Thank you for your consideration in viewing this beautiful 1947 Cadillac Fleetwood.

This car is a reminder of a more special time in the US auto industry.  The Cadillac was one of the Quintessential cars of it's day.  It was owned by everyone from politicians to movie stars. To the American public Cadillac remained a symbol of prestige, success, luxury, and good taste.

As you will see from the pictures, the car shows extremely well, but by no means is this a 100 point car.  I acquired the car in 2006 from my neighbor who had himself owned the car since 1991, in which he purchased the car from Reno, NV.  Since my ownership I had all the chrome replated. I also purchased 5 new triple plate chrome sombrero wheel covers and center medallions. The car has the correct Firestone Bias ply 700-15 and correct wide whites.  This is an all matching numbers car.

Under the hood you will find an exceptionally clean 346 Flathead offers 150 hp. The car always starts right up and runs strong with no smoking issues.  The same engine that Cadillac believed in so much that it had a 12 year run from 1936-1948.  In addition, Cadillac helped in the war effort by supplying our military with this same engine in the M5 Stuart and the Sherman tank. I ran this car through this 4th of July parade and it ran perfect without any overheating issues in 90 degree temperature.  I also just recently took the car on a 300 mile round trip and it ran flawlessly.  Odometer shows 108,353.

The interior of the car is in excellent condition other than a slight faded spot in the upper drivers seat.  The head liner was replaced by the prior owner with the correct material. The oriental di-noc wood is amazing.  This Fleetwood has beautiful body lines and chrome appointments that the standard 4-door series 62 did not offer. From the fold down rear foot rest, extended rear seating quarters, chrome garnishes around inner windows, and outside the five upper quarter rear luvers.  All glass is in great condition with no separation, discoloration,  or cracks.

There are just a few scratches in the paint that I did not touch up.  Trunk has some freckling in paint. There is also a chip in front head light ring, roof has 1 in. slight dent, (barely noticeable), top of steering wheel and brake handle has some cracking (also barely noticeable), radio only works sometimes, blinkers do not work, clock does not work, speed odometer is inaccurate by 10 mph, wipers do not work, all other gauges work fine, spot lights work, heater works, horn works, and interior light works. The under carriage is very clean and shows no rust (with the exception of the bottom of the spare tire wheel well).

Last year I had front and back brakes completely redone including brake lines, master cylinder, and wheel cylinders.  2010 the carburetor, fuel pump, generator, starter, water pump were all rebuilt (even though some of those did not need to be rebuilt). Recently, front end had work done as well.   Door seal plates are in excellent condition. Trunk material has all been redone.  This car is an increasingly rare sight, so don't miss this opportunity to own this work of art.

I am a private owner that is starting to thin down my collection and feel that I have described this car as honestly and accurately as possible. I will be happy to give you a full walk around the car and give you a more detailed description and/or answer any questions you may have. Will provide additional pictures if requested.  A $1,000 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction's close.  The winning bidder is required to contact Seller within 24 hours after the close of the auction to finalize the details of the transaction.

I also reserve the right to end the auction at any time.  This vehicle is sold "AS IS" and with no warranties expressed or implied. Buyer is responsible for pick up and/or all shipping fees. Please come and see the car for yourself or send your inspector. Bid with confidence. Feel free to call me with any questions or concerns.                            707-704-8223 Mike

Cadillac CT6 will get high-res streaming video rearview mirror

Thu, Dec 18 2014

Cadillac is preparing a big upgrade to the humble rearview mirror, adding a streaming video function that it claims will improve a driver's field of vision by 300 percent. The new system will debut on the 2016 CT6 flagship. The streaming system, which eliminates the visual obstructions caused by passengers, headrests and the rear pillars, relies on a 1280-by-240-pixel TFT display and a high-definition camera to reduce glare and improve visibility in low-light conditions. That camera even addresses one of the big annoyances of today's camera systems, by adding a hydrophobic coating to keep the camera lens clear. The system can easily be switched off at the press of a button, at which point the driver has a simple electrochromatic mirror at his disposal. "The closest comparison to this kind of rear vision would be driving a convertible with the top down," Travis Hester, the CT6's executive chief engineer said in a statement. "The streaming video is a significant enhancement for the luxury customer interested in purposeful technology." Scroll down for the press release from Cadillac. Cadillac Adds Streaming Video to Enhance Driver Vision and Safety Display eliminates visual obstructions, increases rearward vision by 300 percent 2014-12-18 DETROIT – Cadillac late next year will add high-resolution streaming video to the function of a traditional rearview mirror, removing obstructions of passengers, headrests and the vehicle's roof and rear pillars. The streaming video mirror improves field of vision by an estimated 300 percent, or roughly four times greater than a standard rearview mirror. "The closest comparison to this kind of rear vision would be driving a convertible with the top down," said Travis Hester, Cadillac CT6 executive chief engineer. "In addition to the increased field of view, the technology eliminates any rear seat, rear pillar or passenger obstructions, allowing the driver an unimpeded view of the lanes behind and traditional blind-spots," Hester said. Thanks to a high dynamic range, the camera's video feed reduces glare and allows a crisper image in low-light situations, versus a traditional glass electrochromatic, or auto-dimming, rearview mirror. The in-mirror display is an industry-leading 1280 by 240-pixel TFT-LCD display with 171 pixels per inch, combined with a HD camera designed specifically to enhance rear view lane width and maximize low-light situations.

Cadillac V-Performance Academy joins free driving school party

Sun, Sep 4 2016

Just in case you needed another reason to want one of Cadillac's hottest performers, starting with the 2017 Cadillac CTS-V and ATS-V, the first owner of each vehicle can score a free two-day course at Spring Mountain Motor Resort with the V-Performance Academy. According to Spring Mountain's website, the V-Performance Academy "is designed for drivers of all experience levels and includes dynamic car control exercises, visual skill development, and proper cornering techniques," with "brief" classroom sessions sprinkled in. Driving programs like the V-Performance Academy are all the rage right now. In the last few weeks alone, both Fiat and Ford announced free one-day academies baked right into the price of cars like the 124 Abarth and Focus RS. As with the Ford and Fiat courses, Cadillac is providing the learner cars. But where those other courses call on vehicle owners to shell out for airfare, food, and in Fiat's case, lodging, Cadillac covers tuition – a $2,420 expense for non-owners – along with two nights in one of Spring Mountain's "luxury condominiums" and breakfast and lunch during both driving days. Students are still on the hook for airfare, although Caddy will shuttled attendees from Las Vegas McCarren to the track/resort, some 55 miles away. If you can't shell out for the flight to Las Vegas, a new CTS-V or ATS-V, or simply can't spare two days for a driving school, Cadillac is ramping up for another year of its one-day, traveling V-Performance Lab, which will run at Lime Rock Park in Connecticut and at Circuit of the Americas in Texas. Carpool Deville aims to be the world's fastest hot tub

Wed, 16 Jul 2014

The world needs crazy inventors with wild dreams. While we might not long for the things that they create, their contraptions certainly make the day a little more enjoyable. Take the Carpool Deville as an example. Nobody (well, almost nobody) is asking for a hot tub fashioned from a 1969 Cadillac that is still drivable. But now that you know that such a beast exists, don't try to tell us you aren't at least intrigued.
The team behind the six-year-long project has a pretty ingenious setup worked out. The Caddy's original 472-cubic-inch (7.7-liter) V8 both provides propulsion and heats the water. The interior is entirely replaced with a watertight, fiberglass tub that includes working jets, and the controls are all done by hand.
As if just building a mobile hot tub isn't enough, the team behind the Carpool Deville plans to take it racing too. Specifically, they intend to go to the Bonneville Salt Flats later this year to make a top speed run while immersed in water at over 100 degrees. They even have a roll cage all set to install to meet the safety requirements there.
