1979 Cadillac Eldorado Base Coupe 2-door 5.7l on 2040-cars
Jasper, Georgia, United States
Selling my '79 Eldorado FWD with 350 V8 (this is the Oldsmobile engine you want with this body style.)
This car belonged to a local Georgia sports figure's mother, who has since passed. Rides like a dream. Low miles 86,XXX. I do drive this car, so mileage will change. Very dependable. I routinely drive it 50+ miles down to Atlanta. Just a few surface minor rust spots, but not in the wheel wells or problem areas. Headliner is sagging & needs re-glued. A/C does not work. VERY clean interior. AM/FM Cassette with CB. WORKS, but some of the digits don't show up perfectly. I don't know if the CB works though. The power antenna has a mind of its own. Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it doesn't. The speakers are original & very "tinny" sounding. I recommend swapping them out. Sunroof. Power windows. Great, matching near-new Firestone tires. This car was kept in a carport it's life & the sun hit the trunk area. There were cracks in the trunk paint & paint had faded to the metal. To prevent further rust, the trunk was sanded and painted with standard white paint, but will need a professional sanding and painting to look proper. This was done only to prevent further damage. The vinyl roof is in average/good condition, free of cracks. I have a clean Georgia title in my name. Also have original manuals, window sticker & many maintenance documents. This classic Cadillac is available for sale locally & I reserve the right to end the listing early in the event of a local offer. If you'd like this car, use the "Buy it Now" feature or email your reasonable offer. Please don't contact me unless you're a cash buyer serious to buy. I will not end this auction outside of the terms of ebay. I am only selling to fund the restoration of a convertible project I picked up recently. 10% of the sales price will be donated to my local Civil Air Patrol Squadron for cadet programs & emergency services training. |

Weekly Recap: Auto execs face life in prison for recall delays under proposed legislation
Sat, 09 Aug 2014
The stiff punishments are part of broader transportation legislation, but clearly McCaskill has automakers in her sights.
Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill threw down the gauntlet this week, proposing a bill that could send auto executives to prison for life if they were found to have delayed a recall. She also wants to eliminate the limit for fines for auto safety violations, which are currently capped at $35 million.
Cadillac ATS to go racing in 2015 as CTS.V.R replacement
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Cadillac has been racking up victories with the CTS.V.R in Pirelli World Challenge racing for two model generations now, including recent GT class championships in 2012 and 2013. However, even winning racers eventually have to retire, and it looks like the CTS may be taking a bow at the end of the season. In its place, Caddy is reportedly working on a new racecar based on the ATS Coupe, and it might even get to compete internationally.
According to Racer, Pratt & Miller Engineering is leading the development and is already lapping the ATS racecar in Michigan for testing. It reportedly drops the CTS' V8 in favor of a twin-turbocharged V6 powering the rear wheels. Since this is the same team behind the hugely successful Corvette Racing program and the current CTS.V.R, the latest car appears to be in good hands.
The new model would also adhere to GT3 rules, according to Racer, and that might signal a big change for Cadillac's motorsports program. It means that the ATS could be sold to teams in the numerous series around the world that accept these vehicles. That would broaden the luxury coupe's exposure and put it up against GT3 racecars from premium brands, like Bentley, Porsche and McLaren. If it wins, the change could be a marketing bonanza for the brand.
Combative de Nysschen defends Cadillac move, naming change
Mon, 29 Sep 2014
Johan de Nysschen isn't afraid of taking quick, decisive actions, even if they are criticized. Since taking the wheel at Cadillac, he instigated moving the luxury division's base of operations to Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood and introduced a new naming scheme for the future of the brand, like he did at Infiniti. The polarizing boss recently explained his feelings about the future of Cadillac in more depth on his Facebook page, but unfortunately only his friends could read it. Thankfully, Daily Kanban posted much of the strongly worded missive for the whole world to see.
Much of the message examines the decision to move some employees to New York. De Nysschen claims that it's all about giving Cadillac distance from Detroit to reshape itself. It allows for, "No distractions. No side shows. No cross-brand corporate considerations. No homogenized lowest common denominator approach. Just pure, unadulterated, CLASS."
