1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham on 2040-cars
Camden, South Carolina, United States
Up for auction is a very nice, two-owner 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham bought new in Decatur, Alabama. I purchased the car from the family of the original owner and drove it to South Carolina where I live. This car has always been driven in the South, so there are no rust problems. The original paint color is Dark Adriatic Blue and has never been touched up or repainted. The car has never been in an accident, so there has never been any body work, and the car has always been garaged. The vinyl top is original and in excellent condition.
There are a few blemishes in the hood which look to be minor hail damage. There are also a few minor parking lot dings on the driver's door and left rear door, nothing which bothered me enough to have them repaired. Several sections of the upper side body trim are crinkled, which seems to be a normal pattern with this trim. All of the lower chrome body panels are intact and in excellent condition. The interior is fawn in color with leather seating areas. There is a minor tear in the vinyl lower section of the driver's seat next to the heated seat control. This minor damage was done by the original owner.
The car has all of the usual Cadillac luxury items which are in good working order. The only defects with the instrument panel are that the gas gauge has stopped giving an accurate reading, and the security system has been deactivated. I will have the gas gauge repaired this week. This car has been my daily driver for several years and has served me comfortably with an excellent A/C - heating system. The tires are about a year old and have approximately 10,000 miles on them. The full-size spare in the trunk has never been used and has a matching Cadillac wheel. The interior of the car is exceptionally clean and has never been smoked in. The CD player works as new with an excellent original speaker system.

Recharge Wrap-up: Cadillac CT6 Plug-In on sale in China, Oregon utilities spur EV adoption
Fri, Dec 30 2016The Cadillac CT6 Plug-In is now available in China. The luxury plug-in hybrid sedan uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine plus two electric motors, which give the car a 0-62 mph time of 5.4 seconds. Its liquid-cooled 18.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack gives the car an all-electric range of 50 miles, with a total range of 581 miles. Cadillac offers a 200V charger with the CT6 Plug-In, which provides a full charge in less than five hours. Owners can check charging status remotely using OnStar or the MyCadillac app. The CT6 Plug-In is offered in two variants, priced at about $80,400 and $94,800. Read more from GM. Two Oregon utilities are launching a program to increase EV adoption. Portland General Electric (PGE) will build six charging locations, each with up to four dual-standard fast chargers. PGE will also build and operate charging sites for electric buses, freeing up money for Portland's TriMet transit agency to spend on the actual buses. Pacific Power will also build public EV chargers, and lower some electricity rates for operators. Both companies will also work to inform the public about the benefits of electric mobility. Oregon utilities are required to stop using coal by 2030, and use 50 percent renewable energy by 2040, which will make EVs even cleaner. Read more at Green Car Reports. Continental says a shift to EVs will cost its company jobs. The automotive parts supplier's CEO, Elmar Degenhart, says that while the company will need to cut production jobs, those will be offset at least in part by the creation of new positions related to electric mobility. "There is enough time to design the process such that the blow is softened and major pain can be avoided," says Degenhart. Some 30,000 jobs at Continental are tied to combustion engines. GM outlines strategy for new products, growth in China
Wed, 01 Oct 2014
"Our strategic plan is a pathway to earn customers for life and create significant shareholder value in the process." - Mary Barra
General Motors laid out ambitious plans on Wednesday to become the world's "most valued automotive company," a goal it says it can reach by strengthening its business in China, rebuilding the Cadillac luxury brand and fixing the foundering GM Europe operations.
It's going to cost $12 billion to fix Cadillac
Wed, Apr 1 2015The Cadillac CT6's development predates Johan de Nysschen taking over at Cadillac, but the forthcoming flagship is the luxury brand's first major new product launch since the beginning of his tenure. The vehicle's debut also marks the beginning of a comprehensive $12 billion renewal plan bringing eight new vehicles in the next five years. Now, the former Audi and Infiniti exec is talking about joining Caddy and the company's future. "Cadillac will be a powerhouse global luxury brand that will command the respect of its peers," de Nysschen said about the forecast state of the company in 2020 to Bloomberg. He disclosed that three of those new vehicles under the five-year plan would be crossovers and reiterated that plug-in hybrids are on the way that would take advantage of the Chevrolet Volt's tech advances. De Nysschen also reminisced about joining Cadillac last year. He told Bloomberg that leaving Infiniti wasn't an easy decision, and there were apparently long conversations on the phone with General Motors President Dan Ammann discussing strategy for the luxury brand. De Nysschen was apparently clear that a greater investment and more autonomy from the corporate mother ship were vital. These days, the revitalization of Cadillac is just getting rolling. The company has a swanky New York office with a dedicated team to focus on the future. According to de Nysschen, the brand will grow its staff to around 150 people by the end of the year, compared to over 40 now. The marketing plan is to position the American luxury brand as a more distinctive product versus more common German rivals. It's going to be very interesting to see if this new Caddy can dare greatly enough to accomplish these lofty goals.
