1969 Cadillac Coupe de Ville Convertible
32,685 Original Miles!

I have owned this vehicle for over 10 years.  It has not seen rain or snow since I have owned it.  ALWAYS parked in a heated and air conditioned storage with a custom California Car Cover over it. It was sold new at Harry's Cadillac in Asheville North Carolina.  I have the original bill of sale, warranty, key pouch, and owner's manual. It is completely original including seats, top, carpet, windows, even the underhood insulation is there in excellent condition.  A picture speaks a thousand words however I'll go ahead and tell you what I have done since it has been in my possession.  I have receipts going back to 1995 for all other work.

Suspension/Brakes:
Complete front end taken out, sand blasted, new wheel bearings, upper and lower ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman arm, stabilizer link, strut bushings, all from Kanter Auto Products, Elgin coil springs with spring insulators, front calipers rebuilt and detailed, new front and rear pads and shoes, rear brake cylinders, master cylinder,  Every nut and bolt has been put in the Eastwood tumbler for a "as new" look.  All parts and pieces were individually painted before being re-assembled.  Five brand new Michelin tires on brand new 15"x 6" Coker tire 52 spoke wire wheels, spare on original rim.

Engine/Driveline:
The motor has been completely detailed, new valve cover gaskets, valve covers stripped down to bare metal and painted correct Cadillac blue for 1969.  EVERY SINGLE belt and hose, has been replaced including a/c and vacuum.  Voltage regulator, Alternator, Fan, Battery cables, starter solenoid, driver's side motor mount, oil pressure sending unit, plugs and wires, pcv valve and gromet, fuel and water pumps all replaced, carburator rebuilt and jetted.  Transmission rebuilt with new torque converter, B&M shift improver kit and deep sump oil pan for better cooling.  Complete new 3" stainless dual exaust.
Interior:

All new convertible top weatherstripping, rear quarter windows weatherstripping, all rubber stop bumpers at doors, hood, etc, replaced. Clock rebuilt with quartz movement, no rips in any of the leather, dash is perfect.

Exterior:
Nice repaint in original color, not sure when.  I had the hood painted a couple of years ago.  Some minor nicks and scratches, passenger front fender has small dent along with the lower piece of the bumper.  Besides that absolutely NO rust anywhere and a very clean body and shiny paint.

Vehicle is for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early.  $500.00 due withing 24 hours after end of auction.  Shipping is up to the buyer.

Cadillac Oscars ad shows none of its cars or trucks

Wed, Feb 18 2015

Can you sell something without actually showing the product in an ad? While this sounds like a question that Don Draper might have, Cadillac apparently thinks it's possible with at least one of the brand's three upcoming Oscars commercial. Days after whiting-out the company's social media presence in preparation for the new campaign, some of the advertising is finally here. Titled Dare Greatly, the first released spot goes for a stripped down, minimalist aesthetic. The entire piece is made up of voiceover and ambient noise set over slow-motion driving shots of New York City. Viewers catch a few out-of-focus glances at a Cadillac interior, but otherwise the only vehicles in the commercial are the ones parked along the street. The speech that is the centerpiece of the ad is all about the glory in just making an attempt, rather than criticizing others. "There is no effort without error and shortcoming," it says at one point. According to The Detroit Free Press, the text comes from a lecture by Teddy Roosevelt in 1910 at the Sorbonne in Paris. Cadillac's commercial never actually attributes the words to the former president, but the company is playing up the connection on social media. The full 1:30 version of the spot is already streaming online, but Cadillac is cutting the commercial into 30-second and 60-second versions to air during the Oscars, according to The Detroit Free Press. Of the brand's two other ads during the awards show, at least one of them shows the company's vehicles.

Junkyard Gem: 1997 Cadillac Catera

Sun, Jun 16 2024

GM's Cadillac Division was having a tough time in the early 1990s, with an onslaught of Lexuses and Infinitis pouring across the Pacific to steal their younger customers while high-end German manufacturers picked off their older customers. Flying an S-Class-priced model between assembly lines in Turin and Hamtramck hadn't worked out, so why not look to the European outposts of the far-flung GM Empire for the next Cadillac? That's how the Catera was born, and I have found a rare first-year example in a North Carolina car graveyard. Across the Atlantic, GM's Opel and Vauxhall were doing good business with prosperous European car buyers by selling them the sleek rear-wheel-drive Omega B (whose platform also lived beneath the Holden VT Commodore in Australia). Here was a genuine German design that competed with success against BMW and Audi on their home turf! So, the Omega B was Americanized and renamed the Catera. Opel wasn't a completely unknown brand to Americans at the time, since its cars were sold here with their own badging through Buick dealerships from the middle 1950s through the late 1970s (for a much shorter period, American Pontiac dealers attempted to sell Vauxhalls). Even after that, plenty of Opel DNA showed up in the products of U.S.-market GM divisions. The Catera was by far the most affordable Cadillac for 1997, with an MSRP starting at $29,995 (about $59,113 in 2024 dollars). Being a genuine German car, it looked much more convincingly European than the DeVille ($36,995), Eldorado ($37,995) and Seville ($39,995). Inspired by the ducks on the Cadillac emblem (they were really supposed to be martlets, mythical birds with no feet and occasionally lacking beaks), Cadillac's marketers went after youthful car shoppers with a whimsical animated duck named Ziggy. For the 21st century, the birds were removed from the Cadillac emblem in order to attract California buyers under 45 years of age. As we all know, the Catera flopped hard in the marketplace. What sold well in Europe turned out not to translate so well in in North America, especially when bearing the badges of such a historically prestigious brand. The Catera's engine was a 54-degree 3.0-liter V6 rated at 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet. Just as had been the case with its predecessor, the Allante, no manual transmission was available.

Your guide to vehicle subscription services

Mon, Oct 1 2018

They might be extremely limited in scope because of location availability, but vehicle subscription services are a growing trend that most luxury manufacturers are jumping on. Plans are expensive, but you're paying for much more than just the car typically. We highlighted four of the larger plans with a few more listed at the end. Care by Volvo Volvo launched its subscription service last year with its brand-new XC40. It was the only vehicle available for a time, but subscribers can now get an S60 sedan as well. Subscriptions are for two years, with the monthly price including insurance, a concierge service, wear-and-tear item replacements and all maintenance. You'll be able to drive 15,000 miles per year with whichever Volvo you choose, and although there are no options to extend that mileage, you can swap cars after a year. Pricing for the XC40 is $650 per month in base trim, while an S60 can be as expensive as $850 for the R-Design. Volvo's plan is to offer more cars soon through the service, but it's relatively limited compared to others right now. Porsche Passport Porsche has two levels in its subscription service: Launch and Accelerate. Launch will cost $2,000 per month and give you access to the Cayman, Boxster, Macan and Cayenne. All of those but the Cayenne can be had in "S" trim as well. Accelerate is where the fun really starts. For $3,000 per month you can choose from a fleet of 911s, including the S, 4S, Cabriolet and Cabriolet S. If those aren't enough, you can also get the Panamera 4S, Macan GTS and Cayenne S. There are no mileage limits and you can change vehicles as often as you'd like. Also included in the price is insurance, repairs, detailing and any maintenance. It might be extremely expensive and limited to Atlanta only, but this subscription service is second-to-none for what you get. Audi Select Audi just launched its subscription car service, and it's offered in one version for a flat fee of $1,395 per month. For that you'll have access to five different cars including the A4, S5 Coupe, A5 Cabriolet, Q5, and Q7. Not a bad range of vehicles, but it would've been neat to see the recently updated A7 in there too. Maybe in time. Like the others, insurance and maintenance are wrapped up in the price. Audi is allowing for unlimited miles and two car swaps per month here. In addition to that, you'll get two days of free rentals through Audi's Silvercar rental agency should you go on a trip.
