This is a nearly perfect 2000 Cadillac.  It was bought brand new by my grandfather who was an engineer and meticulously maintained the car.  It is the definition of affordable luxury.  It has heated leather seats and dual seat memory settings.  It has back up sensors, premium sound, auto dimming mirror and drives like a dream.  All of the maintenance was done at the Cadillac dealers and we have the documents to show how well this car has been maintained.  It easily has another 100k miles left in it! Don’t miss out on this rare gem!

Dear XXXXXXX,

Hey Dan,

Great questions and it really is an exceptional car. "Nearly perfect" means there is one small dent on the driver side of the rear bumper that is about the same size as one of the backup sensors. It didn't puncture the paint so there is no rust. I can take a picture of it and send it to you tonight. Aside from that there are no defects. It doesn't leak and has been garage kept its whole life which has kept the body in great shape. The car is completely smoke free and rust free. I can't comment on the tires without going to check which I will do for you when I get home. My guess is that they have plenty of tread left since it was so rarely driven.

(Update: I checked the tire tread and the tires are in great condition.  If anyone else would like a picture please let me know)

Please let me know if you have any more questions!

Best,
Morgan

Dear morganandcelsey,

Hello,

Looks like a great car! Can you please tell me what "near perfect' means!!! Does it have any dents, dings, or scratches? Leaks? Does it need anything at all? Smoke free? Tires still good? What you you estimate the tread remaining to be? I am in MI, so I have to ask these questions since I cannot just drive over and look! It the car also rust free including the door seams down low when you open the doors? Thanks!
Dan

Dear xxxxxx,

Hey Harry,

Thanks for your questions.  My grandfather was the original owner.  The car was re-registered in his name alone when my grandmother passed a few years ago.  We are selling the car because my grandfather recently passed as well.  So long story short, I am the second technical owner but don't use the vehicle.  There are no warning lights and the car really is immaculate.  It has one small blemish on the bumper about the size of a finger nail.  I would be happy to have your daughter come look at the car.  Is there a time that works well with you to chat? I am free all night.

Best,
Morgan

Cadillac planning more Vsport models

Wed, 28 Aug 2013

There's a new intermediate class of luxury performance cars emerging. Audi has been doing it for years with its S-line bridging the gap, in many cases, between the standard fare and the full-on RS performance range. BMW's getting in on it with the M Sport line slotting in below the full M models. And now Cadillac is joining the fun with its Vsport offerings.
Models like the CTS Vsport and XTS Vsport are packing a new 3.6-liter twin-turbo V6 with 410 or more horsepower (along with bigger wheels and brakes) to slot in between the standard model and any impending V variant. Well, it appears Cadillac isn't about to stop there.
Speaking with The Detroit News, Cadillac product chief Hampden Tener revealed that, based on the response to the XTS Vsport, the brand is planning more Vsport models. He did not, however, indicate which would be the next to get the slightly sportier treatment. With the full ATS-V expected to pack a version of the same engine powering the aforementioned XTS and CTS Vsport models, an ATS Vsport would have to pack a smaller engine to fit in below. That only leaves the SRX crossover, Escalade SUV and the upcoming ELR hybrid. Food for thought.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems

Mon, 30 Jun 2014

General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.

Why we can't have better headlights here in the U.S.

Tue, Mar 13 2018

It wouldn't be a European auto show if we weren't teased with at least one mainstream vehicle we can't have here. At the Geneva Motor Show last week, the small but vocal contingent of shooting-brake buffs lamented that the Mazda6 wagon won't be coming to our shores, although they can take comfort in the fact that the vehicle won't get the torquey 250-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine we'll get here. Mercedes-Benz also announced a new headlight technology in Geneva that likely won't be available here anytime soon. It's just the latest in a long line of innovative and potentially lifesaving front-lighting solutions that the federal government doesn't allow in this country due to outdated standards — and a current lack of leadership at the U.S. Department of Transportation. Mercedes-Benz's new Digital Light system that debuted in Geneva uses a computer chip to activate more than a million micro-reflectors to better illuminate the road ahead. The Digital Light headlamps works with the vehicle's cameras, sensors and navigation mapping to adjust lighting for the given location and situation and to detect other road users. The Digital Light technology also serves as an extended head-up display of sorts by projecting symbols on the pavement ahead to alert drivers to, say, slippery conditions or pedestrians in the road. And it can even project lines on the road in a construction zone or through tight curves to show the driver the correct path. Digital Light will be available on Mercedes-Maybach vehicles later this year, although like any technology it's bound to trickle down to less expensive vehicles. That is, if we ever get it here in the U.S. Audi, a leader in automotive lighting, has repeatedly run into snags trying to bring state-of-the-art car headlights to the U.S. The German luxury automaker's recently introduced matrix laser headlight system, which performs many of the same trick as Mercedes-Benz's Digital Light, also isn't legal on U.S. roads. And five years after the introduction of its matrix-beam LED lighting, which illuminates more of the road without blinding oncoming motorists with brights by simultaneously operating high and low beams, Audi still can't bring that technology to the U.S. either.
