THIS IS A TOTAL FUN MACHINE!!....I HAVE USED IT FOR PARTIES AS A LIMO....I HAVE USED IN FOR BUISNESS TO PICK UP CUSTOMERS....A FRIEND USED IT FOR A CATERED PARTY AS A PROMOTIONAL CAR....YOU CAN ATTACH SIGNS TO THE SIDE AND USE IT FOR ADVERTIZING....AND IT RUNS AND DRIVES GREAT!!....I TAKE IT TO CAR SHOWS ALL THE TIME AND TRICK A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW WHAT IT IS......IT STARTED LIFE AS A 4-DOOR, THE TOP WAS REMOVED AND THE REAR BOOT IS FAKE BUT SUPPORTED TO HOLD PEOPLE WEIGHT SO IT CAN BE USED IN PARADES FOR SEATING. THE CAR HAS AN X-FRAME SO THE ROOF BEING REMOVED DIDN'T EFFECT IT. THE "PARADE" BAR OVER THE FRONT SEAT HAS DOUBLE DUTY...SOMETHING TO HOLD ON TOO WHEN STANDING OR ENTERING THE CAR, AND PROVIDES SUPPORT FOR REAR DOORS. THE INTERIOR IS ALL NEW AND ALWAYS IMPRESSES ITS RIDERS AND CAR SHOW FANS. THE CAR WAS GONE THROUGHT AND CHECK AND/OR REPAIRED TO MAKE IT A GREAT FUN DRIVER! THE LIGHTS ALL WORK, IT DRIVES AND STOPS WELL WITH POWER STEERING AND BRAKES. THE SPEEDO AND DASH GAUGES-LIGHTS DONT WORK...NEVER HAD TIME OR NEED TO FIX. Cadillac snags de Nysschen from Infiniti, names him new president
Fri, 11 Jul 2014Johan de Nysschen, the (now former) president of Infiniti, has officially jumped ship. The 54-year-old, who also spent time as the chief executive for Audi USA, has taken the position of president at Cadillac, following a two-year stint at the Nissan-owned luxury brand. In his new role, the 54-year-old will be responsible "for all aspects of Cadillac globally," according to a statement from General Motors.
"Johan brings to our company vast experience in the development and proper execution of luxury automotive brands," said GM President Dan Ammann, de Nysschen's new boss. "With over 20 years in this exact space, especially in the development of the Audi brand, his track record proves he is the perfect executive to lead Cadillac for the long term."
"I have for some time now been impressed by how the new General Motors has been transformed into a formidable force in the industry," de Nysschen said in a statement. "The combination of strong corporate leadership and exceptional engineering resources presents the perfect combination to restore Cadillac to its place among global premium brands."
Dodge Dart falls short of Consumer Reports Recommended, Caddy XTS and Lincoln MKS, too
Thu, 22 Nov 2012The Dodge Dart, Cadillac XTS and Lincoln MKS all failed to earn a "Recommended" rating from Consumer Reports. When it came to the compact Dart, the organization's testers thought the vehicle offered a quiet cabin, solid-feeling chassis and nimble suspension, but the new model ultimately fell short of the coveted rating due to powertrain issues. The institute's reviewers found the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to be underpowered and noted "drivability issues" when the available turbocharged 1.4-liter four was paired with the optional dual-clutch transmission (some of our editors disliked it paired with the six-speed manual). CR also dinged the latter powerplant for sounding "raspy." For what it's worth, we think the forced-induction engine offers an excellent and playful exhaust note, but that's just us.
As for the XTS, CR lauded the car for its luxurious cabin, but the vehicle's experience was dulled by its finicky CUE infotainment interface. Overall, the big Cadillac scored much higher than its cross-town rival from Lincoln. While testers found the American luxury sedan to offer a quiet ride and quality fit and finish, they felt the MKS delivered a "cramped driving position, ungainly handling, uncomposed ride, and limited visibility." Ouch. At the end of the day, both cars fell short of rivals from Japan, Germany and Korea. Check out the full press release below with more details, along with CR's musings on the Chevrolet Spark and Lexus ES.
