Up for Auction is a beautiful example of American Luxury, a 1968 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special Brougham. This model Caddy was the flagship and most luxurious model of this year.  It was purchased new and owned solely by one woman and it spent its life in the warm sunny skies of Florida.  As you can tell by the pictures, the car is in excellent condition.  Everything works as it should, and she drives and shifts through the gears perfectly.  All windows, locks, lights work.  Back in l988,  the woman was planning on moving back to New England, so at just over 42,000 miles, she had the car completely restored by Palm Beach Cadillac (hence why the listed mileage is 99,999).  Unfortunately, she never made the trip, she passed away. The car was taken and prepared for storage, and put up on jacks and was left in a barn.  Fast forward 25 years.  The car was filled with fluids, tuned up, new battery and she runs like a dream.  The only thing that had to be done was to rebuild the front drum brakes, so now they are new.  The car is for sale locally (along with a 1971 Fleetwood that was her sisters car).  Auction could end early.  The l971 Fleetwood is listed separately on ebay.  The two caddys can be purchased as a pair or individually.

2013 Cadillac ATS Premium 2.0T 6MT

Wed, 06 Feb 2013

The new Cadillac ATS is an impressive sport sedan, often considered one of the most serious threats to the BMW 3 Series. Unlike GM's previous attempts, this four door brings aggressive styling, commendable chassis dynamics and class-leading handling to the highly competitive battle. And, like its daunting German foe, Cadillac offer several powertrain choices.
I recently spent time with the ATS 2.0T Premium on my home California turf. Fitted with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with a limited-slip rear differential, my tester was lightly optioned, with only a paint upgrade and a cold weather package. That brought the as-tested price to $46,305, configured the way I imagine most enthusiasts would prefer. This meant I fully expected to enjoy a week with a tossable sport sedan that boasted "fun-to-drive" as its middle name, but all was not well...

Why Cadillac is willing to lose 43 percent of its dealers

Sun, Sep 25 2016

Cadillac is offering about 400 dealers in the United States a lump sum of money to close down. That represents over 40 percent of Cadillac dealers in America. Offers start at $100,000 and top out at $180,000. The average offering is around $120,000. According to Automotive News, Cadillac chief Johan De Nysschen estimates it will cost the automaker around $50 million to close these dealers. Any dealer that chooses to remain open will have to submit to Cadillac's ambitious Project Pinnacle, which will divide dealers into incentive categories based on how many units they sell. "Every single Cadillac dealer will have the potential to earn significantly higher profits than they do today," says De Nysschen. Dealers have until November 21 to decide if they want to take the cash or submit to Project Pinnacle. A logical question: Why is Cadillac willing to spend $50 million to close down 43 percent of its dealers? First, GM's luxury brand has way more dealerships than it needs. Second, the 400 dealers with offers to shutter each sold 50 or fewer vehicles in 2015, representing just 9 percent of its sales volume in America. So, while closing these smaller dealerships may have a small initial impact on sales, it's not going to be a major hit to Cadillac. J.D. Power study sees new car dependability problems increase for first time since 1998

Wed, 12 Feb 2014

For the first time since 1998, J.D. Power and Associates says its data shows that the average number of problems per 100 cars has increased. The finding is the result of the firm's much-touted annual Vehicle Dependability Study, which charts incidents of problems in new vehicle purchases over three years from 41,000 respondents.
Looking at first-owner cars from the 2011 model year, the study found an average of 133 problems per 100 cars (PP100, for short), up 6 percent from 126 PP100 in last year's study, which covered 2010 model-year vehicles. Disturbingly, the bulk of the increase is being attributed to engine and transmission problems, with a 6 PP100 boost.
Interestingly, JDP notes that "the decline in quality is particularly acute for vehicles with four-cylinder engines, where problem levels increase by nearly 10 PP100." Its findings also noticed that large diesel engines also tended to be more problematic than most five- and six-cylinder engines.
