Cadillac boss: We will have diesels

Johan de Nysschen doesn't usually mince words about his plans, and the Cadillac boss says that diesel-fueled models are on the horizon for the luxury brand in the US by the early 2020s. The four- and six-cylinder engines under development would launch first in Europe about 2019. "We will definitely bring them to the US," de Nysschen said during a press event, according to Automotive News. Unfortunately, the Cadillac president isn't saying which models would get the diesels, yet. This plan has been in the works for at least several months, and Cadillac made mention of the two oil-burners earlier this year during the unveiling of its new V6 engine. De Nysschen broached the possibility during an interview at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, and he also referred to the inclusion of hybrids and plug-ins into the company's lineup at that time. Last year, a rumor suggested the addition of a V6 turbodiesel into the Escalade range. There were also rumblings of an oil-burning ATS during that model's launch. While Cadillac is no stranger to offering diesels in Europe, the decision to develop these new ones could come at an inopportune time. Governments there are rapidly moving against the fuel in favor of electrification. Tighter emissions regulations could also be on the way for the EU. Related Video:

Brock Lesnar does M. Bison impression on Cadillac CTS

There's no doubt that a huge amount of physicality is required to survive night after night in the ring as a professional wrestler. Conversely, the storylines that tie all the action together are as staged as any soap opera. However, there's nothing fake about watching two axes being embedded in a Cadillac CTS by WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar. Lesnar's prodigious brawn was really putting this luxury sedan out of its misery, though. With matte black stripes on the hood, fake fender vents, camouflage along the side, and a decal proclaiming "Redneck" on the windshield, this particular Cadillac was far from the standard of the world. In favor of the CTS' build quality, Lesnar's hatchets didn't immediately do quite as much damage as you might expect, and he had to take several swings to achieve the destruction here. If you think that destroying a sedan one piece at a time sounds like something from a video game, you aren't alone. Someone else noticed a definite similarity to the bonus round from Street Fighter 2 where you get points for beating up a car at the dockside until it falls apart. Appropriate sound effects were even added, but having Lesnar throw a few pixelated fireballs would have been a nice inclusion, too. GM recalling Cadillac ATS, XTS, Chevy Impala over faulty brake lamps

General Motors has issued a recall covering 1,627 sedans over faulty brake lamps. Both the 2013 Cadillac ATS and XTS are affected by this problem, as is the 2014 Chevrolet Impala.
According to an official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, "the brake lamps may intermittently flash without the brakes being applied and the cruise control may disengage" on these vehicles. The report does not state that the brakes themselves are faulty, but rather that "if the brake lamps flash when the vehicle is not slowing, a following driver may not adjust vehicle speed when the vehicle is in fact braking."
This marks the first recall for the 2013 Cadillac ATS, as well as the recently introduced 2014 Chevy Impala. In late 2012, over 12,000 Cadillac XTS models were recalled due to a head restraint issue.
