1966 Cadillac Eldorado - Convertible - Excellent Driver & Ready For Summer! on 2040-cars
Chicago, Illinois, United States
1966 Cadillac Eldorados are Extremely Rare! This Car is a Daily Driver! This Eldorado is a wonderful daily driver and a real head-turner! It is incredibly original and in excellent condition inside and out. Very few were made in this color combination of Tropic Green Firemist (basically a metallic green) and white leather with black accents. The interior is absolutely beautiful. Factory wood grain trim and door panels are in excellent condition. The dash is gorgeous as are all chrome and trim pieces. Gauges are clear and all operate as they should. Like most Eldorados, this car is equipped with several options. Features include climate control air conditioning, power windows, 8 way power seats, power steering and power brakes, AM-FM stereo, speed washer wipers, tilt & telescopic steering wheel and more. Even the clock still works (the original mechanicals have been upgraded to quartz movement). All lights and safety features work as they should. The A/C compressor, however, needs to be replaced, but it is a standard Delco part that is readily available and not expensive. The AM-FM stereo is particularly great. It is original to the car, but but I had the insides rebuilt with new modern components by S&M Electro-Tech. You can connect an iPod or other external source and play it through your original radio! (See http://www.turnswitch. The original, numbers-matching 429ci engine gets works wonderfully and gets plenty of power from its 340hp. The engine has just over 70,000 miles on the odometer. The GM Turbo Hydramatic TH400 automatic transmission shifts perfectly. This Eldo starts right up, drives straight, smooth and quietly. Dual servo self adjusting brakes were standard on the Eldorado. Stopping is a breeze --you will have plenty of time to wave at the people admiring your car and complimenting you on its condition. History and Maintenance This car has been extremely well maintained throughout its life. It has been kept in a heated garage during my ownership, and does not appear to have ever been parked outside for long periods of time. As noted above, this car was one of the last Eldorados that rolled out of Cadillac's Clark Street factory in 1966. It was completed in the second week of June, 1966, about 6 weeks before Cadillac began retooling for the 1967 model year. My research indicates that I am the Eldorado's third owner. It was originally sold in Michigan and then spent some time in Pennsylvania before it began attracting attention in Chicago in 2006. I have owned this Eldorado since June 2006, and have complete service records since then. I have used mechanics who specialize in maintenance and service of classic vehicles. Documentation includes original owners manual, Cadillac data/build sheet, replicated window sticker and more. Payment and Shipment If you are interested in mechanical inspection, message me to arrange it. You will pay the mechanic's fees, if any, associated with the inspection. Winning bidder must PayPal or wire transfer $1,000 within 2 days of auction closing with the balance due within three days thereafter (or as otherwise agreed upon). Winning bidder is responsible for shipping expenses (I can recommend a good auto transportation company). This vehicle is sold as is, where is and with all faults. This is a shipment contract within the meaning of section 2-509 of the Uniform Commercial Code. This is a true investment grade Cadillac Eldorado. Cadillacs are on the move these days, especially the Eldorados. This is one of the nicest out there. Get it now and enjoy the summer with the top down! |

Here are a few of our automotive guilty pleasures
Tue, Jun 23 2020It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. The world is full of cars, and just about as many of them are bad as are good. It's pretty easy to pick which fall into each category after giving them a thorough walkaround and, more important, driving them. But every once in a while, an automobile straddles the line somehow between good and bad — it may be hideously overpriced and therefore a marketplace failure, it may be stupid quick in a straight line but handles like a drunken noodle, or it may have an interior that looks like it was made of a mess of injection-molded Legos. Heck, maybe all three. Yet there's something special about some bad cars that actually makes them likable. The idea for this list came to me while I was browsing classified ads for cars within a few hundred miles of my house. I ran across a few oddballs and shared them with the rest of the team in our online chat room. It turns out several of us have a few automotive guilty pleasures that we're willing to admit to. We'll call a few of 'em out here. Feel free to share some of your own in the comments below. Dodge Neon SRT4 and Caliber SRT4: The Neon was a passably good and plucky little city car when it debuted for the 1995 model year. The Caliber, which replaced the aging Neon and sought to replace its friendly marketing campaign with something more sinister, was panned from the very outset for its cheap interior furnishings, but at least offered some decent utility with its hatchback shape. What the two little front-wheel-drive Dodge models have in common are their rip-roarin' SRT variants, each powered by turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines. Known for their propensity to light up their front tires under hard acceleration, the duo were legitimately quick and fun to drive with a fantastic turbo whoosh that called to mind the early days of turbo technology. — Consumer Editor Jeremy Korzeniewski Chevrolet HHR SS: Chevy's HHR SS came out early in my automotive journalism career, and I have fond memories of the press launch (and having dinner with Bob Lutz) that included plenty of tire-smoking hard launches and demonstrations of the manual transmission's no-lift shift feature. The 260-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder was and still is a spunky little engine that makes the retro-inspired HHR a fun little hot rod that works quite well as a fun little daily driver.
Lyft and Ghostbusters want to take you for a ride in Ecto 1
Thu, Jun 30 2016Part of the fun of using a service like Lyft is that you never know exactly what kind of car will pick you up. And if you're in select cities this weekend, it could be the Ghostbusters' Ecto 1. Lyft is picking riders up in a 1982 Cadillac DeVille wagon decked out in the livery of everyone's favorite ghost catchers as part of a promotional tie-in with the new Ghostbusters movie. Just select Ghost Mode when ordering a car, and a decked-out Ecto 1 should appear. Customers can't ride with Slimer, but Lyft is packing each car with Hi-C Ecto Cooler – the relaunched juice drink that most older millennials lived on during their childhood – and Twinkies. If you're questioning the Twinkies, we strongly recommend you go back and watch the 1984 original. Egon will educate you. Riders in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, and Washington can order a free ride in Ecto 1 on Friday, July 1 or Saturday, July 2, between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Ghostbusters, starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, and Kate McKinnon, hits theaters on July 15. Opel director Sedran to succeed Docherty as Chevy Europe boss
Wed, 26 Jun 2013When longtime General Motors executive Susan Docherty announced she would be stepping down from her post as the head of Chevrolet and Cadillac in Europe, there was some idle chatter that plans for the creation of a new global overseer position for the Bowtie brand was behind the move. And while US sales chief Alan Batey has indeed assumed control of Chevy worldwide since her departure announcement, Docherty's vacancy is being filled after all, with Opel chief strategist Thomas Sedran taking up the reins.
That's according to Automotive News, who reports that Sedran will be tasked with pulling Chevy out of a sales funk, much of it pegged on Europe's stagnant auto industry, which has sunk to a 20-year low. AN notes that Chevy's EU sales plunged 32 percent to 57,584 units through the first five months of 2013, but the everyday value brand is faring worlds better than Cadillac, which has sold just 167 units in Europe over the same time period.
Sedran, 48, has been in the auto industry for over 20 years. Most recently, at Opel he had been working on long-term plans for the marque, and was appointed to the brand's management board in April of last year. Prior to joining GM, Sedran was employed as a management consultant for AlixPartners, where he worked closely with Opel for six years. Sedran will assume his new duties beginning July 1.
