Gorgeous 1964 Cadillac Sedan Deville Originally from Colorado, this 64 Deville has won awards at car shows and will usually get at least one "Ok, how much do you want for the Caddy" at cruise nights. Fans of this body style Caddy know that the 64 is particularly stylish; the taillight treatments and low profile "mini-fins" in the rear make this a uniquely stunning classic. According to Hagerty and several other classic car sources, a 1964 Cadillac Deville with these options and mileage in this condition is worth anywhere from $22,000 to $34,000, so my asking price is reasonable. The car is titled in my name, tagged, insured and on the road with a current NY state inspection sticker. I'm only selling due to storage limitations. 45k, 429 V8. Every option available is present and accounted for: climate control, air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, cruise control and speed warning, auto headlamps, power door locks, power trunk pulldown, remote trunk release (vacuum powered, needs to be hooked up), am/fm radio with "more stations" seek and power antenna, luxury leather cloth combo six way power bench seat, power windows with power vents as well, full courtesy lamps including doors, posi traction differential, and power brakes and power steering. Caddy sedans from this era are steadily climbing in value, especially the 1963 and 1964 body styles. This is from Hagerty.com: "Cadillac continued to list its premium Series 62 hardtops as "de Ville" models through 1964. Along with exterior refinements for 1964, a new 340-hp 429-cid engine replaced the 390-cid variants of 1959-63, and the Turbo-Hydramatic was introduced. With the exception of the universally cherished ’59s, de Villes of this era are relatively affordable today. As period Cadillac values climb with the speed of an Atlas rocket, any top-notch hardtop or convertible DeVille looks all the more appealing today." Mechanical: It's always been meticulously cared for, all service and regular maintenance have been performed on schedule, no expense spared in keeping this Caddy in as close to showroom condition as possible. I bought the Caddy from a older collector in Colorado about five years ago, he's had it in a heated garage since the mid 70's. I was told the 45k on the odometer is original, my mechanic thinks it is genuine as well. All mechanicals have been updated, the list goes on. Recent work over the last couple of years includes extensive front end work, new exhaust system, brakes gone entirely through, new carburetor, gas tank and sending unit for gas gauge, new radiator as well as all fluids replaced this past spring and a full tuneup. All six power windows work perfectly, climate control works perfectly with cold A/C, radio and power antenna work, modern cd/mp3/ipod stereo professionally installed in glove box works through 6x9 speakers on rear deck, nothing cut. Alarm system with 2 remotes; can be hooked up to door locks. All the lights work properly including the fender indicators and dash lights as well as all the courtesy lamps. Clock does not work, "trumpet" horn does. Brand new radials are on the car now, properly sized so the speedometer is correct. Cosmetic: The Caddy got new paint in 2006 in the original silver a modern metal flake finish. It glitters nicely in the sunshine and the body is straight as an arrow. The entire interior was redone as well, the leather and vinyl are supple and the seats are cushy, headliner, door panels, carpet, visors, etc, all perfect. The car has never seen winter, it's always been a "Garage Queen". All the glass is in very good shape, no scratches or hazing, side windows lightly tinted. I don't know if the bumpers were rechromed but they look like new. The photos below were taken this past weekend, the car looks even better in person. The Caddy starts right up even after sitting for months and the engine has a nice purr. No leaks from anywhere, the garage floor is always clean when I pull her out. Runs very strong, tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. She idles perfectly, temperature needle never varies, shifts smoothly, tracks straight, stops easily and the suspension is luxurious. Simply a pleasure on the highway, it handles well for a car of this size. 340 HP 429 V8 moves this old girl up the highway with ease. Overall a beautiful example of a classic American cruiser. On the highway she'll get 13-15 MPG, pretty good for a 60's luxury cruiser. Completely roadworthy, the directional/brake/turn signal/headlights/brights work properly as well as the wipers and horn. Drives overall like an American classic luxury cruiser should. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Caddy is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates. Rare classic Cadillac which will only appreciate in value. Any questions feel free to email or send phone number to discuss. |

Infiniti Q50 Red Sport 400 priced at $48,855, AWD at $50,855
Fri, Apr 8 2016Infiniti's most powerful production model, the new Q50 Red Sport 400, now has a starting price. You'll need at least $48,855 for the rear-drive model or $50,855 for all-wheel drive. (Both figures include the $905 destination charge.) A fully loaded, rear-drive Q50 RS400 with Direct Adaptive Steering, navigation, adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel, and Infiniti's entire alphabet soup of safety equipment, tops out at $57,045. (Again, add $2,000 for AWD). When it comes to rear-drive competition, the closest base price to the Q50 is the 320-hp BMW 340i. This German undercuts the Infiniti by two grand, $46,795 to $48,855. But the BMW outprices the Q50 as soon as you start selecting options. A 340i with similar equipment to a loaded Q50 Red Sport 400 costs just under $60,000. All-wheel-drive German competitors also lose out in the price war. Like with the rear-drive models, the BMW 340i xDrive undercuts the Q50 RS400 by around $2,000. Add the options, and the Infiniti becomes a better value. The other two big German rivals, the Audi S4 and Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG start at a higher price and only get more expensive. Technically the S4 starts cheaper than the Q50, but only with the standard manual transmission. Selecting the S-Tronic dual-clutch model kicks the price from $50,125 to $51,125, and going for the top-end Prestige trim will bump potential Audi owners up to $57,025. Throw on must-have S4 options, including adaptive cruise control, adaptive dampers, and a sport differential and you'll be shell out $64,425 for the Audi. The Mercedes-Benz C450 AMG is the priciest choice in this group, starting at $51,725, or roughly $900 more than a base Q50 RS400 with AWD. Options, again, are the downfall here. Building a C450 to match a loaded Infiniti will drive the Mercedes' price up to $64,315. While it occupies something of a weird space relative to these vehicles, it's also worth mentioning the Cadillac CTS VSport. It's the only car in this impromptu pricing comparo that can outgun the Q50, with its 3.6-liter, twin-turbo V6 good for 420 hp and 430 lb-ft of torque. It also starts at $60,950, although that includes plenty of standard equipment. All this means that the Q50 Red Sport 400 represents a relative value. It packs more power than the Germans – 80 more than the 340i, 67 more than the S4, and 38 more than the C450 – and a more comprehensive list of options, too.
Cadillac ELR getting massive discounts, some up to $14,000
Mon, Jul 14 2014Well, that didn't go as planned. General Motors had marketed the Cadillac ELR extended-range plug-in as a premium version of the Chevrolet Volt with some Caddy refinements. Now, it looks like that premium, at least from a price standpoint, is shrinking. Shoppers in a number of states are reporting that GM and its dealers are discounting the ELR in order to move more off dealer lots. The issue is that few people are biting at the official price tag of about $76,000, so GM has started offering as much as $8,000 worth of dealer and customer incentives, Transport Evolved reports. More recently, dealers in states such as Florida, Texas and Maryland are offering discounts in the $12,000-to-$14,000 range, and that's before any federal and state plug-in incentives kick in. It's not difficult to guess why. Through the first half of the year, GM sold fewer than 400 ELRs. Last month, Caddy moved just 97 units, or about as many as Tesla sells of its Model S in a day. Perpahs recent spy shots that reveal a test ELR that appears to up the sportiness quotient, with touches such as larger wheels and brakes, will also help sales. Check out Autoblog's "First Drive" impressions of the ELR here.
2014 Cadillac ELR whirs into Jay Leno's Garage
Tue, 18 Jun 2013While Jerry Seinfeld was gallivanting around LA with Sarah Silverman in a Jaguar XKE, our favorite car-loving comedian, Jay Leno, was checking out the all-new 2014 Cadillac ELR. Set to go on sale later this year, Cadillac brought its ELR to Jay Leno's Garage to show off some of its styling and technology as well as give Leno some seat time in the range-extended EV. Leno owns both a Volt and a CTS-V, and the ELR is a kind combination of the two (sort of).
In this episode, Leno spends some time talking to Frank Saucedo, GM director of advanced design, and ELR chief engineer Chris Thomason before logging a few miles on the sleek coupe. Interestingly, it seems that GM has definitely changed its tune a little since the introduction of the Volt a couple years ago; Saucedo and Leno both refer to the ELR as a hybrid, and Thomason says that it gets the "bulk of its propulsion" from the electric motors. Whatever you want to call it, scroll down to watch the latest episode of JLG with some great information and driving shots of the plug-in Cadillac.
