The car is pretty bare bones as he stripped all chrome, headlights, etc off before stopping work. I will be selling those parts in separate auctions. Body work is probably 85% done. Trunk is not bolted to hinges. Top is pretty thrashed. Top starts working but will definitely need work and adjustment. I Seats are thrashed as is the carpet, dash, etc. Car starts up after a few tries and idles, but goes to zero pressure after a short time, according to a mechanic. Slight ticking at times. I am not mechanically inclined, so I am turning this over to someone that can work on it. Tires are holding air, but I wouldn't drive the car on them due to their age. Car runs, but will need to be towed on flatbed from its current location. Shows 44788 miles, not sure if it is 44788 or 144788. What you see is what you get. No other parts are included. No warranty is given, express or implied."

1976 CADILLAC ELDORADO CONVERTIBLE
ONE OF ONLY 16,000 MADE!

Here is the video I made today showing how the car starts and some other condition specifics...

I am selling a car that I have owned since 2007.  I hired someone to do the restoration project, but they bailed without completing the work.  The car has been driven a total of about 10 miles since purchase.  Prior to me buying it, it sat in a lot for 10 years.  It is listed on non-op status right now, but was previously registered through 2010 or 2011, though rarely driven.  This car is pretty bare bones as the guy stripped most of the parts off the car to do the body work and painting.  I will sell those parts, as well as other parts I bought to put into this car, in separate auctions.  The car is in San Diego and you will need to arrange pickup and full final payment within 7 days of the close of auction.  I will not arrange shipping.  I have a copy of the title in hand.  Payment must be cleared before car will be released.

This car was stripped down to bare metal and primered before going on non-op status.  Weatherstripping was removed.  Door panels are not on the car anymore.  All windows are still there and all window regulators were there and working as of 2 years ago.  Please see my attached video that shows that 3 of 4 windows at least operate at some level, all windows are present.

To be clear...What you see in the pictures is what you get.  No other parts are included, except as is.  Car is sold as is, where is.  I have been as clear as I can about the condition as I know it.

I hope someone can rescue this baby and return it to its former glory!  Only 16K of these '76 convertibles were made so I don't want to see it get scrapped.

Thanks and good luck!

Looking back on our favorite cars of Mad Men

Tue, Apr 7 2015

The second half of the seventh and final season of Mad Men debuted this week, set to cap a run of public and critical acclaim. A decade's worth of interesting cars also made for good television, if you were paying attention. Vehicles didn't often steal the spotlight from Don, Betty, Roger, Joan and the gang, but they added meaningfully to the tone and beauty of the series. We sorted through the wheeled extras from Mad Men's archives, and choose some of our favorites to highlight. The list consists of cars that had at least a small impact on the plot of an episode, though certainly there are worthy gems hiding in just about every street and driving scene. Check out our subjective top five, and then let us know which of the Mad Men cars would be on your list. 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille – Season 2 Don Draper's Cadillac Coupe DeVille, all 500 feet of it, shows up in a few seasons of the show, but it's the first appearance that sets the tone. A Cadillac salesman, cut from the same cloth as Draper, asks what Don drives right now. "A Dodge," Don admits. "Those are wonderful if you want to get somewhere," allows the salesman, "this is for when you've already arrived." For a man on the move up corporate and social ladders that's a powerful message, and a pitch-perfect car. 1961 Lincoln Continental – Season 3 The most stylish Lincoln Continental ever is perfect set dressing for the mod show, of course. Though it's interesting that the car isn't cast as dapper Draper's ride, but rather his father-in-law's. Grandpa Gene does what all great grandfathers are bound to: lets his granddaughter Sally drive the big Lincoln while he works the pedals. Generational bond secured, in fine fashion. When you go back through the first three seasons of the show, you'll notice that Continentals show up more than once, too. There's nothing quite like them to evoke the best of the early '60s. 1963 John Deere 110 – Season 3 The only non-standard passenger vehicle on the list, no self-respecting gearhead/Mad Men fan should quibble with the inclusion of the John Deere 110 riding mower. For starters, the Deere is lovely to look at; a miniature version of the American Heartland icon in its green and yellow duds. The 110 appears as if milled from a solid block of steel, just the opposite of today's sleek, plasticky lawn minders (we're scouring Craigslist for one to bring home). The John Deere also has dear ramifications to the plot, too.

2015 Cadillac ATS Coupe priced from $37,995*

Thu, 15 May 2014

Cadillac has released pricing details on its new-for-2014 ATS Coupe. The new model, which will be available with buyer's choice of a 2.0-liter, turbocharged four-cylinder or a 3.6-liter V6 (the ATS Sedan's base 2.5 won't be making the trip) can be had with optional all-wheel-drive in place of the standard rear-wheel setup, while customers can also snag a six-speed manual or six-speed auto.
Prices start at $37,995, which represents a $2,900 premium over the 2014 ATS Sedan (pricing on the 2015 four-door isn't available yet) with the same 2.0-liter engine. Still, the ATS Coupe starts at just over $2,500 less than a base BMW 428i, which is also less powerful and offers less standard equipment. The Caddy is also less costly than the Mercedes-Benz C250 Coupe, although only by about $200. It's even cheaper than the Audi A5, which starts at $38,105, but that model includes all-wheel drive as standard. It should be noted that these prices are without their respective destination charges (*$995 for the Caddy, $925 each for the BMW and the Mercedes and $895 for the Audi).
Unfortunately, Cadillac hasn't released any additional pricing information beyond what we have here, so we can't tell you how much things like all-wheel drive, an automatic transmission or the 321-horsepower V6 will cost. That makes it difficult to figure out just how reasonable the ATS Coupe will be relative to its challengers, but so far, the value equation looks to be in the car's favor. When those full details roll in, though, you know where to look. Scroll down for the official press release from Cadillac.

Cadillac ATS to go racing in 2015 as CTS.V.R replacement

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

Cadillac has been racking up victories with the CTS.V.R in Pirelli World Challenge racing for two model generations now, including recent GT class championships in 2012 and 2013. However, even winning racers eventually have to retire, and it looks like the CTS may be taking a bow at the end of the season. In its place, Caddy is reportedly working on a new racecar based on the ATS Coupe, and it might even get to compete internationally.
According to Racer, Pratt & Miller Engineering is leading the development and is already lapping the ATS racecar in Michigan for testing. It reportedly drops the CTS' V8 in favor of a twin-turbocharged V6 powering the rear wheels. Since this is the same team behind the hugely successful Corvette Racing program and the current CTS.V.R, the latest car appears to be in good hands.
The new model would also adhere to GT3 rules, according to Racer, and that might signal a big change for Cadillac's motorsports program. It means that the ATS could be sold to teams in the numerous series around the world that accept these vehicles. That would broaden the luxury coupe's exposure and put it up against GT3 racecars from premium brands, like Bentley, Porsche and McLaren. If it wins, the change could be a marketing bonanza for the brand.
