This auction is for a super clean, all original, low mileage 1975 Cadillac Coupe DeVille with only 19292 miles on it! This beauty was used for 1 year until the warranty expired, from then on it was garaged and only taken out for shows. This is by far the cleanest all original car that I've ever come across...everything except the gasoline, the oils/etc, and possibly the battery are all original...even the tires! The car was owned by a supervisor at the Fisher Body plant in West Mifflin Pa and was babied since it was new. Since this was a bosses car, it rec'd top rate detail when brought in. This beauty has never been in any type of wreck or collision and runs like a top...all 500 Cubic Inches of it! The white leather interior is in super condition with no age cracks or splits and no yellowing at all...it still smells new. The dash is in perfect shape and you can hear the old school mechanical clock running when the car is turned off. The car has no corrosion or damage of any type, with the exception of two paint blisters (about the size of a dime) where the Landau roof meets the car body on the passenger's side. These were not there when the photos were taken but were discovered when the car was examined about two months ago. The only issues I saw concerned the rear right tail light trip (which is loose) but a spare is included. There is also a small crack in the plastic in the back corner of the bumper near the right tail light...it appears to be a typical plastic age crack, but pictures of it are included. The two teflon sleeves on the door closers will need replaced (not unusual for these to crack and fall off) and the drivers side high beam light adjuster will need replaced as the light looks a bit downward...a very small fix. The window on the passenger's side works properly, but since there is no frame for the window to fit into, the window doesn't always line up when it is closed with the door open...it work perfectly when the door is closed. The engine is a massive 500 CI monster that runs like it was new and the car runs on unleaded gasoline. The tires are original and still in very nice shape but the beginnings of some dry cracking is notable if it is looked at closely...the spare is a full sized spare and has never been removed from the massive trunk. New tires will be needed as the current tires are a bit too old for my liking, although they still hold and keep air. The trunk is big enough to hold a full set of luggage and still have a lot of room left over...it is huge! The car has a white vinyl or leather landau style roof with the front of the roof being painted the same forest green. The chrome on the car is in super shape with no pitting or corrosion...even the front grille is in great shape. I had difficulties getting the hood to open as the release cable feels like it has hung up and I had to open the hood from underneath. The hood is currently open and I put some penetrating oil down the release cable, but I am reluctant to close it again in the event the cable doesn't have enough working space to open the latch (it was very close to opening, but needed about 1/2 inch to open freely. There are no real problems with the original forest green paint and there really isn't any stone chips (with one exception, which is on the corner of the hood and shown in one of the pictures) or road caused issues...the paint is still very deep and glossy. The car has been taken care of better than most babies...this car must be seen to be fully appreciated...it is immaculate. The car is kept indoors and under a car cover...please look at the photos to get a better idea of the super shape this beauty is still in...you will have to wait a looong time to find a car in better condition and with less mileage. While this Cadillac is in great shape, please keep in mind that this is all original and hasn't been restored or worked on at all. I have listed all of the problems that I am aware of and will update any issues that I find. The car is nice, but it is NOT a new vehicle and is bound to have some small issues that have gone un-noticed or un-detected, but I have listed as many of them as I am aware of. The title is clear but, unfortunately, will be listed as a duplicate title due to a previous sale that wasn't completed but had writing on it...I don't think the title will xfer with this incorrect information written on it, so I will need to contact the Pa DMV to get a new title issued. I apologize for this as I know most collectors dislike duplicate titles but it was done before the sale was finalized and can't be fixed...I will pay for the cost of the new title. This car can be shipped to you or picked up in the Pittsburgh, Pa area. Please, no scammers or rip-offs...I'm too busy to play your games. Payment will be accepted via a certified check, money order, wire transfer, or even personal checks (I don't think Paypal goes this high)...but before the car leaves my possession the funds must clear the bank...no exceptions! The car had the original title and I will include this with the sale. The original Cadillac owner's manual is not in the glovebox...I don't have it and it wasn't in the car when I bought it. There are current plates on the car presently, but there were Antique Plates on it when I purchased it. Please feel free to contact me with any questions!!

GM Design shows what could have been and what might be

Thu, May 27 2021

We periodically like to check in with GM Design's Instagram account to see what they're cooking up. Even better is when we catch a glimpse of an alternate history of what legendary designers from The General's past were thinking, though those ideas may not have made it into production. This week, for example, the account posted some illustrations from George Camp, whose career at GM spanned nearly four decades, from 1963 to 2001. One of the renderings is of what appears to be a 1971-72 Pontiac GTO Judge, but with two headlights instead of the production unit's quad beams. The rear departs from the canonical version most dramatically, with a massive integrated wing. Other bits that didn't make the production cut include large side vents, a gill-like side marker and rectangular intakes below the headlights that wouldn't be out of place on a modern design today. Amazingly, from what we can make out of the date, it appears that the drawing was done sometime in 1965, which makes it quite prescient.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) There's also a very aerodynamic interpretation of a Corvette ZR-1. To our eyes it splits the difference between the 1986 Corvette Indy concept and a fourth-generation F-body Pontiac Firebird, so perhaps parts of Camp's work on this sketch did make it into physical form. There's also a radical sports car concept from May 1970 that resembles the Mazda RX-500 concept from the same year, a Syd Mead-looking Cadillac coupe, and an Oldsmobile with a cool take on the company's trademark waterfall grille and elements of the Colonnade Cutlass at the rear. Other recent posts include a FJ Cruiser-like off-road EV, a sleek coupe with the Chevy corporate grille, and a rendering of a Silverado-esque pickup that looks far better than the current production version.           View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by GM Design (@generalmotorsdesign) It's pretty easy to lose hours in the account, but it's always fascinating to see GM's visions of what could have been and what might be. BMW reclaims US luxury sales crown from Mercedes

Tue, Jan 6 2015

The numbers, they are in: BMW has reclaimed the luxury-sales crown from Mercedes by a margin of 9,347 cars. Mercedes donned the king's headgear in 2013 after a strong final quarter of 2013 when the new CLA and S-Class poured out of dealerships. This year, led by the 3 Series/4 Series and X5, BMW sold 339,738 units – a 9.8-percent increase year-on-year. Mercedes, led by the C-Class and M-Class, saw its sales go up by 5.7 percent to 330,391 units. We'll have to wait a bit to see if there's another registrations-vs-sales challenge as in 2012, when BMW was anointed US luxury ruler. Behind them, a dark horse named Lexus nudged closer to the leading Teutons, selling 311,389 cars. The Japanese luxury automaker also had the biggest gain among the top three, its sales rising by 13.7 percent compared to 2013. Audi had the biggest sales of anyone among the top five, though, with a 15.2-percent gain to 182,011, which moved it a spot ahead of Cadillac; the Wreath-and-Crest brand dropped 6.5 percent to 170,750. Acura (167,843), Infiniti (117,300), and Lincoln (94,474) took the final positions. Speaking of Lincoln, sales at the once-mighty luxury marque stand as the mightiest jump of any on this list, up 15.6 percent. That's the power of Matthew McConaughey... and better cars and a new crossover, sure. So now that we're back to Round One of 2015, in case no one else has said it yet: "Ok, fight!"

Despite strong profits, GM still fighting flat market share

Fri, Jan 17 2014

Looking at the progress General Motors has made since it entered bankruptcy, it's easy to forget that the company still has a long way to go before it's the juggernaut it once was. A recent report from Reuters points out that, while GM is making money, it isn't making any gains in terms of US market share. Quite the opposite, really. Consider this factoid: In 1963, nearly half of the cars sold in the United States were from Chevrolet, Cadillac, Buick, GMC or Pontiac. Now, the company's US market share is stagnant at 17.9 percent. That same number is half of just Chevy's 1963 market share. This is all despite GM going on a binge replacing or updating its models. "Market share increases are not instantaneous," Mark Reuss told Reuters at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show. "We've got a lot of baggage. Don't underestimate what people though of us, or these brands, through these hardships and 30 years." The reasons for the stagnant market share are numerous. Reuters points out that retooling of factories and a focus on limiting incentives are both good things for profit, but not necessarily for market share. There's also the troubling turnover of the brand's marketing department. These issues don't change the fact that Chevrolet has lost 1.4 percent of its market share in two years, and that Cadillac - arguably GM's most improved brand overall - has lost 1.2 percent in the same period. Part of that can be blamed on GM's avoidance of fleet sales in favor of more profitable customer sales. "Our focus has really been on retail and that's where we've got the growth," said Alan Batey, GM's interim global marketing boss. "We want to grow GM and that means growing market share and profits, but it's not at all costs," Reuss said.
