1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham D'elegance Sedan 4-door 8.2l on 2040-cars
Ramona, California, United States
This 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham de Elegance is an original, San Diego car with no body rust. Comes with original bill of sale. I purchased the car from the original owners estate about two years ago, the original owner passed away about 12 years ago, the car sat in storage for 10 years before I purchased it. The original owner spent over $10,000 renovating the car in the late 1980's, it was driven very little after that, and not at all for the 10 years it was in storage. Receipts for work done are with the car. Mileage is believed to be the true original mileage, but no guarantees. Car is very clean, body is very straight, doesn't show any signs of having been wrecked. It was repainted with gloss black and clearcoat just before it went into storage. Paint is excellent except for a couple very minor blemishes and dings, as shown in the photos. 3 ea. Fleetwood emblems come with the car, they were never put back on after the car was painted. Interior has been completely redone, seats are black velour, and items that are usually subject to cracking on older Cadillacs, such as the dash, have been recovered in matching black vinyl. A couple of the door panel pieces and interior trim pieces still need to be attached more securely. There is one small blemish on the back seat that looks like a cigarette burn, as shown in the photos. Mechanically the car is sound, I've driven it for a couple 100 mile round trips in hot weather with no problems. When the car came out of storage, we changed the oil and trans fluid, flushed the cooling system, and installed new radiator hoses and thermostat, and flushed the fuel system with fresh gasoline. Car drives very well, has a slight stumble on initial acceleration, mechanic says the carb should be rebuilt due to the accelerator pump not working due to the years in storage. Car has passed California smog with no problems for Ca. purchasers. Climate control isn't presently working, it looks like the original owner was in the middle of a repair project on it when he passed away. This car isn't a show winning car, but's it's definitely a super clean driver - gets lots of approving nods on the road. |

Cadillac gives ATS, CTS new V6 for 2016
Sun, Oct 11 2015Replacing the existing 3.6-liter V6 in the Cadillac ATS and CTS is... another 3.6-liter V6. But this one promises higher output, while consuming less fuel, and making less noise. Like the V8s in the CTS-V and Escalade, it's got cylinder-deactivation technology to cut it down to a four-pot under lighter loads, as well as automatic stop/start, and comes mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The new engine produces 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque. That's a modest improvement over the 321 hp and 275 lb-ft mustered by the unit it replaces. But it also delivers an approximate improvement of nine percent in fuel economy and eight percent in carbon emissions. That's what we'd call a win-win, even if it's a modest one. Of course, those ATS or CTS buyers attracted to higher efficiency will still likely go for the 2.5-liter inline-four or the 2.0-liter turbo four. And those more inclined towards performance will be tempted by the 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 in the ATS-V or CTS Vsport – or the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 in the CTS-V, for that matter. But those customers looking for the best of both worlds will surely be pleased by the improvements the new atmospheric V6 and 8-speed gearbox bring to the table. Now as 2016 model year production begins, Cadillac adds new fuel-saving technologies. Active Fuel Management and Automatic Stop/Start technologies, and widespread use of a new 8-speed transmission, are combining to raise fuel economy ratings and reduce emissions in Cadillac's portfolio. Cadillac's all-new six cylinder engine contains Active Fuel Management, or cylinder deactivation, technology enabling it to seamlessly switch from six-cylinder to four-cylinder operation under certain light-load conditions, while maintaining excellent performance. The new 3.6-liter engine is part of the 2016 ATS and CTS product lines. Additionally, the Cadillac Escalade luxury SUV's V8 will shift to four-cylinder operation in many daily driving conditions, as will Cadillac's all-new high performance CTS-V sedan.
GM announces net 220 job increase as Trump visits Michigan
Wed, Mar 15 2017GM announced today that about 900 jobs would be added (or, importantly, retained) ahead of President Trump's arrival in Michigan, where he is expected to discuss his plan to roll back fuel economy standards. The timing of the announcement is almost certainly not coincidental, as appending it to a Trump visit gives it a higher profile and dovetails with the President's jobs agenda. It's less likely the decision itself was made for those reasons, but the free PR boost is a nice bonus. As for those 900 jobs themselves, they aren't all new jobs. The only net gain is approximately 220 jobs at the Romulus Powertrain Plant, which produces the 10-speed automatic transmission that's proliferating through the company's lineup. The 180 jobs at Flint Assembly and 500 jobs at Lansing Delta Township are retained jobs – that is to say, spots the company found for workers who would otherwise have been laid off. By the way, the Flint jobs will help with production of heavy-duty pickups, and the Lansing jobs are to produce the Chevrolet Traverse and Buick Enclave. Finding jobs for manufacturing workers in the auto sector, whether new or retained, is admirable. No matter how GM couches it, the company has created or retained a total of 7,000 jobs this year, and its total reinvestment in US production is around $1 billion. But these decisions are business ones, not political ones – timing the announcements to make them seem inspired by economic policy, or the political situation, is simply smart PR. Online Find Of The Day: 2008 Cadillac XLR picks up where Excalibur left off
Thu, 23 May 2013We try very, very hard to keep snark away from creations like the one you see here. After all, someone poured plenty of enthusiasm, time and money into turning a 2008 Cadillac XLR into a modern interpretation of the new-old cars typically done by cottage builders like Excalibur and Clénet. Even so, it's hard not to wince when you set an eye on this machine. With its wheelbase stretched to accommodate the extra bodywork, goofy sidewalls and upkicked nose (examine it in profile, it looks slightly bent in the middle), this "neoclassic" takes whatever was loveable about the Cadillac underneath and buries it in a tacky grave.
Miraculously, the engine bay has been left unmolested, which means the retractable hardtop convertible still features a 4.6-liter Northstar V8 engine good for 320 horsepower. If only that were enough to outrun its shame. If, for some reason, you feel like taking this thing home, Harry Kaufmann Motorcars of Milwaukee says it can be yours for a paltry $74,998. We wish were joking. Check it out here.
