1958 Cadillac Sedan Deville Base 4dr Ht White Survivor Caddy on 2040-cars
West Islip, New York, United States
1958 Cadillac Sedan DeVille extended deck model. I am moving in July and need to sell it ASAP. Reasonable reserve and will remove to meet close bidders!
This 58 caddy is a multiple trophy/award winner at shows. True and original survivor car. Original paint in most parts (some respray may have been done but matching job must have been done expertly, so you can't really tell), original interior and carpet, original 365ci 310hp 8cyl engine - all in excellent shape for a retirement-aged car. Recently new carberator, drum brakes, battery. Brand new starter/solenoid. Solid straight car with great metal. Only 72,291 miles! Speedo works, trip meter works, wipers work, odometer works, horn works, headlights work, reverse lights work and blinkers work. Power windows work, though you should be cautious with the front driver's side and guide it down at first (sometimes it sticks up top). Power antenna and original AM radio both work. No trunk rot, no floor rot - a rust free car. I drive it every weekend in the nice weather, and it will start right up for you after months of not using. Always passes inspection with ease. This is a real gem - even the headliner is immaculate. The negatives? Not many, and they're minor. Some parts of the paint job (one rear driver's side quarter panel and part of driver side roof) look like they have lost a bit of their shine, but very minimal and I think a detail job or a good thorough waxing will bring it up to par. Small ding in rear bumper chrome. A few spots in rear chrome are foggy. One or two very small trim pieces around rear headlights have some pitting in the chrome. Occasional lifter noise but an oil change to straight 30 and some marvel mystery oil or lucas oil stabilizer should do the trick. Occasional oil drip from the rear main seal - but I haven't had to add oil in the two years that I've had it. Power seat needs a new motor (electric is fine). One particular 9 amp fuse for interior lights occasionally blows out. Gas gauge is hit or miss - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't (mostly it doesn't). Likely a problem with the in-tank float. Rear seat has some stitching undone between leather and fabric - not ripped, only lack of thread or sewing string. Last would be that it probably could use a new or refurbished neutral safety switch. Sometimes I need to jiggle the shifter up and down before turning the key, but that's rare. It's an honest car, with nothing to hide. Frankly it is incredible; you will turn heads and grab the attention of everyone you pass. There aren't many others like it around. Big beautiful and elegant fins. I love it but I'm moving into Manhattan. I've owned the car for almost two years, but I have a neat and organized binder of all the receipts and service slips, motor manuals and cadillac shop books/literature from the two prior owners as well. For more PICTURES and VIDEO please contact me directly or go to my photo website or youtube page: vintod photography dot com slash 1958cadillac -or- youtube dot com slash vintod I typically show it on Saturday evenings at the Bob's / McDonalds in West Islip on Sunrise Hwy, and also Sunday mornings at the old OBI parking lot, if you happen to be local. SRX-replacing Cadillac XT5 spied for the very first time
Thu, 30 Oct 2014Cadillac has got big plans in place to revitalize its lineup, with new sedans, coupes and crossovers. And it all starts with this, the replacement for the SRX.
Expected to be called XT5 in line with the brand's new naming scheme, the crossover will be based on a scalable new platform called C1XX - or Chi, for short. In its shorter form, Chi is anticipated to underpin the XT5 as well as a new Chevy crossover and the next-gen GMC Acadia. In long-wheelbase form, the platform is slated to give us a larger Cadillac crossover as well as a new Buick Enclave and Chevy Traverse.
Power in the XT5 will be provided by a choice of turbo four or atmospheric six, potentially to be transmitted through GM's new nine-speed automatic.
2013 Cadillac XTS [w/video]
Wed, 30 Jan 2013The Cadillac Of Stopgaps
As confusing as most alphanumeric car names have gotten in recent years, at least one constant has been that the letter "X" is generally indicative of a crossover. Then why did General Motors use this letter on its new 2013 Cadillac XTS luxury sedan? Well, for that, we'll have to look to the world of mathematics where "X" stands for an unknown variable or a placeholder. Now we're talking. The XTS is just an interim product sitting at the top of Cadillac's four-door food chain until the brand gets a true flagship in place. That sounds like a lot of resources to spend on what will likely be a one-and-done model, but the automaker needed to get something - anything - to replace the DTS.
So here you have the 2013 XTS. A big luxury sedan that was created to bridge the gap between Cadillac's recent past and its pending future. Going into our week with this XTS knowing that it was a stopgap measure proved to be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, we know (or hope) that this car will act as a baseline for future high-end Cadillac models, but at the same time, we couldn't help but be mindful of past stopgap models, albeit in more entry-level segments, like the Cimarron and Catera.
2014 Cadillac ELR whirs into Jay Leno's Garage
Tue, 18 Jun 2013While Jerry Seinfeld was gallivanting around LA with Sarah Silverman in a Jaguar XKE, our favorite car-loving comedian, Jay Leno, was checking out the all-new 2014 Cadillac ELR. Set to go on sale later this year, Cadillac brought its ELR to Jay Leno's Garage to show off some of its styling and technology as well as give Leno some seat time in the range-extended EV. Leno owns both a Volt and a CTS-V, and the ELR is a kind combination of the two (sort of).
In this episode, Leno spends some time talking to Frank Saucedo, GM director of advanced design, and ELR chief engineer Chris Thomason before logging a few miles on the sleek coupe. Interestingly, it seems that GM has definitely changed its tune a little since the introduction of the Volt a couple years ago; Saucedo and Leno both refer to the ELR as a hybrid, and Thomason says that it gets the "bulk of its propulsion" from the electric motors. Whatever you want to call it, scroll down to watch the latest episode of JLG with some great information and driving shots of the plug-in Cadillac.
