1978 Cadillac Seville

Breathtaking 1978 Cadillac Seville!  This particular vehicle is an outstanding example of elegance, style and muscle.  Done in stunning silver/gray metallic, it has matching leather interior that is just as remarkable.

Driven only 40k original miles, this show car winner has been meticulously maintained and 100% garage kept.  It has been enhanced with brand new 19 inch BBS rims along with brand new Goodyear tires.

Everything mechanically works perfectly.  The problematic fuel injection system of the late 70's is not present in this automobile.  That is because it has been replaced with a carbureted system professionally installed by a certified mechanic and Master GM technician.  It has been fully serviced and its New Jersey inspection sticker does not expire until July 2016.

It has all the power options available for 1978 including 6-way power seats, power windows, power steering, power door locks, power trunk pull-down, power antenna, etc.  A tilt and telescopic steering wheel along with cruise control are also present on this extraordinary automobile.

What I (especially) like about this car is that it drives like you are floating on a cloud and yet it has this distinctive, throaty rumble as you accelerate away... which is not really loud, but just thunderous enough to give you a feeling of true power and performance.

As you know, this model (made only from 1976 thru 1979) has dramatic styling and elegance and, with the addition of 19 inch rims, stands outrageously strong and actually looks statuesque when standing.  I think the best part about this Seville is its rare hardtop.  It just looks so much better than the tattered landau roofs of the 1970's.

PURCHASE GUARANTEE:

Hold your check!  If you are the winner of this auction and you are coming in person to pick up the vehicle, I do not need a deposit.  Look at the car after you purchase it.  Inspect it with your mechanic and take it for a test drive.  If you like what you see, the car is yours!  If you don't like what you see or if you have buyer's remorse, no worries.  Keep your money.  I will simply relist the vehicle.

I don't want anyone having second thoughts about bidding on this automobile.

Feel free to print this page and bring it with you as proof of my guarantee.  However, if you win this auction and choose not to inspect the vehicle but rather have the car shipped directly to you instead, then (of course) I cannot offer a purchase guarantee.

This is indeed a rare find.  Those of you who have been looking for this particular model know just how hard it is to find a '76 thru '79 hardtop in such pristine condition, with such low mileage and finished in such nice matching colors.  Then, to ultimately have it converted to a carbureted system is not only time-consuming, but a costly endeavor if you plan on doing it the right way with a Master GM technician.

Thank you for taking the time to appreciate this true classic.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

I reserve the right to end this auction early.

Car has 2 sets of keys with remote.

De Nysschen says Cadillac will be ready for a $250,000 model in 15 years

Fri, Nov 21 2014

Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen has some very, very lofty goals for the American luxury car manufacturer. That's according to a new report from Reuters, where the former Audi and Infiniti exec says that Cadillac is only 15 years away from selling a $250,000 car. "It is too early today for a $250,000 Cadillac," de Nysschen told Reuters at the LA Auto Show. "Fifteen years from now, it won't be." Now, provided de Nysschen doesn't envision a future of hyper-inflation, where an ATS rings up at $200K and a CTS at $225,000, the idea that Cadillac could sell a car worth a quarter-of-a-million dollars in just 15 short years is the very definition of ambitious. That's doubly true when you realize that, at present, Cadillac's most expensive vehicle is the Escalade ESV Platinum, which costs no more than $97,940, while de Nysschen said the upcoming CT6 sedan will be priced "in the 70s." What do you think? Could a Cadillac that costs well over twice as much as the brand's most expensive current vehicle be a reality in the distant future? Or is de Nysschen aiming too high too soon? Let us know what you think in Comments. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Jae C. Hong / AP Cadillac Luxury cadillac ct6

General Motors could turn Hamtramck into its electric pickup, SUV hub

Fri, Nov 15 2019

Electric off-roaders could revitalize the Detroit-Hamtramck factory that General Motors previously announced it will close. While official details remain shrouded in secrecy, analysts believe the plant will be re-tooled to manufacture at least three electric models due out during the early 2020s. The plant's scheduled closure was one of the grievances the United Auto Workers (UAW) union cited when it embarked on a 40-day strike in September 2019. General Motors agreed to keep it open without shedding much light on what it planned to build there. Analyst at LMC Automotive told the The Detroit News they believe an often-rumored electric SUV that will resurrect Hummer's name, image, or both will be one of the models assigned to the Hamtramck plant. Battery-powered variants of the GMC Sierra and the Cadillac Escalade will be made there, too, as will an enigmatic van. LMC Automotive's Jeff Schuster believes the van will come first; it could enter production as early as 2021. The Hummer — which might also be offered as a pickup — will follow before the end of 2022, while the Sierra and the Escalade will both arrive in 2023. We're taking this report with a grain of salt, though, because only one of the aforementioned models has been announced by General Motors. Rumors of a Hummer resurrection emerged in the summer of 2019, just a few weeks before we heard unverified reports of a battery-powered variant of the next-generation Escalade. General Motors confirmed plans to enter the burgeoning electric pickup truck segment, which Ford, Rivian, and Tesla also have their sights on, but it hasn't detailed how or when. The van is a mystery. General Motors refused to comment on the report. It previously announced it will keep Hamtramck open, and invest $3 billion to build electric vehicles there. The investment will create 2,225 jobs. Inaugurated in February 1985, the Hamtramck factory has churned out a diverse selection of models over the past 34 years, including Cadillac's Eldorado, Seville, and Allante, the Oldsmobile Toronado, the Buick Riviera, and more recently, gasoline-electric Chevrolet Volt. General Motors announced plans to close Hamtramck in 2018, but it quickly backpedaled and extended its lease on life until 2020 by keeping the Chevrolet Impala and the Cadillac CT6 around for a few additional months.

GM to build $1.3 billion Cadillac plant in China

Wed, 08 May 2013

General Motors has gotten approval to build a $1.3 billion manufacturing facility for its Cadillac brand in China. China's National Development and Reform Commission signed off on plans for GM to build the plant in the country's Shanghai's Jinqiao zone; construction is expected to begin in June of this year. According to a Bloomberg report, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 150,000 units.
No surprise here, but Cadillac would like to sell a lot more cars in the plush Chinese luxury market. The brand moved only 30,010 cars in China last year, compared with 400k for Audi, and about 330k for BMW. With Cadillac already telling us that it would be moving production of its XTS sedan to China - a production decision that saves having to pay 25-percent import tariffs - approval of the factory is a critical win for the company.
In fact, according to earlier comments by GM China president Bob Socia, it's at least conceivable that Chinese-built Cadillacs could be shipped back to the US for sale. The brave new world of globalization, getting stranger by the minute.
