1990 Cadillac Brougham D'elegance - 77k Miles - 5.7l V8 - Firemist - No Reserve on 2040-cars
Portland, Oregon, United States
77,500 original miles Top of the line Cadillac No Reserve Auction Up for bids is this 1990 Cadillac Brougham in excellent condition. This car was bought new in Southern Oregon and has had just 2 owners. Mechanic owned since 1995, the car has been exceptionally well cared for and always garaged. Finished in Autumn Maple Firemist, code 89, this car wears the color well. The paint finish is glass smooth with excellent gloss and depth. If you put your nose right up to it you'll see some small touched in chips here and there but overall the car stands tall. The car has zero rust issues anywhere; this is an Oregon car, the land that rust forgot. Tires are quality Michelin XW4's with good tread. All of the glass is original and in good shape, the windshield has some small nicks but no chips or stars. The padded top is in great shape with no fading or problem areas. Clean and original trunk compartment with factory spare and jack. The power pull-down option works correctly. The tail-light filler panels are in great shape with no cracks or splits. All of the trim on the car is in terrific condition. Both bumpers are straight and true with no damage. Grill and surround are excellent. All of the anodized and chrome trim are in great shape and can hold up to close scrutiny. The interior still smells like leather, it's in line with the rest of the car, just vey well preserved. Ashtrays and lighters are unused. The tilt/tele steering wheel is in excellent shape with no cracks or splits. All controls and features work correctly, including the cruise control and Twilight Sentinel lights. The AM-FM cassette radio has good sound, the radio antenna doesn't auto-retract though. I also can't seem to set the time on the clock in the way the manual specifies. These 2 issues are the only glitches you'll find, everything else works just as intended. Comfortable and roomy back seat with everything looking like new. The small brake light indicators at the rear of the headliner work, as well as the fender top indicators. Excellent headliner with no sags. Optional auto-dim rear view mirror. Good dash top with no cracks, splits or sun damage. The glovebox contains the original owner's manual, informational cassette tape, wire wheel cover removal tool and an extra set of keys with factory alarm remote. All 4 door panels look like new, all of the car's weatherstripping is like new as well. Very clean doorjambs. All power windows work quickly and smoothly, power door locks operate correctly. This car has the optional 6-way seat for the passenger. This Brougham runs and drives every bit as good as it looks. The optional 5.7 V8 delivers the excellent performance and power that it's known for. This car runs down the road with an ultra smooth and comfortable ride, it brakes, steers and shifts like new. I recently drove the car on a 4 hour freeway trip and it was perfect from start to finish. Just kick back, relax, and finger-tip steer this land yacht to the horizon. The AC has been updated to the R-134A standard. All fluids and maintenance are up to date. From every angle you can tell that this is a car that has been well cared for. Rock solid and original undercarriage with no trace of rust and no signs of damage. Click here for a slideshow of all of the enlarged images. Cadillac considering more engines, Vsport model for Escalade
Tue, 15 Jul 2014Want to roll in the latest Cadillac Escalade? You can get it with a 6.2-liter V8... or a 6.2-liter V8. Cadillac only offers the one engine option. But that may soon change.
According to the latest from Automotive News, Cadillac is contemplating a couple of new powertrain options for its blingin' big ute. The report suggests a twin-turbo V6 and a V6 turbodiesel could be offered, and that Cadillac could create a Vsport version of the Escalade like it offers on the new CTS sedan.
The more diverse engine offerings would help attract buyers from the new Lincoln Navigator, its prime competitor, which switched from a 5.4-liter V8 this year to a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. The turbo V6 engines (both gasoline and diesel) would also help Cadillac market the Escalade overseas - particularly in Europe, where higher fuel prices preclude the prospect of driving a big V8 SUV for many buyers. Escalade sales have dropped from 35-40k units in the mid-2000s to around 12,000 the past couple of years.
Consumer Reports explains its disdain for infotainment
Thu, 20 Mar 2014One of the perks of reviewing all manner of cars and trucks is that we're exposed to all the different infotainment systems. Whether Cadillac's CUE, Chrysler's UConnect, BMW's iDrive or MyFord Touch, we sample each and every infotainment system on the market.
Not surprisingly, some are better than others. It seems consumers have come to a similar consensus, with Consumer Reports claiming that Ford and Lincoln, Cadillac and Honda offer the worst user infotainment experiences. Not surprisingly, you won't find much argument among the Autoblog staff.
Take a look below to see just what it is about the latest batch of infotainment systems that grinds CR's gears. After that, scroll down into Comments and let us know if you agree with the mag's views.
GM to idle car production at five factories as Americans continue CUV love affair
Mon, Dec 19 2016In case you needed another reminder that Americans have fallen out of love with sedans, General Motors today announced plans to idle five factories in January in a bid to cut its inventory to 70 days. Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly ( Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac CT6, Chevrolet Volt and Impala) and Fairfax Assembly in Kansas ( Chevy Malibu) will stop production for three weeks. Lansing Grand River ( Cadillac ATS and CTS, and Chevy Camaro) is going down for two weeks, while Lordstown, OH ( Chevy Cruze) and Bowling Green, KY ( Chevy Corvette) will go idle for a week each, Automotive News reports. GM's shutdown reflects a broader problem with the company's supply – at 847,000 vehicles, the company's supply increased unsteadily from a low of 629,000 units in January of 2016. That's more than a 25 percent increase in the past year. Citing information from Autodata, The Detroit News reports that at the end of November, GM had a 168-day supply of LaCrosses, 177 days' worth of Camaro, 170 days of Corvette, 121 days for Cruze, 119 days for ATS, 132 days for CTS, and 110 days of CT6. Meanwhile, inventory of the company's more popular vehicles is actually below the professionally accepted 60- to 70-day supply, The News reports. The Trax, Colorado pickup, and GM's full-size SUVs are sitting below 50 days and experiencing year-over-year sales increases. GM needs a rethink of its inventory levels, which is something that's apparently coming. "We're going to be responsible in managing our inventory levels," GM spokesman Jim Cain told The News. Another unnamed spokesman told Automotive News the company's day-to-day supplies would "fluctuate before moderating at year-end." But at least one analyst thinks this won't be the last time Detroit needs to stop production to level things out. "Incentives are elevated, residuals are declining, and rates are rising," Brian Johnson, an analyst with Barclays, told The News. "And while GM in particular may benefit in the months ahead from new product launches, it's important to recognize that GM's inventory is elevated at the moment, and it wouldn't surprise us if they need to announce another production cut – which could pressure the stock."
