1960 Cadillac Coupe De Ville A/c True Survivor Hard Top 2 Door on 2040-cars
Mangum, Oklahoma, United States
Up for auction is one 1960 Cadillac Coupe De Ville. By my understanding having the "J" in the VIN makes it a true coupe De Ville and not a series 62. If my research and knowledge is incorrect please let me know. The car is in above average condition considering being 50+ years old.
The body is in clean and straight with no issues. As noted the only rust through is located on the lower rear corners of the front fenders. The floor pans and rockers along with the inner trunk structure and undercarrige are rust free. The chassis is rust free as well and at all body mounting points. All the exterior is in nice shape but is in need of paint. The color has faded but no surface rust around any glass etc... All glass is in nice condition and all power windows and electronics work including 6 way power seat. I have recenetly installed a brand new OEM style spotlight and (rare) bracket on the car since the original spotlight and bracket were missing. The Air Breather and Valve Covers have been professionally painted with base coat and clear coat and look great. The vehicle will come with an extra drivers side door panel and a set of hub caps. The tires all have weather cracks and would probably need to be replaced.
The car is mechanically sound and runs and drives great. The vehicle has new push rods, lifters, fuel filter, fuel pump, transmission filter, cap rotor, iginition coil, stater, battery, oil filter, oil, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, anti-freeze, new intake gaskets, spark plugs, spark plugs wires, belts, hoses, and master cylinder. The transmission is in good condition and was free of any sludge build up or debris when the filter and fluid were replaced. The transmission shifts great and responds normally. The igintion system has had a full tune up and almost all of the ignition electronics have been replaced. The engine has had a recent oil change and the old oil was free of and metal shavings or debris. The cooling system has been completely flushed and had all of the anti freeze replaced with no abnormalities in the old antfreeze when changed. The carburetor has been fully rebuilt and cleaned and is a factory carburetor with electric choke. The car has factory dual exhaust but has rust throughout various spots but car is still quiet; however, the exhaust will need to be replaced.
The car runs and drives well. You could say its like driving a recliner down the road. The air conditioning on the vehicle works but will need a charge in order for the air conditioning to be 100%. The heater inside the vehicle works great and blows hot without any leaks. The car is a true survivor that has not been molested and would make a great car for someone to restore and bring back fond memories or make new ones. The car would make for a great restoration or a great daily driver as is.
I offer no warranty with this car and please let me know if you have any questions via email through ebay. Serious inquiries can feel free to send a phone number and I will be happy to give them a call for more details or questions. Please contact me before you bid if you have less than 5 positive feedback but are seriously interested in the vehicle. I would prefer to have bidders that have more than 5 feedback. Paypal is a requirement for purchasing the vehicle because I do require a $500 deposit to be paid 48 hours after the auction closing with the remaining balance paid 7 days after auction closing.
Buyer will be resposible for the pick up and shipping of the vehicle. The vehicle can be picked up at a business with a large parking lot. Common carriers I have had good luck with in the past include DAS and Uship or you can use a carrier of your choice.
Thank you for taking the time to show interest in this vehicle. |

Hear the new Cadillac CTS-V torture some tires
Thu, Dec 25 2014The 2016 Cadillac CTS-V seems like the type of wonderful gift that Santa might cook up in his workshop for one extraordinarily good boy or girl. However, the first chance for most people to actually see the super sedan and its carbon fiber pieces in real life is at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show in January. As a stocking stuffer until then, Caddy has released this video highlighting the latest V-Series roasting its tires better than any dinner for the holidays. With the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 from the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 nestled into the CTS-V's engine bay, the Cadillac certainly has quite a bark coming from its exhaust. The mill might be detuned slightly from the 'Vette to 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque, but that's still plenty for this smoky application. Enjoy this tease of the future V-Series, ahead of the Detroit show. What if the mid-engine Corvette is really a Cadillac?
Tue, Jun 28 2016Call me crazy, but I'm not convinced the mid-engine Corvette is the next Corvette. The rumor is strong, yes. And, contrary to some of the comments on our site, Car and Driver - leader of the mid-engine Corvette speculation brigade - has a pretty good record predicting future models. But it's another comment that got me thinking: or maybe it's a Cadillac. There is clearly something mid-engine going on at GM, and I think it makes sense for the car to be a Cadillac. First off, check out how sweet the 2002 Cadillac Cien concept car still looks in the photo above. Second, there are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. There are too many holes in the mid-engine Corvette theory. The C7 is relatively young in Corvette years, starting production almost three years ago as a 2014 model. Showing a 2019 model at the 2018 North American International Auto Show would kill sales of a strong-selling car before its time. Not to mention it would only mean a short run for the Grand Sport, which was the best-selling version of the previous generation. More stuff doesn't add up. Mid-engine cars are, in general, more expensive. Moving the Vette upmarket leaves a void that the Camaro does not fill. There's not much overlap between Camaro and Corvette customers. Corvette owners are older and enjoy features like a big trunk that holds golf clubs. Mid-engine means less trunk space and alienating a happy, loyal buyer. Also, more than 60 years of history. The Corvette is an icon along the likes of the Porsche 911 and Ford Mustang. I'm not sure the car-buying public wants a Corvette that abandons all previous conventions. And big changes bring uncertainty - I don't think GM would make such a risky bet. Chevrolet could build a mid-engine ZR1, you might say, and keep the other Corvettes front-engine. Yes they could, and it would cost a ton of money. And they still need to fund development of that front-engine car. I highly doubt the corporate accountants would go for that. But a Cadillac? Totally. Cadillac is in the middle of a brand repositioning. GM is throwing money at this effort. A mid-engine halo car is the just the splash the brand needs to shake off the ghosts of Fleetwoods past. And it's already in Cadillac President Johan De Nysschen's playbook. He was in charge of Audi's North America arm when the R8 came out. A Caddy sports car priced above $100,000 isn't that unreasonable when you can already price a CTS-V in that range.
Combine a self-driving car with V2V, and here's what happens
Sat, Dec 12 2015Transportation engineers have started laying the groundwork for a traffic world in which cars communicate with other cars and infrastructure like bridges and traffic lights. How about an environment in which cars talk to pretty much everything and everyone? In a preview of its offerings at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show, Delphi Automotive will deploy just such a concept. Engineers have designed a system that communicates with traffic signals, street signs, pedestrians, cyclists, even to fry pits and parking garages along a driver's route. To date, engineers and researchers across the auto industry have focused on the technical and safety-oriented foundation of future vehicle-to-vehicle communications, which could help cars share information about everything from traffic tie-ups to upcoming road hazards. Beyond those building blocks, many have projected that V2V could also include more consumer-focused features. Delphi's system, dubbed V2Everything, might be the first that combines those sorts of features in a tangible package. At CES in Las Vegas, scheduled to begin the first week of January, company officials say they'll demonstrate in real-world conditions how V2V technology can be used in an autonomous vehicle to provide a range of critical safety information and leisure and convenience options for riders. The first V2V technology installed on a production car is slated to appear on the 2017 Cadillac CTS. "We imagine a world with zero traffic accidents," said Jeff Owens, Delphi's chief technology officer. "To get there, we will need a convergence of active safety, sensor fusion, connectivity platforms and advanced software." Such software might allow a vehicle to start searching for and reserving parking spots at a programmed destination long before arriving. It could allow riders to place their McDonald's drive-through order from the road and have the food ready for pickup along the route. For the drive itself, the Delphi-equipped car can stay updated on the status of traffic lights around Las Vegas, and can anticipate yellow and red lights. Using smart-phone technology, the car can detect pedestrians and cyclists that may otherwise be hard to see. It can send messages to friends or family to notify them of a driver's location. Some of those features have been available on third-party apps or individually developed by automakers. But this system marries them together in a single system that is tailored for use in self-driving cars.
