Cadillac shows dealers convertible rendering
Tue, 28 Oct 2014Cadillac is getting serious about revitalizing and expanding its lineup, and to that end, a new report claims that brand boss Johan de Nysschen has been showing plans for several new models to the marque's dealer body - among them, a new convertible.
The droptop which Cadillac reportedly showed its dealers in sketch form, would be based on the same platform as the ATS and CTS, those it's unclear to which (if either) of those model lines the new convertible would be added, or whether the design features a canvas or folding hardtop roof. One way or another, it would be the first time Cadillac would offer a convertible since the Corvette-based XLR roadster was discontinued more than five years ago.
Quoting an unnamed brand spokesperson, Cadillac would "like to introduce an open car to the portfolio at some point," however, "it's not likely to be one of the near-term portfolio additions."

For the annual "Green Car of the Year" award, given out at the Los Angeles Auto Show each year, there are five finalists. For the "Green Car Technology" award, there are a fantastic ten. At the 2014 Washington Auto Show today, the Cadillac ELR and its regen on demand brakes managed to beat out the nine other finalists to claim the second annual "Green Car Technology" award. What is the purpose of the "Green Car Technology" award? Green Car Journal says it wants to reward "technologies that enable significantly improved environmental performance in vehicles today," which is why only fuel-saving technologies that were "in use on American highways during the award year" can be considered. The Caddy's brakes beat out the Acura Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain, the Audi 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine, the BMW carbon-fiber passenger shell from the i3, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine used by Ford, the plug-in hybrid powertrain in the Honda Accord, Hyundai's hydrogen fuel cell technology, the regenerative brakes in the Mazda i-ELOOP, the plug-in hybrid powertrain used in some Porsche models and, finally, the Ram 3.0-Liter EcoDiesel engine. Last year, Green Car Journal gave Mazda's Skyactiv technology the inaugural Green Car Technology award. 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe configurator is ready to get personal
Wed, 17 Sep 2014If you are in the market for a luxury coupe but would prefer it to be American, then you are in luck because the configurator for the 2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe is now online.
Prices for the Cadillac start at $38,990 (including the $995 destination fee) for the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 272 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, or $46,145 for the 321-hp, 275-lb-ft 3.6-liter V6. Gearbox options include a six-speed manual on some 2.0 models or a six-speed automatic on both of them, and they can be ordered with all-wheel drive for $2,450 to the four-cylinder or $2,600 to the 3.6.
One thing that Cadillac does especially well here is giving customers a plethora of models and options to choose from. Trim level choices include standard, luxury, performance and premium for the four-cylinder or luxury, performance and premium for the V6. There are also 10 colors available, five of which carry an extra premium of $495 or $995. Upgraded interior packages for $1,295 add improved trim and leather, as well.
