I am a private collector in Wisconsin with over 40 cars.  I do not buy and sell cars, as a matter of fact I have not offered or sold any cars from my collection.  My age, and frankly my interests are making me think about "reducing the herd" so to speak.  Thus, the listing for this last production of the Cadillac Eldorado Limited Edition Bicentennial Edition.

There were 200 of these cars made with special exclusive appointments in 1976 for the last production run.  If you don't know about this last production run or this car, just Google "1976 Cadillac Bicentennial" and you're see a lot of information.  This is car #139 of 200, with the 200th car being in the GM Sterling Heights, MI museum.

There is a  plaque on the dash which indicates it's a Bicentennial, as well as the VIN and appointments which were exclusive to the Bicentennial, such as the white leather seats with red Firethorn pinstriping, white hubcaps, red and blue pin stripping etc.

There is a Bicentennial Registry which lists the cars and their owners that you can find on the web.  Jay Leno was listed recently as one of the owners, but they changed this owner to annonymous recently, although he still owns one.  Another is owned by the Saudi Royal Family, an other major collectors of the world.

One of these Bicentennials sold in 2012 on Ebay for the winning bid of $83,000.  The car had only 1400 miles on it.  My car has 43,000 miles on it and I'm no where near an $83,000 price, but I'm not giving it away either for the price of a "regular" 1976 Eldorado convertible. This car's beautiful condition would be perfect for a Cadillac Dealer's Showroom.  It even has the factory window sticker that show it's the Bicentennial Edition.

I am a EXTREMELY ANAL detail orientated collector, a perfectionist of sorts and I'm very particular about the condition and originality of the cars I own.  THIS CAR IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.  I have owned this car for almost 10 years.  I've had it since January of 2005.  Since then, I've driven the car 1,400 miles, less than 150 miles a year, exclusively to car shows.  I had stand up placards made of poster board for the shows that explain what a Bicentennial is.

Since I've owned it I had a lot of things done to it.  I had a new, best you can buy, pinpoint vinyl convertible top installed with glass heated rear window, exactly what the car came with from the factory.  The top has never seen rain, well, neither has the car since I've owned it.  It's been stored with my other cars inside and covered.  I had all replaceables in the engine bay replaced, including valve cover gaskets, hoses, belts, full tune up, carb gaskets, and much more.  If it was replaceable I had it replaced.  The exhaust is like new with catalitic converter.  Everything works with the exeption of the clock.  The automatic trunk lock, cruise, AM/FM/8 track, power antenna is sometimes slow, all gauges and lighting work perfectly.  The carpeted front seat backs are faded a little, and I had a perfectly matching dash pad put on as you can see in the pictures. The transmission shifts fine, the battery is new, etc.  I can go on and on and on about this, the car needs nothing.  There are a couple rock chips near the front headlights and the right rear hubcap has a couple chips in it. There are 2 extremely small dipples in the hood on the RH side near the windshield that are almost un-noticable. The front door windlace (round cloth covered weatherstrip at body) is freyed at top and could inexpensively be replaced if you wish to do so. For me it's fine like it is.  The car has the factory parade boots which are not cracked.  I had custom made boot covers made for them, but the original boot cover is also there.  The trunk has the original spare, flat fixer bottle and jack.  The car has the (new) one piece front Firethorn Red carpet mat, but I also bought regular Firethorn Cadillac mats to put on top of it so when you drive to a car show you can take them out and put them in the trunk.  This keeps the new original once piece mat like new.  The trim and stainless is in fantastic condition as the pictures show.  The top goes up and down just fine and does not bind.  I replaced the LH convertible top body weather stripping last year because it was becoming pretty brittle, as well as the trunk weatherstrip.  The hood and trunk Cadillac emblems are like new.  The upholstery is in great condition with no rips or tears, although the front door panels and one spot on driver's seat show a little wear as you can see in the pictures.  The tinted glass is all perfect all the way around with no chips or cracks or windshield wiper streaks.  And of course, it rides like a Cadillac.  It's a really nice driving car.  The tires are brand new with correct whitewall width. I purchased these from Coker Tire when I first got the car and they have about 900 miles on them.  Brakes and CV joints are like new.  I think I had the CV joints replaced?  The A/C was converted and works fine but needs to be charged.

I welcome any questions or inspection of this car, inspections by appointment of course.  I'm being VERY honest about this car in my description and am not out to decieve anyone.  If I sell it fine, if I don't that's fine too.  I really like this car and the condition it is in, not to mention the rareity of it.  Ebay only allows me to post 24 pictures, so on the pictures you will see a web address that is for this car.  It has over 200 pictures of the car that I took this week.  I'm selling this car with no warranty as is.
If you can't access the link by typing it in your browser, email me or call and I will give you the link to the other 200+ pictures.

CADILLAC COLLECTORS AND ENTHUSISTS will know what a Bicentennial Edtion is, but if you don't here's some information.........
All Bicentennials start out loaded with all available equipment including the hard parade boot. The only exception to this will be if your car was produced for the California market, then it will include the VJ9 California Emission Equipment & Testing option at a cost of $50.00.
All are the exact same color.....#11 Cotillion White body color, White Leather Interior with red piping, Dark Firethorn Carpet with red dash and seat belts. All have a white convertible top. The pin stripping, #3 Blue and #8 Red is unique to this model only.
Blue and Red are both on the hood but only the Red extends down both doors. Another unique item is the Wheel Cover Centers, they are painted Cotillion White to match the body where as all other Eldorados came with #19 Sable Black Centers.
Another very important item that lets you know you have the "real deal" is a small gold engraved plaque on the dash just above the glove box door. It states “This 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado is one of the last 200 identical U.S. production convertibles"
To locate your Body Number Tag and number, check under the hood below the windshield on the passenger side close to the firewall.
It is a black metal tag with the top line reading BODY BY FISHER. The end of the second line is where you find your Body Number. If you have a TRUE Bicentennial Eldorado your number will be between and including numbers 013801 thru 013999. There are only 199 of these cars out there. That is it!  #14000 was the last one made and is held by GM making it #200.
This is the only way to know for sure if you have a true '1976 Cadillac Fleetwood Bicentennial Eldorado'. Hopefully this helps explain what to look for when on the hunt for this truly Rare and “Last of the Breed” BIG Eldorados.

Weekly Recap: Lincoln Continental serves up the style, Cadillac CT6 delivers the substance in New York

Sat, Apr 4 2015

Lincoln and Cadillac grabbed the spotlight this week at the New York Auto Show in a dramatic fashion that evoked the brands' glory days. America's two luxury carmakers went toe-to-toe with their glittering reveals and plans for ambitious expansion. Both were selling their technology, style and the promise of a better future. Cadillac vs. Lincoln. At the Javits Center, 2015 seemed a lot like 1956. Neither company was interested in drawing comparisons with the other, which is fair, and accurate. They're in vastly different places in terms of sales and the pace of their turnarounds, but they hope to reach the same eventual destination at the pinnacle of the luxury-car world. Lincoln used the element of surprise to great effect with the Continental concept. A production version is still at least a year away, and the company was vague on details. Officially, we don't even know if it is front- or rear-wheel drive, though speculation abounds. Who cares? The seats can be adjusted 30 ways! The Continental also showed off a bold chrome grille that will be the new face of Lincoln. The blue bomber also rolled on blinged-out 21-inch polished aluminum wheels, used a 3.0-liter EcoBoost engine and had huge LED head lights with "laser-assisted" high beams. All of this resulted in almost blinding attention. The concept drew rave reviews, stirred controversy with Bentley designers who argued Lincoln ripped them off, and most importantly, pointed a way forward for the newly determined brand that hopes to compete with Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Cadillac and Lexus. View 32 Photos Meanwhile, Cadillac showed the CT6, a finished product that will top its range and is loaded with the best and latest technologies General Motors has at its disposal. With production starting late this year, Cadillac had more specifics at the ready. Engines? Cadillac has a couple V6s and a turbo four for sure. It's working on a hybrid, and has considered a V-Series variant. It's based on a new rear-wheel-drive, aluminum-intensive chassis called Omega, features an advanced collision-mitigation system with automatic braking and has a cabin that's laden with "leathers, exotic woods and carbon fiber." It will be assembled at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck factory and goes on sale next year. At this point, Cadillac is more than willing to talk about every except for the price. The devil was not in the details for Cadillac, as evidenced by the CT6. But it wasn't for Lincoln either.

Cadillac introducing V2V communications on 2017 CTS sedans

Thu, Mar 9 2017

While Audi has introduced vehicle-to-infrastructure technology in select cars in select cities, Cadillac is focusing on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communications, and it all starts with the CTS sedan. Starting this month, the company will be adding V2V equipment to 2017 models. The feature will be standard on cars in the US and Canada. These V2V devices will allow these new Cadillacs to communicate with each other up to 980 feet away. The cars will be able to transmit and receive information on speed, direction, and location. An example of how this data can be used is in detecting a car coming up a side street that could pose a possible collision risk. The cars will also be able to transmit data about brake use, hazard lights, and low traction situations for advance warning of hazards. The warnings can be displayed on the instrument panel and heads-up display. Currently, the system only communicates with other CTS sedans equipped with the technology. According to Chris Bonelli at Cadillac part of the reason is that the CTS will be the only car with the equipment on US roads at the moment, but it also isn't currently set to communicate with other cars if they were to be offered right away. However, he said that the company is absolutely willing to work with other companies to make the system compatible if or when other cars are offered with the technology. This V2V system also doesn't send data to any sort of network, instead only communicating with nearby cars. For the time being, this precludes the possibility of receiving road condition information from cars that are farther away. But as Cadillac points out, it should work under any conditions with no delay since it isn't dependent on information from a network. As far as security is concerned, Bonelli told us that the Cadillac system does have firewalls and other security measures to keep it protected from interference. He also said the cars don't store any data they receive. In addition, none of the data could be used to identify a particular person. The cars use a radio frequency set aside by the government for this use. The introduction of this technology also puts Cadillac well ahead of proposed legislation by the Department of Transportation. The organization wants this type of short-range V2V communications equipment to be a standard feature by 2023, believing the technology could prevent many injuries and deaths due to crashes. GM CEO to meet with U.S. lawmakers over job cuts

Fri, Nov 30 2018

WASHINGTON — General Motors Co Chief Executive Mary Barra plans to visit Capitol Hill next week to discuss the company's plans to halt production at five plants in North America next year and cut up to 15,000 jobs, two congressional aides said on Friday. GM has come under harsh criticism from lawmakers from both major political parties, and from President Donald Trump, since Monday when it announced the biggest restructuring for the U.S. No. 1 carmaker since its bankruptcy a decade ago. Barra is expected to meet with lawmakers from Michigan and Ohio, where GM plans to shutter three plants, as well as senior leaders in Congress. GM did not immediately comment. Barra has been calling lawmakers this week to explain the decision to end production. Trump has threatened to revoke subsidies for GM. The Detroit automaker plans to halt production next year at three assembly plants: the Lordstown small-car factory near Youngstown, Ohio; the Detroit-Hamtramck complex in Detroit; and the Oshawa, Ontario, assembly complex near Toronto. It will also stop building several models now assembled at those plants, including the Chevrolet Cruze, the Chevrolet Volt hybrid, the Cadillac CT6 and the Buick LaCrosse. Additionally, GM plans to shutter the Warren transmission plant outside Detroit and a plant that makes electric motors and drivetrains outside Baltimore, Maryland. The Cruze compact car will be discontinued in the U.S. market in 2019, although GM may continue building it in Mexico for other markets, Barra said. Reporting by David Shepardson. Related Video:
