1969 Cadillac Deville Convertible.  This is a running, driving, Cadillac Convertible. It starts easily, the engine sounds good, and it shifts and stops properly. The power steering and power brakes work well. I have a clear title in my name.  This car is an excellent candidate for a restoration project.  You could drive it while you go through the restoration process.  Please look closely at all of the photos. There are some trim pieces in the trunk and one of the fender skirts. There are fender skirts for sale on Ebay for around $100.  The reserve price on my Cadillac Convertible is well below its value. I will gladly help the new owner in shipping the Cadillac anywhere in the world. The shipping expense is the new owner's responsibility.

I want the new owner to know exactly what they are getting.  With this in mind, I will explain in detail the problem areas of the car. 1. The convertible top is tattered and needs to be replaced. The top bows are in good condition, and the top bows align properly with the front windshield. 2. There is old body work that was not done very well.  Metal was welded in, but not properly finished.  The white color hides the problems, but on close inspection you can see that additional finishing is needed. Again, please look closely at the photos. The floors are dry and not rusted through. The body is straight and the doors align and close properly. The hood hinge on the passenger's side needs adjustment. 3. The tires are not good, and it is missing the spare tire. 4. The top motor is missing.  The top can be put up and down by hand, but the motor needs to purchased. The top needs to be replaced and the glass rear window is missing. 5. One hubcap is missing. 6.  The power windows work, but the passenger's side door window is slow, and the driver's side rear window will not come all the way up. 7. The trunk lock does not work properly, and repair parts for the trunk come with the car. 8. The dash pad has some cracks.

If you have any questions about the car please don't hesitate to give me a call.  My phone number is (801) 745-5835 or use the Ebay message system.  If you have less than 5 positive feedback in your Ebay feedback score, please email or call me before bidding.  I want this to be a good straightforward auction.  A $500.00 deposit is required within 24 hours of the auction closing unless other arrangements are made.

GM cutting vehicle trim options to save money for electrification

Sun, Mar 1 2020

Information continues to filter out about GM's plans based on comments the automaker made during its Capital Markets Day event in February. GM President Mark Reuss said the company's push to save money by rationalizing the number of build combinations will continue in 2020, carrying on the work done in 2019. As GM Authority covers, last year, the carmaker cut 3,500 components across model lines, a 12% drop in the number of parts it needed to stock in its plants. Reuss used the next-generation Chevolet Equinox and GMC Terrain as examples for more cost efficiencies, saying build possibilities — which include international markets and their options — will be cut by more than 50%, and use more shared parts. "We will reduce total trim levels on Equinox and Terrain from eight to six," Reuss said, "reduce engine variants from 11 to 5, reduce build combinations from more than 200 to less than 100 per program, and see significant cost savings of an already paid-for architecture that took the mass out, helping us self-fund electrification programs." GM will plow a large amount of the money it saves into its ambitious EV program. In 2017, the automaker said it intends to have 20 electric vehicles on the market by the end of 2023, some of which could be shared between brands. An automotive analyst at Seeking Alpha and a piece in Automobile attempted to put specifics to what we should expect. As Automobile points out, the first two EVs in the 20-car program are already on sale, being the Ariv Meld and Ariv Merge eBikes available in Belgium and The Netherlands. We've seen the Cruise Origin autonomous rideshare taxi, although we don't know when it will hit the road. The next three, which we should see in the metal shortly, are two Cadillac EVs and the GMC Hummer EV pickup. The Cadillac pair are expected to be sized like the XT4 and XT5, and along with the Hummer, should hit the market starting in late 2021.

Cadillac toned down ATS Coupe design due to customer feedback [w/poll]

Tue, 02 Sep 2014

Automakers always face a difficult decision when it comes to styling their cars. Design them too blandly and nobody will get excited about them. But style them too aggressively and they'll often end up turning off potential buyers.
Cadillac, for its part, is no stranger to aggressive design, but when it came to the new ATS Coupe, it elected to tone things down a bit. Speaking with The Detroit News in a wide-ranging interview, Cadillac design director Bob Boniface revealed that the original design for its compact coupe was edgier - closer to that of the CTS Coupe - with a wedgier profile, a more steeply raked beltline and a more severe grille. But potential customers surveyed in clinics apparently didn't like it. They found it looked heavy, inefficient and not fun to drive. So Boniface and his team literally went back to the drawing board and "took as much visual mass out of the car as [they] could." The resulting coupe, while handsome, looks far more similar to its four-door companion than did Cadillac's CTS.
What do you think, does the new ATS Coupe look just right, or is it too conservative? Voice your opinion in our quick online poll.

GM intends to offer semi-autonomous vehicles by 2020

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

Prepare for a few years of technological saber-rattling, as the world's automakers begin pushing to bring self-driving cars to market. Earlier this week, Nissan announced that it aims to offer autonomous vehicles by 2020, while Google, BMW and several other marks are working on similar efforts.
General Motors is doing things differently, though. Rather than push for a fully autonomous car, it's continuing to refine its semi-autonomous Super Cruise, a product that we tested in April 2012 and that will eventually see use on some Cadillacs before trickling down to the rest of the General Motors family. Super Cruise, which is undergoing testing in the Cadillac SRX, doesn't take complete control out of the driver's hands. Rather, under a very specific set of circumstances on the freeway, it will marry the capabilities of things like lane departure warning and adaptive cruise control to allow the driver to take their hands off the wheel. All of which sounds a lot like the system Mercedes-Benz is launching on the 2014 S-Class.
The system is still in development, according to John Capp, GM's director of electrical controls and active safety technology. Now that that the biggest hurdle, steering control, has been cleared, GM's engineers can focus on things like teaching the system to adapt to differing road conditions and visibility levels. As we reported in 2012, Super Cruise is still befuddled in low-visibility situations or when road markings aren't particularly clear.
