1990 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham Base Sedan 4-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
Lebanon, Missouri, United States
If you want to turn heads, this car will certainly do it! This is rolling on 20" knockoff wire spoke wheels and has bull horns that go from fender to fender. The window tint is new and in good shape. This 1990 Cadillac Brougham has the factory fuel injected 5.7 engine. The motor runs reliably with no check engine lights. The transmission runs and shifts properly with no flaring shifts or issues. This car has brand-new Monroe Sensa-Trac shocks on the front and rear and also has new rear springs. The tires are good on the front and rear and don't have any leaks. The front tread is around 75% rear tread is around 50%. The car rides and handles surprisingly well. It gets 20-22 mpg on the highway. I drive it regularly on my 60 mile round trip to work and have not had any problems with it over the last year. Most of the gizmo's still work on the car, Cruise control, Twilight Sentinel, Cassette Deck, Locks, Windows, etc. The Bad: The climate control head needs to be replaced. The blend door and fan work and the AC compressor is a remanufactured unit. These climate control heads are about $30 at the scrap yards, and literally only take about 2-3 minutes to change. I just haven't run across a 90-92 Brougham in the junkyard since it quit working last fall. The vinyl top has lots of small cracks and discoloration. Two of the doors have an approximately 2" spot bubbling up around the body side molding, this is a typical issue from GM cars of this era. I have not seen any apparent rust issues with the rest of the car except on those doors, The floor pans, rockers, quarters, fenders don't have any apparent rust. Both front arm-rests are cracked, which is a common issue with these cars and you can get reproduction ones. The headliner is pinned up into place. I have a factory GM shop manual for this car that will be included. The lead-hammer and spanner wrench for the wheel spinners is included, and I have the stock wheels and tires that you can take if you want them. This car is a TON of fun, and these Brougham's seem to be getting more rare and valuable, but I simply have too many cars right now to even maintain them all. This car isn't perfect, but I will say that it has been a fun, reliable car that hasn't had a lot of hack-job repairs or jury-rigged wiring under the hood or dash. It wouldn't be a difficult car to restore if you wanted a nice Brougham, but it's also great if you want something nice enough to have fun with but you won't have to worry about every nick and scratch.
You can see an in-car video of this fine car on youtube. My user name on Youtube is hasty1982, you'll be able to find it in my videos.

Mary Barra thinks GM is a leader in autonomous tech
Thu, Oct 15 2015Saying General Motors is "among the leaders" in autonomous vehicle technology, CEO Mary Barra rapped about her company's driverless work in an interview with USA Today. Barra covered a number of topics, including well-known efforts, like Cadillac's upcoming Super Cruise technology, as well as hinting at "a lot of efforts that are confidential." "Things are moving quickly in autonomous [cars] because there's so many different pathways and the standards aren't even set. A lot of people can claim leads because people are making advancements in different areas," Barra said. "Next year we're going to have Super Cruise on one of our Cadillacs. On highways you'll be able to take your hands off the wheel and feet off the pedals – with a very creative way to make sure the driver is alert and involved in the driving process." As for those "confidential" efforts, feel free to speculate. GM has recently confirmed that it'd be running autonomous Volts at its Warren, MI tech center, which certainly indicates that the company is playing with much more than Super Cruise. GM will need to continue to embrace autonomous driving, owing to both traditional competitors like Toyota, as well as non-traditional opposition, like Google and Apple. Speaking of its competition from Silicon Valley, Barra was asked about two of the region's biggest names – Apple's Tim Cook and Tesla boss Elon Musk. "I have tremendous respect for Tim Cook, and I don't really think he needs advice from me," Barra told USA Today with a laugh. And when asked about Apple's future as a "viable competitor," she said, "I have no insights other than what I read in the papers. But it would be foolish for me not to assume that they're going to." As for Mr. Musk's openness about future products and how it contrasts with GM's relatively closed attitude, Barra also gave a chuckle. "I'm sure you would like me to say yes. I think we're fundamentally different. Look at our volume and look at the segments where we compete. His product line – his two products – his scale, it's completely different." The rest of Barra's interview is certainly worth a read, and includes talk about the Volkswagen diesel scandal, GM's changed relationship with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and Uber. Cadillac Elmiraj sedan RWD flagship finally caught testing
Wed, 22 Jan 2014While we still have no insight as to it being named Elmiraj, STS or some other permutation of the -TS nomenclature ("LTS" has apparently been registered by GM, as well), new spy shots give us proof positive that Cadillac is indeed hard at work on a rear-wheel-drive flagship model. Spied for the very first time in some north country testing, these shots provide a first look at the upcoming range-topper from Cadillac.
Impressively long and large bodywork ride atop new General Motors' corporate Omega rear-drive architecture here. Heavy cladding over camouflage may discourage finding any details, but the overall, sharp-edged and blocky design is clearly reminiscent of what we've seen on the new CTS and the recently debuted ATS coupe. A strong, wheels-at-each-corner stance helps emphasize the length of this stretched Caddy, and everything about the proportions seem spot-on for a new fullsize flagship for the brand.
It's quite possible that Cadillac will ultimately festoon this large sedan with detailing reminiscent of the original Elmiraj coupe, though thus far we've only seen prototypes wearing four-doors.
Hennessy wastes no time in supercharging the 2015 Cadillac Escalade
Wed, 23 Apr 2014The ink is still drying on the all-new 2015 Cadillac Escalade sales brochures, but that hasn't stopped Texas-based Hennessey Performance (HPE) from leaping out of the gate with its own high-performance variant. In stock form, the big fourth-generation Cadillac flagship arrives with a new small block naturally aspirated 6.2-liter Ecotec3 V8 delivering 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Fresh out of the showroom, the 5,900-pound SUV will sprint to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds.
While that is plenty fast for some owners, others don't want to be shamed by a 550 horsepower Mercedes-Benz GL63 AMG or a 510 horsepower Land Rover Range Rover Sport - both will leave the stock Escalade at a stoplight.
The team at HPE has come to the rescue with its HPE550 supercharger upgrade, which includes a belt-driven supercharger, air-to-water intercooler, recalibrated engine management software and a three-year/36,000 mile powertrain warranty. With 6 psi of boost, the direct-injected 6.2-liter is tuned to deliver an impressive 557 horsepower and 542 pound-feet of torque - gains of 32 percent and 18 percent, respectively, over stock. Although HPE isn't releasing performance figures as of yet, our math says that should be enough power to put the two Europeans in the Cadillac's rearview mirror. The company also offers a set of 20-inch lightweight H10 forged monoblock wheels, to further improve performance.
