Gorgeous, Rare 61 Cadillac Convertible, 84k, Like New, Not 1959 1960 1962 1963 on 2040-cars

Gorgeous 1961 Caddy Deville Convertible Here's my 61 Convertible Caddy, the one car I never thought I'd let go. It's won awards at car shows and will usually get at least one "Ok, how much do you want for the Caddy" at cruise nights. Fans of this body style Caddy know that the 61 is particularly stylish; the taillight treatments and "double fins" in the rear make this a uniquely stunning classic. According to Hagerty and several other classic car sources, a 1961 Cadillac Convertible in this condition is worth anywhere from $39,000 to $75,000, so my asking price is reasonable. The car is titled in my name, tagged, insured and on the road with a current NY state inspection sticker. I'm only selling due to finances. 84k, 390 V8. Options include six way power bench seat, power windows, power top with boot cover, color coded hubcaps, power brakes and power steering. Caddy convertibles from this era are steadily climbing in value, especially the 1961 and 1962 body styles. This is from Hagerty.com: "Cadillac continued to list its premium Series 62 hardtops as "de Ville" models through 1964. While the spectacular 59s entertained with their astounding tailfins, the 60 Coupe de Villes exhibited exquisite form. From 1959 on, Sedan de Villes were offered in four-window and six-window models, with the four-window editions featuring especially attractive rooflines. The deeply sculpted 61 de Ville models sported dramatic space-age styling with racy, thin-pillar rooflines and rocket-inspired fins, complemented by lower-body "skeg lines. 1962 models were readily distinguished by their more formal rooflines. Smoothly unadorned flanks gave the 1963 editions a fresh infusion of what chief designer Chuck Jordan called the grace and spirit" of all great Cadillacs. Along with exterior refinements for 1964, a new 340-hp 429-cid engine replaced the 390-cid variants of 1959-63, and the Turbo-Hydramatic was introduced. With the exception of the universally cherished 59s, de Villes of this era are relatively affordable today. As period Cadillac convertible values climb with the speed of an Atlas rocket, any top-notch hardtop or convertible DeVille looks all the more appealing today." Mechanical: It's always been meticulously cared for, all service and regular maintenance have been performed on schedule. I bought the Caddy from a older collector in Connecticut, he's had it in a heated garage since the mid 70's. I was told the 84k on the odometer is original, my mechanic thinks it is genuine as well. The engine was rebuilt in the mid 90's, under 10k on motor. The engine compartment was painted when the rebuild was done. Recent work includes front end work, brake system gone through, rebuilt carburetor, new sending unit for gas gauge, refurbished radiator, full tuneup including Pertronix electronic ignition and Flamethrower coil (original points setup and coil in trunk), air shocks in the rear and gas shocks up front, and new belts and hoses. The power windows work perfectly and the power top raises and lowers easily. The top was replaced about seven years ago and got a new motor and hoses at the same time. The convertible top "arms" are chromed which I thought was a classy touch. The lights work, the heater works, the radio works through the front and rear speakers, the power antenna works and the power seat works. Clock does not work, "trumpet" horn does. The transmission has developed a slow leak recently. I haven't looked into it, just add fluid as needed. The wide "Portowall" whitewall inserts and new radials are on the car now. Cosmetic: The Caddy got new paint in 2000 in the original Champagne Aspen Gold with a modern metal flake finish. It glitters nicely in the sunshine and the body is straight as an arrow. The door panels and seats were redone as well, the leahter and vinyl are supple and the seats are cushy. The car has never seen winter, it's always been a "Garage Queen". All the glass is in very good shape, no scratches or hazing. I don't know if the bumpers were rechromed but they look like new. The first 16 photos below were taken this past weekend, the rest are from a car show and a wedding. The shots of the underside are from when I first got the car, as you can see by the old shocks and tires. The Caddy starts right up even after sitting for months and the engine has a nice purr. Runs very strong, tracks straight as an arrow and brakes evenly, no pulling or fading. She idles perfectly, temperature needle never varies, shifts smoothly, tracks straight, stops easily and the suspension is luxurious. Simply a pleasure on the highway, it handles well for a car of this size. Drives overall like an American classic luxury cruiser should. Overall a beautiful example of a classic American convertible. On the highway she'll get 13-15 MPG, pretty good for an early 60's luxury cruiser. The directional/brake/turn signal/headlights/brights work properly as well as the wipers and horn. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Caddy is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. Chinese-made Cadillac CT6 Plug-In starts US sales
Thu, Apr 13 2017General Motors has started US sales of the Cadillac CT6 Plug-In after taking its first domestic deliveries of the China-produced sedan last month. The model is GM's first new plug-in hybrid in the US since the automaker discontinued sales of the ELR extended-range plug-in last year. The arrival and sales, first reported by InsideEVs, were confirmed by Cadillac spokesman Andrew Lipman. Not surprisingly, the sedan isn't cheap, as the CT6 Plug-In is priced at $75,095, or almost $12,000 more than the gas-powered variant, though that figure doesn't include federal and state tax credits for electric vehicles. For that tab, buyers get a 335-horsepower luxury car that can go 31 miles on electricity alone, and 0-60 miles per hour in a little over 5 seconds. The model gives GM three plug-in vehicles to sell to the American public, or the same number US competitor Ford offers. InsideEVs estimates that about 100 of the sedans have been delivered to US dealers, so the car remains a relatively low-volume affair. By comparison, GM's Chevrolet division has sold 5,563 Volt extended-range plug-ins and 3,092 Bolt electric vehicles through March. Cadillac sold 534 units of the ELR in 2016 after moving 1,024 the previous year. GM opted to produce the plug-in hybrid in China because of that country's receptiveness to new models that feature alternative and environmentally friendlier powertrains. Additionally, such production shortens the distance to the CT6's battery maker LG Chem, which is producing the car's battery packs in South Korea. On that note, GM has previously estimated that the Cadillac CT6 Plug-In will move more units in China than in the US. Related Video:
Car and Driver 10Best list cracked by Tesla Model S, BMW 3 Series left off
Fri, Nov 21 2014Car and Driver is keeping new blood pumping into its annual 10Best cars list with three new entries making it on for 2015 and a perennial favorite falling off. Among the biggest shocks this year is that the BMW 3 Series and 4 Series are no longer named, despite years of some portion of that lineup earning a mention. In another surprise, the Tesla Model S (specifically in S 60 trim to fit under the $80,000 cost cap) makes it to the 2015 roster and is the only electrically motivated member of the group. Despite the loss of the 3 Series, BMW isn't entirely shut out this year, because the M235i gets its name on the list. Car and Driver argues that the little coupe feels like a welcome throwback to the E46 chassis M3 of the early 2000s. In addition to the Model S, the final newbie to the annual group is the 2015 Ford Mustang GT. The inclusion of these new members knocks the Audi A6/A7 family and Ford Fiesta ST out from the 2014 rundown. The other seven models carry over from last year, including the Cadillac CTS, Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, Honda Accord, Mazda3, Mazda6, Porsche Boxster/Cayman and Volkswagen Golf/GTI. The 2015 10Best cars list certainly seems to have something for everyone from the hot hatch fan to the family man and even the green car driver, thanks to the addition of the Tesla.
