Description:
Up for auction is my 1965 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 special. This car is in great shape for an unrestored/unmolested classic..Its a 3 owner (Im the third) car thats been garage kept for a big share of its life, but is not a garage queen that just sits. The car gets driven about once a week and has tabs good through August 2014.So well over a year before it needs tabs again!
The car runs and drives very well.It burns no oil and runs strong with less than 90K original miles on the original 429 big block V8 and original transmission..She has a body thats solid as a rock, with nice chrome (no pitting).
Frame, floorpans, body panels,doors,windows,etc..all are in great shape.
Dont get me wrong.Shes not a show car.But it is great shape for a 48 year old unrestored car.
The doors line up and shut perfectly, the interior is nice, headliner looks great, all lights work (except for interior back reading lamps/bad bulbs?) ,dash is perfect, except its missing the small plastic climate censor grill (can be bought on ebay for a few bucks),seats are good with no rips, carpets look good for their age.All gauges work.
Car is equipped with factory AC,cruise control, power seats, power windows, power locks, climate control,etc..Also since this is the rare Fleetwood model,it also features back wing windows and a cab thats 3" longer than the Deville models. So an extra 3" of leg room in the back;)
Last month I took it into the shop to take care of a small tranny leak.Turned out it was just the yoke seal that needed some lube. While I was there,I had the exhaust replaced, brakes redone (not just the pads),oil changed, coolant changed, water pump replaced..I got receipts for all work that was done (close to $2K worth of work).None of it was urgent according to the mechanic, but was stuff that would need attention down the road,so I just went ahead and had it done while I was there.
New job/move forces sale.
Heres what the old gal has "wrong" with her:
:Power windows are a bit "iffy".The passenger side front works well. The drivers side front goes down well, but does not come back up well. The back windows,Ive never tried.
:Power steering pump makes noise when turning at slow speeds. Was gonna replace it,but mechanic said it wasnt needed.Car turns perfect and can be driven with your pinky finger if you choose. But down the road the pump will need replaced Id imagine.Pumps can be found on ebay for around $40
:The defroster does not work.Might be the fuse.I didnt fix this yet because its summer time. Will need attention before winter though.
:Car has factory AC but it dont work.
:Small black spot on upper corner of back seat.
:Section of fabric in the back near reading lamp on drivers and passenger side is stained.
:Some of the rubber around the doors is old and brittle around the top.The other rubber (door seals,etc..looks great)
:Needs a new paint job
(The paint is original and looks ok from a distance, but it had several tiny spots where the paint was chipped and bare metal was showing. So even though it doesnt look good,I took some paint to cover the areas where the small bare metal spots were,so they wouldnt rust..You can see an example in one of the photos of how the chipped paint looked before I covered it and how it looks after..The paint chips were very small (about dime size) ,but spread out over various places.Thats why I covered the whole surrounding area...The paint I used was not a perfect match (as you can see in pics) ,but my goal was to protect it,not make it look pretty necessarily. There are several spots like this on the trunk lid,a couple on the hood, and a couple on each side...Regardless,whether I left it as it was or painted the bare metal spots, the car still needs painted if you want a show car..So I figured better to have it protected,as oppose to not, even though the non matching paint looks a bit ugly.)
Also there is an area on the drivers side rear quarter panel where it looks to have been bumped at one time. Its barely noticeable unless your right up on it.As you can see in the side shot of the car,it doesnt show up in the pics.So I took a close up of it so you can see it..
Car is rust free, except for the back interior window trim and what appears to be mainly surface rust underneath the doors (see pics). The entire body on this car is incredibly solid!
Im guessing the back interior trim got rusty because of an old leak in the back window.
With the interior back window trim area,I took it off to make sure there wasnt rust under it and there wasnt. Its just the trim piece.Theres NOT even any rust around the back window exterior, which is rare on these old rigs!
The back window exterior trim was put in sloppy, meaning they glued it on at the bottom. When I took it off to make sure there was no rust and tried to put it back on,I ended up having to re-glue it at the bottom as well, because the previous owner put a rubber silicone type stuff around the clasp that holds it in place at the bottom.Im assuming to stop it from leaking. So it doesnt leak, but will need to be removed if you want the back trim to attach in the original manner.Alot of people wouldnt even mention this because its not noticeable just by looking. But I wanna point it out so buyers know exactly what they are getting.
Really the few things that are "wrong" with this old rig are just typical stuff thats easy to fix and is stuff alot of sellers would not even mention. If you notice, alot of Ebay adds for cars like this, offer nothing more than a short paragraph and dont really tell the buyer a whole lot.In reality, the car Im selling is probably as good,if not better condition than alot of similar cars on this site.Only difference is,Im giving as much info as possible on the rig Im selling (good and bad)
Even though Ive given this lengthy description to try and give as much info as I could. Its always possible I missed something. So if theres anything you can think of that I may have left out, just ask.I can take pics of any specific area of the car and send them to you.If live in Washington state or Oregon your welcome to come check it out in person. If your not in driving distance, then youll have to just look over the pics & videos and bid accordingly.Car is located about 75 miles south of Seattle. So if your close, your welcome to check it out before bidding

2021 Cadillac Escalade teases us with sliver of a design preview
Thu, Jan 23 2020We know the 2021 Cadillac Escalade will be breaking cover on February 4 to join its full-size GM truck compatriots. And now we know Spike Lee will have the honors of introducing the Cadillac at the Oscars through a short film he directed called “Anthem.” Cadillac also took the opportunity to tease the new Escalade's front end with this nugget of a preview. We get to see the grille, headlight and DRL design of the 2021 Escalade, staring daggers through Spike LeeÂ’s back in a studio. The grille is a traditional Escalade look, eschewing the grille design seen on more recent Cadillac SUVs like the XT6 and XT4. It uses larger silver bars that scythe across the front end as opposed to the mesh and speckled black/chrome seen on the Cadillac crossovers. Similar to the XT6, however, it does go with a horizontal main headlight and a vertical DRL. This marks a departure from the vertically-oriented headlights weÂ’re used to seeing on the biggest Cadillac. WeÂ’ll note that the bumper-width lower grille appears to be done in black, but thereÂ’s no shortage of chrome on this EscaladeÂ’s front end. Our best look at the interior is through a grainy video Cadillac teased to us about a month ago. ItÂ’s going to have 38 inches of curved screen, using OLED technology. ThatÂ’s going to be lovely to look at. The front end teased in this photo is plenty fine, too, but weÂ’re not seeing anything thatÂ’ll upset the apple cart from an exterior design perspective yet.
Semi-autonomous Cadillac CT6 has Batman's seal of approval
Fri, Nov 11 2016Earlier this year, Cadillac pushed the launch of its Super Cruise semi-autonomous technology back to 2017, but it looks like the automaker is still hard at work testing the system on its vehicles. Our photographers snapped a CT6 sedan with what appears to be the Super Cruise technology in broad daylight. The CT6 in the pictures, ignoring the massive equipment on the car's roof, appears to be stock. The barely camouflaged vehicle has more sensors on the front fascia and a black rear bumper, but other than those points, looks normal. Getting back to the massive piece of equipment on the CT6's roof. There's no way to definitively state what it is, but there appears to be four cameras on the corners of the rack. A sensor or camera is also fitted to the right side mirror, which is slightly camouflaged. With all of the wires from the roof going into the vehicle, there's a chance that the massive blacked-out piece of equipment on the roof could be used to gather data. While the equipment looks extremely scientific, someone at Cadillac must have a sense of humor, or be a huge fan of DC Comics, as a Batman's logo is prominently displayed on the roof-mounted gear. Cadillac announced its Super Cruise semi-autonomous technology two years ago. The system will be able to speed the car up, keep the vehicle in its lane, and slow it down. The goal, in 2014, was to introduce the technology in two years (2016), but the automaker delayed the tech until 2017.
