deliver them just as the vehicle body structures glide into position overhead. The carts then lift the T-shaped packs, and Osborne and Watson guide them into the chassis and secure each one with 24 fasteners.
MIT puts V2V technology on its 2015 Top Ten list
Thu, Mar 5 2015Of all the technologies swimming around the automotive world, it is vehicle-to-vehicle communication that the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has fished out as one of its Ten Breakthrough Technologies of 2015. It joined emerging tech like brain organoids, supercharged photosynthesis, and Project Loon on the list, and got the nod over autonomous driving because, as the MIT Technology Review wrote, V2V communication "is likely to have a far bigger and more immediate effect on road safety." How so? Because actual cars transmitting data like their location, speed, steering angle, and state of braking to one another at least ten times per second provides a greater degree of awareness than sensor readings and algorithms. The US Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have been working for years on standards and a regulatory schedule for introducing V2V to the marketplace, and Cadillac plans to incorporate V2V into at least one of its vehicles by 2017. Since we've begun the year with a number of stories of cars being hacked into, that got us wondering about the security of V2V communications. In a recent piece by our own Pete Bigelow on what motorists should know about getting their cars hacked into, he wrote that although cyber break-ins are extremely difficult, expensive, and time-consuming to do remotely, V2V is "one more conceivable avenue a hacker could use to impact multiple cars at a given time." So we spoke to Wilmington, Massachusetts-based Security Innovation about it. The automotive consultancy company has been working with the DOT since 2003 on V2V technology and the issues around it - namely security and privacy - and its chief scientist, William Whyte, is the technical editor of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 1609.2 standard outlining its security protocols. Those protocols are expected to be finalized by the DOT toward the end of this year and then come into effect in 2016, and the company's Aerolink product is the security solution Cadillac will use. Whyte said, "If you hack into a car, V2V is the hardest place to start," and Pete Samson, the general manager of Security Innovation's automotive team, said "There are ten or 12 alternate attack surfaces" around the car that would make much easier targets.
Cadillac moving to NY as separate business unit
Tue, 23 Sep 2014Cadillac is under new leadership, and the automaker is committed to turning itself (back) into a global luxury powerhouse. It's got a strong product offensive (of products currently in showrooms, and much more on the way), and now it will have a new location to call home.
Following earlier speculation, GM has confirmed that it is moving Cadillac's base of operations from Detroit to New York. Lest you think it might rent offices in the Chrysler Building (which is, after all, one of the tallest in the city), the new Cadillac global headquarters will be located in the Soho area with a "multipurpose brand and event space in conjunction with modern loft offices." The company is still evaluating which staff will move along with it to Manhattan, and which will remain in Michigan where technical operations will still be based.
The move from Detroit to New York is the first major change being instituted by new Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen, who previously undertook a similar shift in moving Infiniti away from Nissan headquarters to its own facility in Hong Kong. Ford had attempted a similar move in relocating its luxury portfolio under the Premier Automotive Group (which then included Lincoln, Mercury, Land Rover, Jaguar, Aston Martin and Volvo) from Dearborn to Irvine, CA, but ended up moving Lincoln (the last one still under the Ford umbrella) back to Michigan. Other luxury automakers like Audi (Volkswagen) and Maserati (Fiat) are headquartered away from their parent companies as well, but have a longer history of independent operation.
