Up for bid 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Custom Biarritz Classic in two tone Arizona Beige and Demitasse Metallic Brown. This was previously owned by a 92 year old gentleman who loved and owned the car for about 31 years. This Caddy has 66k original miles and it shows well. This luxury car is rare that only 2,000 of this model were built and out of those low numbers, there were only 475 built with power AstroRoof. This is 1 of those 475 built and those number can still go lower with the other optional equipment for this Caddy. This was the top of the line luxurious model they made for 1978 and the last of the big bodied land yacht. It is a pleasure to drive. It starts right up and runs and drives good.

Interior is my favorite part and the two-tone plush seats are to die for. They are so comfortable like you are in a lazy boy while driving. Carpets are good, still have original mats, dash is good, door panels are in great shape, driver side seat has some scratches from getting in and out, rear seats are beautiful, passenger is in great shape, AC works good, heater works good, trumpet horn works good, some crack in horn plastic, trunk looks good and is power lock. Power antenna doesn't work, clock works, wiper works, cruise works. It has the sought after power Astroroof the works well. This Cadillac is loaded with many options. It has pretty much everything except the exterior temp gauge and CB radio. It has lots of power options, like power seats, power windows, power door locks, power rear trunk, power steering, power brakes, tilt steering, AC, power roof, power antenna, and much more.

Paint is still decent and has its fair share of imperfections. The hood has eggshell cracking just in the Brown part as shown in the pics, the rest still shines good. Some minor scuff in the hubcaps and a couple of hairline crack in the rear bumper plastic. Still a great cruiser that turns heads and loves the drive. Lovingly owned with pride and has always been garaged. Body is in great shape, no rust worries. Underchassis looks really clean.

Engine runs good, and starts right up. Tranny shifts good. We removed the valve covers and underneath looks amazing like it came from factory, clean with no carbon deposits. Always has been maintained properly. Engine bay looks really clean. Drive this amazing and iconic Caddy a true American Luxury car and bring back those good 'ol mem'ries!

What will the next Presidential limo look like?

Thu, 25 Jul 2013

With recent news that the Secret Service has begun soliciting proposals for a new armored limousine, we've been wondering what the next presidential limo might look like. The current machine, nicknamed "The Beast", has a design based on a car that's no longer sold: the Cadillac DTS. If General Motors gets the job again, which wouldn't be a surprise considering the government still owns a chunk of the company, the next limo's shape would likely resemble the new XTS (below, left). But Cadillac hasn't always been the go-to car company for presidential whips.
Lincoln has actually provided far more presidential limousines throughout history than Cadillac. In fact, the first car modified for Commander-in-Chief-carrying duty was a 1939 Lincoln K-Series called "Sunshine Special" used by Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the last Lincoln used by a president was a 1989 Town Car ordered for George H.W. Bush. If President Obama wanted a Lincoln today, it would likely be an amalgam of the MKS sedan and MKT crossover, as illustrated above.
And what about Chrysler? The only record we could find of a President favoring the Pentastar is Nixon, who reportedly ordered two limos from the company during his administration in the '70s, and then another one, known today as the "K-Car limo," in the '80s after he left office. Obama, however, has a personal - if modest - connection to Chryslers, having owned a 300 himself before he took office. A 300-based Beast (above, right) would certainly earn the U.S. some style points.

It's going to cost $12 billion to fix Cadillac

Wed, Apr 1 2015

The Cadillac CT6's development predates Johan de Nysschen taking over at Cadillac, but the forthcoming flagship is the luxury brand's first major new product launch since the beginning of his tenure. The vehicle's debut also marks the beginning of a comprehensive $12 billion renewal plan bringing eight new vehicles in the next five years. Now, the former Audi and Infiniti exec is talking about joining Caddy and the company's future. "Cadillac will be a powerhouse global luxury brand that will command the respect of its peers," de Nysschen said about the forecast state of the company in 2020 to Bloomberg. He disclosed that three of those new vehicles under the five-year plan would be crossovers and reiterated that plug-in hybrids are on the way that would take advantage of the Chevrolet Volt's tech advances. De Nysschen also reminisced about joining Cadillac last year. He told Bloomberg that leaving Infiniti wasn't an easy decision, and there were apparently long conversations on the phone with General Motors President Dan Ammann discussing strategy for the luxury brand. De Nysschen was apparently clear that a greater investment and more autonomy from the corporate mother ship were vital. These days, the revitalization of Cadillac is just getting rolling. The company has a swanky New York office with a dedicated team to focus on the future. According to de Nysschen, the brand will grow its staff to around 150 people by the end of the year, compared to over 40 now. The marketing plan is to position the American luxury brand as a more distinctive product versus more common German rivals. It's going to be very interesting to see if this new Caddy can dare greatly enough to accomplish these lofty goals.
