This is an extremely rare 1991 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance. This Cadillac has numerous options on it that are very rare. I will try to describe it all to the best of my abilities. First it is a Brougham d"Elegance is the optional larger 5.7 Liter V8. The engine runs great and always runs nice and cool with no smoke or leaks. With the 5.7 from the factory came numerous upgrades to systems like the cooling and electrical system over base 5.0 cars. The transmission is silky smooth and shifts great. The Cadillac is a gold package car so it has factory gold emblems and pin stripes. The car is on the factory offered chrome vogue wire wheels. It also has a fully functional factory sunroof!!! (extremely rare, there is not another listed anywhere for sale with factory one that I can find) All the lights on the out side work as the should as do the wipers. The brakes just had a major going through and redo. The whole front system was replaced with all new, hubs, pad, rotors, and all other parts and a brake fluid flush. All parts and fluids were OEM or better quality total cost was nearly 600 dollars and was done by a major repair shop. The tires are older original style Uniroyal gold and white walls they had good thread left but are older and do need to be pumped up every so often when its cold out. The chrome and all bright work is great and shiny no rust on any of it including bumpers. The vinyl soft top is in great shape to no rips or fading. The paint is original and still looks nice but I can tell it has been touched up here and there. Also, one part on the driver-side by the trunk on the tail fin has some cloudiness to it no rust though. There are only two tiny spots of rust bolt are where the handles meet the doors and still under the paint and the size of a dime each. The rest of car has no rust and it is solid and great underneath. Now for the interior which has the optional tuffed leather seats. Original carpet and floor mats in great shape and clean. All power options work as the should, both power seats, cruise control, stereo, lights, heat and outdoor thermostat. I just had the headliner professionally replaced and the sunroof cleaned and greased at same time. This was done at a high end interior shop and was over 800 for the work and materials. The dash had no cracks or fading at all. The wood trim is perfect everywhere. The leather is nice and soft everywhere except for the passenger rear seat bottom that is dried one small patch of leather cracked off liner is still there so foam is not exposed. (pictured) The trunk is clean with original carpet and even original trunk mat. It also has the soft touch auto closing feature that works great. The Cadillac runs and drives great I have just had it sitting in rush hour traffic in Chicago with no issues at all and have taken it on a two plus hour drive with no issues as well. I drive it often when weather is nice and love driving it. I really hate to get rid of it but I have spent a fortune restoring a classic Mercedes and still have more to go on it so I have to unload a few toys. I will be glad to answer any questions about this Brougham you may have. I am a big fan of the 1990-1992 Cadillac Broughams, last of the real Cadillac to me and I know how rare this specific Brougham is with the options it has. It is as loaded as they came from Cadillac. I have the Cadillac for sale in other media as well and reserve the right to end the auction at anytime.

GM adds 1,200 jobs at Detroit-Hamtramck plant

Thu, Oct 22 2015

General Motors is making a big move at its Hamtramck, MI, factory, announcing it will add a second shift and hire over 1,200 workers within the next several months. It's expected that by early 2016, the factory will employ over 2,800 workers to build the Chevrolet Volt, Impala, Malibu, Cadillac ELR, and by early next year, the new CT6. According to GM Hamtramck spokesperson Courtney Zemke, 40 of the 1,200 positions are for salaried employees, while the remainder will be hourly positions. As for where these employees will go, positions are being made available across the factory, so GM isn't focusing on any particular area for its new hires. It's a similar story behind the hiring surge itself. GM said in its press release that the "second shift is necessary to meet forecasted market demand," a position Zemke reiterated. It's a matter of demand across the plant's portfolio, rather than any one particular product seriously outstripping supply. Naturally, the United Auto Workers is happy with the move. "The workforce at Detroit-Hamtramck is second to none," UAW Local 22 Shop Chairman Don LaForest said in the attached release. "We appreciate the opportunity to expand our UAW-GM family." Hiring is going on now, with the second shift slated to get underway in early 2016. GM's Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly to Add Second Shift and More Than 1,200 Jobs Plant will nearly double its workforce by early 2016 2015-10-22 DETROIT – General Motors is nearly doubling its workforce at Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly by adding a second shift and more than 1,200 hourly and salaried jobs. The addition of a second shift will increase the plant's workforce to approximately 2,800 people when hiring is completed. The second shift is necessary to meet forecasted market demand for the five cars produced at Detroit-Hamtramck. "This is the result of the award-winning vehicles Detroit-Hamtramck produces and the confidence GM has in our team to build world-class quality for our customers," said Plant Manager Gary West. Second shift hiring is underway, and the shift is scheduled to begin operations in early 2016. "The workforce at Detroit-Hamtramck is second to none," said UAW Local 22 Shop Chairman Don LaForest. "We appreciate the opportunity to expand our UAW-GM family." The 4.1 million-square-foot Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly opened in 1985. GM has invested $1 billion in the plant over the last six years, making it one of the company's most-agile manufacturing facilities in North America.

Cadillac president de Nysschen says electrification coming 'across the spectrum'

Thu, Jan 22 2015

We like to pick on new Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen for his insistence, many years ago, when he was president of Audi of America, that plug-in vehicles are for idiots. Listening to him give the keynote address at the Washington Auto Show today, you wouldn't know he ever said anything negative about an electric vehicle. Instead, he sounds something like a EV-angelist. De Nysschen said that Cadillac will be able to benefit from GM's considerable expertise in plug-in technology, which he said would be "applied across the spectrum of our portfolio." GM's electric committment will help in "making electrification commonplace." With the plug-in ELR already on the road, de Nysschen said that the company's next step in advancing powertrains will be the introduction of stop/start technology – which de Nysschen called an "important system to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions" – into a Cadillac for the first time later this year. Without giving any specific details, de Nysschen said that Cadillac will introduce eight new models (not necessarily plug-ins) by the end of this decade, including five that "will take Cadillac into market segments where the brand is not even present today." These new vehicles will likely be much lighter than today's vehicles, de Nysschen said, because "weight reduction today is critical to automotive design, it helps to improve fuel efficiency and contributes to desireable vehicle dynamics." The key is to reduce weight without compromising safety or comfort and to use the right material – steel, aluminum, carbon fiber – in the right place at the right time. It was a not-so-subtle jab at Ford and its new aluminum F-150. "In the pursuit of weight reduction, some manufacturers have also opted for abandoning steel and have gone for an all-aluminum approach," he said. "At Cadillac, we believe that different materials each present particular advantages in specific applications. There is no single material that represents the optimum balance of the conflicting objectives of every single application." Related video:

General Motors posts record earnings, but global sales fall

Thu, Apr 21 2016

General Motors started the year with record success. The automaker's $2.7 billion in adjusted earnings before interest and taxes was its highest ever in in the first quarter of 2016, up from $2.1 billion in from the same time period a year earlier. Net income grew to $1.95 billion, which was more than double the $953 million in the same period last year. The company's figures also beat analysts' predictions, according to the Detroit Free Press. Despite the financial growth, global sales actually decreased by 2.5 percent to 2.36 million vehicles. "We're growing where it counts, gaining retail share in the US, outpacing the industry in Europe and capitalizing on robust growth in SUV and luxury segments in China," CEO Mary Barra said in the company's financial announcement. GM did well in North America with an adjusted EBIT of $2.3 billion, up from $2.2 billion last year. Sales in the region also grew 1.2 percent to 800,000 vehicles. According to The Detroit Free Press, the company has been especially successful at selling more expensive models in the US. The company's average vehicle was $34,600 in Q1, about $3,000 more than the industry average. Elsewhere in the world, GM also showed improvement. Europe practically broke even after losing about $200 million last year, and Opel and Vauxhall sales grew 8.4 percent to more than 300,000 vehicles for the quarter. South America only lost $100 million, which was half as much as Q1 2015's $200 million loss. China remained flat at $500 million of income. Cadillac volume jumped 6.1 percent there, and Buick's deliveries increased 22 percent, thanks to the Envision crossover's success. GM Reports First-Quarter Net Income of $2.0 Billion 2016-04-21 EPS diluted of $1.24; First-quarter record EPS diluted-adjusted of $1.26 First-quarter record EBIT-adjusted of $2.7 billion GM Europe posts break-even performance DETROIT – General Motors Co. (NYSE: GM) today announced first-quarter net income to common stockholders of $2.0 billion or $1.24 per diluted share, compared to $0.9 billion or $0.56 per diluted share a year ago. Earnings per share diluted-adjusted for special items was a first-quarter record at $1.26, up 47 percent compared to the first quarter of 2015. The company set first-quarter records for earnings and margin, with earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) adjusted of $2.7 billion and EBIT-adjusted margin of 7.1 percent.
