Up for auction is a very nice 1997 Cadillac DeVille sedan in Gold over tan. The car only has 58,650 miles. It has been owned by my wife's family since September, 1997 and had only 14,346 miles when they purchased it. My father in law passed away only a few months after purchasing it and my mother in law rarely drove it. It has always been kept under a carport and out of the weather and the condition shows that. The paint still has the luster that it had when new and the leather interior is soft and supple and shows very little wear. The carpet is clean and the headliner and door panels all appear as in new condition. In addition to almost looking new on the outside the inside still smells new. I have pictured the bottom of the doors and they are as clean as when the car left the assembly line and obviously have no rust. The car has a few small dings that are difficult to photograph.
I have driven it a little over 400 miles since the first of the year and can report that the Northstar V-8 performs impeccably with smooth and strong power delivery while the 4-speed automatic shifts smooth and effortlessly. The car runs and handles very well. It sports a set of new Uniroyal Tiger Paw Touring tires that, while quiet and smooth, provide excellent grip without sacrificing the smooth and effortless cruising these cars are known for. While installing the new tires the condition of the brake pads and rotors were examined and found to be in good condition. T
The climate control works as it should whether it is 65 or 20 degrees all the while in auto mode. Just set the desired temp and the climate control does the rest. The cruise control works, all windows function as they should, the door locks work, power seat controls work and the soft close trunk function still performs as it should. Even the light under the hood still works as it should!
What does not function properly? The power antenna does not retract although the motor operates so more than likely the gears are stripped. And the windshield washer pump does not function.
The simple reason for selling is that we are at a point where we do not need a car like this. If you are looking for a Cadillac of this vintage you will be hard pressed to find another this clean.
All the books are present and I have 4 sets of keys for the car.
Please look closely at all the photos and email with any questions and do not assume anything.  I will be happy to answer any questions and provide any additional photos upon request.
I can assist with shipping.
Good luck as someone will get a great automobile.
The car is also for sale locally so I reserve the right to cancel the listing at any time.

Cadillac rushing update for laggy CUE infotainment system

Tue, 05 Feb 2013

BMW's innovative iDrive was introduced in 2001, and a dozen years later, automakers are still learning hard lessons about what consumers want in their infotainment systems. In response to owner feedback - and a few media drubbings - about the delayed and occasionally fickle responses of its CUE (short for Cadillac User Experience) system, Cadillac has told Wired that it's going to issue an update this year.
Coming for the XTS and ATS, the new software will mean quicker haptic feedback to driver inputs on the touchscreen and the buttons, and snappier responses on screen. Down the road, Cadillac's VP of marketing says that a different mix of screen controls and hard buttons is "something you'll be seeing in the future" - the system is presently a mix of touchscreen-based controls and capacitive-touch switchgear - there are no knobs or physical pushbuttons to speak of, and the omission of both has proven to be a divisive issue among consumers and industry pundits.
Cadillac hasn't provided a date for when the CUE update will be issued, but it has indicated that the service will be performed by dealers, not sent wirelessly.

Cadillac ATS-V shares track time and new face with CTS-V sibling

Tue, 24 Jun 2014

It's been about eight months since we last heard anything on the eagerly anticipated Cadillac ATS-V, meaning it was high time a new batch of photos arrived of the twin-turbocharged, V6-powered sedan.
This latest round includes a shot of the hot ATS-V alongside the upcoming CTS-V, allowing us to glimpse through the camouflage and spot the family resemblance between the two über sedans. According to our spies, this is the first time we've gotten a look at the ATS-V's fascia without a nose bra to obscure larger details. This isn't the first time we've seen a vertically slated grille on an in-development Cadillac V car, although it is the first time we've seen it on the ATS-V. Aside from the main grille, the shapes of the sportier front fascia of the ATS-V tie in nicely with its big brother. We are rather curious about the hood on the ATS-V. It's difficult to tell from these images, but it looks like there may be some vents up there that may be meant to improve cooling to the alleged 425-horsepower engine.
Other details that we can see include swollen fenders and larger wheels that hide amplified brakes. The rear of the car remains heavily obscured by camo, with the sole details of note being the quad exhausts, which we've spotted on previous ATS-V prototypes.

GM recalling 54k Cadillac SRX, HD pickup models

Thu, 01 May 2014

There are more recalls to report General Motors, but these latest actions pertain to newer examples of the Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. With so much scrutiny on the company's recall strategy, GM is under increasing pressure to call in defective models more quickly, and it appears to be doing so here.
Here in the US, the automaker is recalling 50,571 Cadillac SRX crossovers from the 2013 model year fitted with the 3.6-liter V6 because the transmission control module programming can cause a three- or four-second lag in acceleration at low speeds. The explanation filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states, "if the following sequence occurs within two seconds: during an upshift from first to second gear (8-10 mph), the driver then brakes the vehicle to less than 5 mph, and then accelerates again," the delay can occur. According to Automotive News, the recall effects 56,400 vehicles worldwide, and the company is not aware of any crashes caused by the problem. The fix consists of a transmission control module (TCM) reflash.
In a separate recall, GM is repairing 51 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickups from the 2015 model year in the US. In vehicles with diesel engines and dual fuel tanks, the nuts that connect the fuel pipe to each side of the transfer pump between the tanks may be improperly torqued, which could cause a fuel leak. Obviously, this could be a fire hazard. The remedy is simply tightening the hardware. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, there have been no fires actually caused by the potential leak. "Only 21 of the trucks are in customer possession and they can be fixed anytime because there are no parts involved. The others are being fixed at dealerships," Adler said in an email to Autoblog.
