This car was bought new in Southern Oregon and has had just 3 owners.  Mechanic owned since 1995, the car has been exceptionally well cared for and always garaged. ??In the photo above you'll notice the grill medallion with the Roman numeral 14.  These "Heritage of Ownership" medallions are given to loyal Cadillac customers with a long history of new car purchases.  In this case, the original owner was awarded his 14th medallion with the purchase of this 1990 Brougham.  I've seen lots of medallions with fives and sixes, sometimes up to 10, but never to this level.  The original owner was definitely a Cadillac man.??The Brougham d'Elegance was Cadillac's top model offering for 1990 and was well optioned.  On top of that, this particular car was ordered with option code V4S, which had a specific interior trim design including tufted multi-button leather seats, three overhead assist handles, six-way power passenger seat adjuster, illuminated driver and passenger visor vanity mirrors, rear sail pane reading lights, Twilight Sentinel, power trunk lid pull-down, heated mirrors and factory alarm.  Additionally, special "Autumn Maple Firemist" paint was ordered, which was an extra cost option.  Lastly, this car features the desirable 5.7L V8, much preferred over the 5.0L powerplant.  To sum it up, this car is loaded.?? 

Finished in Autumn Maple Firemist, code 89, this car wears the color well.  The paint finish is glass smooth with excellent gloss and depth. The car has zero rust issues anywhere; this is an Oregon car, the land that rust forgot.  Tires are quality Michelin XW4's with good tread.

Cadillac planning its own engines, halo cars

Cadillac is in the midst of some big changes. It's got a new chief executive. It's taking some distance from parent company General Motors and moving to a new headquarters in New York. And it's instituting a new naming scheme that will allow not only for a more clear progression in its lineup, but also for more models. But that's not the end of the story. Not by a long shot.
Speaking with Automobile magazine, Cadillac's new president Johan de Nysschen revealed his intention to develop several new models and powertrains. For starters, he does not want Cadillac to continue borrowing engines from the GM parts bin, but intends to develop a new range of engines specifically for the luxury automaker. The program will likely start with smaller-capacity engines but eventually lead to new V8s as well, taking the place of the long-serving Northstar engine that finally ended its lifespan a few years ago after some two decades of production. Along with other technologies, de Nysschen envisions possibly sharing these powertrains with other GM divisions, but developing them first and foremost for Cadillac.
The bigger question, however, is where those engines would go, and de Nysschen had some thoughts to share on that front as well. For starters, the former Infiniti and Audi exec sees room for an even bigger sedan above the upcoming new CT6 that will cap the current range. Maybe even two of them. But that's not all. Johan wants to see Cadillac get (back) into the sports car game with a new halo model or two - something it hasn't really done since the Corvette-based XLR roadster. A pair of new crossovers are also said to be in the works, flanking the SRX on both sides with smaller and larger models.

You're looking at the 2016 Cadillac CT6, aided by the almost inevitable internet-aided leak, ahead of its debut at the New York Auto Show this week. As you can see, the overall shape is straight-edged and aggressive, and overall in keeping with what we've seen from Cadillac over the last several years. High-tech lighting clusters extend from the fender peaks all the way down in what appear to be LED strips toward the lower fascia and its rectangular fog lights. A suitably massive grille encrusted in chrome boasts one of the larger Wreath and Crest badges we've ever witnessed on a car. Under that sharply creased hood will sit a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with 400 horsepower at its disposal, according to Cadillac, mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A naturally aspirated 3.6-liter V6 will also be available, we're told. We may wish for an edgier range-topping sedan from Cadillac, but it's not really fair to draw any real conclusions from just one leaked image. In other words, stay tuned, 'cause the rest of the story won't be far behind.

All-Wheel, All Right
There is no escaping the luxury all-wheel drive empire Audi has built for itself over the past 15 years. While nearly every high-end marque has at least one offering with power at all four corners, the hardware can't help but play second fiddle to Ingolstadt's Quattro kingdom. Leather-lined all-wheel drive is simply Audi the way minimum wage is an English degree. But General Motors seems hell-bent on raiding as many established fiefdoms as possible with the 2013 Cadillac ATS. Engineers and designers made no secret of the fact that the baby Cadillac was penned specifically to take on the BMW 3 Series, but Audi should be no less concerned about the newest luxury prince from Detroit.
GM has been stuffing all-wheel drive systems under their vehicles for years, but the effort hasn't come without nasty side effects. Unfortunate understeer, extra ride height, smallish wheels and porky curb weight meant opting for all-wheel drive was like signing your driving pleasure's death warrant. Would you like polished brass or brushed nickel hardware for your right foot's coffin, sir?
