1956 Cadillac El Dorado Seville Pop Art Car By Tony Halme Aka "heiko The Cry" on 2040-cars
Las Vegas, Nevada, United States
NEVADA CLASSIC CAR DEALER #40339, VIN # 5662026G5G1, True Mileage Unknown
A private art
and vintage Cadillac collector is making available a one of a kind 1956
Cadillac Eldorado Seville Coupe Model 6237DX that is a stunning pop art car.
The car has always been in climate controlled storage and maintained by
professionals. All records, manuals and files are included. Before the art was
applied the basic white car used as the "canvas" was found in Austin, Texas. The car is now located
in Las Vegas, Nevada. The current Nevada
license plate reads "Fin Art". (The artist was from Finland and this
car sports fins!)
This stunning work of pop art was the only vehicle hand painted in oil and sealed by wild wrestler, politician, EDM music pioneer and Finnish pop artist Tony Halme aka "Heiko The Cry". It is signed, sealed and in excellent condition. The auto was painted in Los Angeles in the very early 80's to depict the "Cry of the Universe" at that time. It was rumored that it took a month to paint and features a chrome Oscar award on the center hood flanked by two chrome flying pigs on the front fenders and floats on purple lighting. There is a powerful PA system built in with multiple digital horns and a microphone for announcements. It has a CD system, mirrored disco ball and many fun themed accessories. It is a guaranteed attraction and popular photo opportunity with all ages and artists alike. The acclaimed
maverick fighter and pop artist died in
2010. The auto had toured the nation as part of
a Scandinavian pop arts showcase and has been featured at the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame and Vans World of Skateboarding in addition to numerous auto publications
and display events. An English shoe artist hand made one pair of shoes that copy the paint scheme. They are size 9 and are a rear show stopper when displayed or worn with the finned auto. There are also five custom "hippie" vests made from the same material used in the custom headliner and back seat pillows. There were only 3900 of this model Caddy produced in 1956. The large V8 high performance engine has 305 horsepower and dual "batwing" Carter carburetors. The auto is in solid and reliable mechanical condition. It runs on premium fuel. The odometer shows 58,000 miles but for a car of this age, we should say true mileage unknown. This 1956
Eldorado is a rare investment in pop and automotive art that will return
public, media and promotional attention along with sheer fun to any owner,
retail display or institution. Brock Lesnar does M. Bison impression on Cadillac CTS
Fri, Jul 10 2015There's no doubt that a huge amount of physicality is required to survive night after night in the ring as a professional wrestler. Conversely, the storylines that tie all the action together are as staged as any soap opera. However, there's nothing fake about watching two axes being embedded in a Cadillac CTS by WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar. Lesnar's prodigious brawn was really putting this luxury sedan out of its misery, though. With matte black stripes on the hood, fake fender vents, camouflage along the side, and a decal proclaiming "Redneck" on the windshield, this particular Cadillac was far from the standard of the world. In favor of the CTS' build quality, Lesnar's hatchets didn't immediately do quite as much damage as you might expect, and he had to take several swings to achieve the destruction here. If you think that destroying a sedan one piece at a time sounds like something from a video game, you aren't alone. Someone else noticed a definite similarity to the bonus round from Street Fighter 2 where you get points for beating up a car at the dockside until it falls apart. Appropriate sound effects were even added, but having Lesnar throw a few pixelated fireballs would have been a nice inclusion, too. For the significantly longer, original version, check out the one embedded below. After Lesnar crushes the CTS, the actual wrestling does eventually ensue. The Caddy even briefly acts as a prop for some of the action.
Meet the other Cadillac wagon. It's as American as ABBA
Tue, Aug 16 2022The Cadillac CTS Wagon became a cult classic the second it went on sale. We all knew that it was never going to sell in anything approaching significant numbers, and if that "we" didn't include those actually working at GM, one would have to wonder what they were smoking. Cadillac was still having a hard enough time trying to convince people that it was now a BMW-fighting sport luxury brand rather than the purveyor of Grandpa-piloted land yachts. To many, a sport sedan like the CTS seemed like a stretch. But a CTS sport wagon? It sure seemed like GM was just doing things for funzies, an impression only enhanced by the CTS-V Wagon. Forget cult classic. That thing was an instant legend. And yet, the CTS wasn't the only Cadillac of that era offered as a wagon. It wasn't even the first. Before GM said "to hell with it, let's have some fun" on this side of the pond, over in Europe, it had already taken a page from its old badge-engineering playbook to create the 2006 Cadillac BLS Wagon. It was available as a sedan, too, but its awkward majesty is best enjoyed as the long-roof model. There's just something off about the whole thing, right? That's probably because it also looks vaguely familiar, as if you've seen it before. So where the hell does this thing come from? Sweden! Behind that Cadillac Art and Science face is a Saab 9-3, and in the case of the BLS Wagon, the Saab 9-3 Sport Combi wagon. The roofline is the dead giveaway, as no other wagon has ever looked like that. In fact, the roof and windows were the only exterior elements to copy directly over from 9-3 to BLS. No kidding. With the Cadillac front end, doesn't the Saab-funky-boxiness make it look like a miniature hearse? The answer is yes. GM's design team, led by Ed Welburn, was quite pleased with his work. Perhaps it even egged him on to create a real Cadillac sport wagon? "The whole team was very excited to apply Cadillac's design language to a wagon for the first time," said Welburn in a press release from the time. "The V-shaped chrome-plated grille, a Cadillac hallmark, is picked up again by the shape of the rear window, and the body side character lines make it unmistakably a Cadillac." The interior is surprisingly different from the 9-3, including the ignition switch migrating from the center console up to the steering column. It also wasn't exactly in keeping with the Cadillac norm of the time.
Facelifted Cadillac ATS spied completely uncovered
Thu, 27 Feb 2014The Cadillac ATS makes for a pretty svelte little coupe, and General Motors appears to know it, because multiple, completely undisguised prototype sedans have been spotted testing wearing what look like many of the forthcoming coupe's body parts.
Not only does it wear at least the outline of the brand's new, broader crest, it has the same front air dam with continuous chrome strip found on the coupe. The only real difference is that it has the somewhat taller side view mirrors from the sedan, rather than the narrower, longer ones from the coupe. Around back, the changes are harder to spot because the test car is outfitted with an unpainted lower bumper. However, it seems to lack the chrome strip that offsets the lower portion of the coupe from the sedan.
The ATS sedan is already a looker, but it is good to see Cadillac is taking a second pass using what it learned on the coupe. There's no word yet on when this revised sedan is going to hit the streets - let alone what changes will take place beneath the skin - but we're thinking it looks about right for 2015.
