Vacaville, California, United States
1964 CADILLAC CONVERTIBLE 1 OWNER CAR! CALIFORNIA CAR BLACK PLATES FROM SOUTHERN CA BOUGHT NEW THEN MOVED TO NORTHERN CA IN 1972. RUST FREE! THIS SUPER SOLID CONVERTIBLE WAS ON THE ROAD UNTIL 1979 AND THEN GARAGED WHEN THE OWNER BECAME TOO OLD TO DRIVE. THE CAR WAS PARKED AND NOT RAN FOR 25 YEARS UNTIL 2004 WHEN THE ORIGINAL OWNER PASSED AWAY AND HIS DAUGHTER INHERITED THE CAR. SHE DECIDED TO PUT THE CAR BACK ON THE ROAD AT THAT TIME AND COMMISSIONED A COMPLETE ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, AND FUEL SYSTEM OVERHAUL AS WELL AS SUSPENSION, FRESHEN BALL JOINTS, TIE RODS, COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM OVERHAUL, NEW EXHAUST INSTALLED (VERY QUIET), AND NEW TIRES. THE CAR WAS TAKEN AT THAT TIME (2004) TO MAACO FOR PAINT (NOT A GREAT JOB), BUT SHE WANTED TO PROTECT THE BODY. SHE ELECTED NOT TO REMOVE ANY DINGS IN THE BODY FROM OVER 30 YEARS OF BOXES AND BELONGINGS STORED UP AGAINST THE CAR. SO WHILE THE BODY IS VERY STRAIGHT AND RUST FREE, IT DESERVES A GREAT PAINT JOB OR YOU CAN DRIVE IT AS IS AND NOT WORRY ABOUT PARKING LOT DINGS. THE BODY PANELS FIT EXCELLENT AS THIS CAR HAS NOT BEEN APART. THE DOORS OPEN AND SHUT TIGHT WITH NO SAGGING. THE CHROME IS IN FAIR CONDITION FOR OVER 50 YEARS. THE STAINLESS IS IN VERY GOOD CONDITION (ALL ORIGINAL). ALL WINDOWS, POWER TOP, POWER ANTENNA WORK. RADIO COMES ON BUT DOES NOT WORK. POWER SEAT MOTOR WORKS, BUT SEAT DOESN'T ADJUST. DASH AND DOOR PANELS ARE IN GREAT CONDITION. THE CARPET IS WORN BUT NOT TO FLOOR. THE ORIGINAL LEATHER NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THIS CAR DRIVES STRAIGHT, SMOOTH AND RUNS LIKE NEW WITH LESS THAN 1600 MILES ON THE COMPLETE REBUILD. THE ORIGINAL CARB COMES WITH THE CAR, BUT IT IS NOW RUNNING AN EDELBROCK. THE GLASS IS ALL IN GREAT SHAPE. THE TOP IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THE ZIP IN PLASTIC REAR WINDOW NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE BLACK PLATES ON THIS CAR ARE THE ORIGINALS TO THE CAR AS WELL AS REGISTRATIONS FROM THE EARLY 70'S. IN 2004 WHEN THE CAR WAS PLACED BACK INTO SERVICE, NEW PLATES WERE ISSUED AND THE CAR IS CURRENTLY REGISTERED WITH NEWER PLATES. THE ORIGINAL BLACK PLATES CAN BE REGISTERED WITH THIS CAR IN CALIFORNIA BECAUSE OF PROOF (ORIGINAL REGISTRATION CARDS) OF REGISTRATION. THE DAUGHTER DID NOT KNOW THAT AT THE TIME SHE PLACED THE VEHICLE BACK ON THE ROAD. THE RECEIPTS FOR THE REBUILD ON THE DRIVETRAIN TOTAL ABOUT $14,000 AND THE CAR HAS TRAVELED ABOUT 1600 MILES IN 10 YEARS SINCE ALL WORK WAS DONE. CURRENT MILEAGE SHOWS 30893. CALL MIKE FOR DETAILS (DAYS ONLY) FOR ANY ADDITIONAL DETAILS AT 707-246-4662. CAR IS SOLD IN AS IS CONDITION.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
2015 Cadillac ATS, CTS recalled over brake issue
Tue, Jun 23 2015A problem with the brakes on the 2015 ATS and CTS has prompted Cadillac to issue a recall. According to the notice below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue revolves around the bracket that connects the brake pedal assembly and the rod that actuates the brakes. Even under normal operation, that bracket could fracture, impeding the ability to slow or stop the vehicle. That, as you're surely aware, could increase the risk of a crash. The issue affects a reported 2,163 vehicles in the United States. Owners will need to be bring their vehicles in to their local dealership to have those brackets replaced starting on August 1. See the complete recall notice below. RECALL Subject : Brake Pedal Bracket may Fracture Report Receipt Date: JUN 09, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V358000 Component(s): SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC Potential Number of Units Affected: 2,163 Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2015 Cadillac ATS and CTS vehicles. The affected vehicles have a bracket between the brake pedal assembly and the rod that actuates the brakes that may fracture during normal brake pedal operation. CONSEQUENCE: If the bracket fractures, the driver would not be able to apply the brakes, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace any affected bracket, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin August 1, 2015. Owners may contact Cadillac customer service at 1-800-458-8006. GM's number for this recall is 15352. NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
Junkyard Gem: 1973 Cadillac Eldorado
Mon, Jun 13 2016The 1971-1978 Cadillac Eldorado was a gloriously ridiculous personal luxury coupe, packing a monstrous 500-cubic-inch V8 (that's 8.2 liters for you freedom-hating metric types) under its acre-sized hood for the first five years of production. Fuel economy was comfortably into single-digit territory, which meant you had to be a real high roller to be able to feed a new Eldo after OPEC turned off the oil spigot. I found this '73 in a Denver wrecking yard earlier this spring. View 18 Photos This car appears to have been sold new in Denver, and the extensive bodywork and sanded areas indicate that it was someone's project car prior to coming to the end of the line. The front-wheel-drive system used in the Cadillac Eldorados and Oldsmobile Toronados of this era was known as the Unified Powerplant Package, and it used a longitudinally-mounted engine feeding a chain-drive setup that proved to be amazingly sturdy and reliable. So sturdy, in fact, that it was used in gigantic front-wheel-drive GMC motorhomes. Everyone agrees that these cars are cool, but few are willing to rescue a rough example and take on the difficult and expensive job of a full restoration. This one isn't rusty, but that wasn't enough to save it. Related Video:
