1990 Cadillac Brougham - 5.7 Liter - SHOW CAR!
1990 Cadillac Brougham. 5.7 Liter, FE2 Handling Suspension, Trailer Package, triple white, blue accents with red/and blue pin stripe,. 24K mile perfect example. "As Good As It Gets" is the name I have bestowed on this particular Brougham, and the reason why is because nothing you see or have seen is quite like this one. I sold this car a some years ago to a collector here in town. Upon Mark's purchase, he took what was a near factory perfect saved car and made it a true #1 level show car. His idea was to make this car the way Cadillac should have done it if they had a Rolls Royce Budget. Although some of the details in this car will be lost to photographs, many can be seen, and as an overall package, it should literally blow you away. The end product here may be the most perfect Brougham in terms of details, quality and fit and finish the world has seen.
It took a driven person with a mission and a budget that could have bought a new Rolls to do this. You are not looking at normal, and as I said, this car may appear to be little different than some of the other nice ones you see, but side by side it is a few steps beyond. I have 300 mile New Broughams in my collection, although they are brand new perfect as the factory made them, they are not like this car in level of detail or fit and finish. The work put into this Brougham was done by Dusold Enterprises one of the finest Automotive Restoration organizations in the country. Now when I say restoration, that is not what this car needed. It was "vastly improved" upon from a perfect factory original. David Dusold set out to keep as much of this car's originality in place, and it the end product has as much, if not more, integrity than the original day one car. Where GM lacked, Dusold made up for by leaps and bounds. If you notice the fillers on this car, they are more perfect than any Cadillac of this era to date. The real weak point of the Brougham with the rear filler and trunk area finish out is the best ever taking all Broughams in consideration. The door jambs and underside hood are what we would label as "Rolls Royce" standard. Notice the strikers, sill plates and more. The headliner is one piece leather hide with a vintage pattern that fits the car. Sun visors and sail panels are doeskin leather to match seats with French stitching. The map lights are color keyed, under hood is high detail with all engine accessories and brackets finished to the highest level detail of any show car. All aluminum under hood has hours of polishing work and all the suspension parts have been powered coated. This is just some of the work, the rest of it would take a few paragraphs then some.
All in all, I have had over 200+ Broughams in my day, have seen the best of the best, have owned some of the best, but this particular car took it a good step further. Nothing is quite extravagant in the letter of perfection as this car has achieved. I have had lower mile, I have had more rare, I have had ones with 500HP engines built out of 2000 mile new cars.... However, the angle this car achieves is to please the absolute infinite perfectionist with the most detailed eye and over expecting demands. When a guy like me sells a car out of my collection, I always wonder and hope that what I have sold will meet the new owners expectations. It takes a while to get to know a car, so photos are not always the answer, but good ones sure help. If this car were ever sold and the person buying this car was not happy with it.... Well there has never been a car to date anywhere they would be happy with. And that is why this car is called "As Good as it Gets!
This car is not for everyone... As I stated and as many may know... I have 4 broughams in the collection right now with under 1000 miles, one that literally has never moved. All are their top respective examples, probably the best the planet has to show.... However.... None are to this level, as they simply were never made this way new.

The most detailed Brougham ever!
White is so hard to show how nice it is in photos.... This car made it easy!
The body lines of this car are that of the finest Concours Show car out there.
Zoom in and try and catch the detail
Look at the strikers and sill plates
Now go look at one of my brand new Broughams here... They will pale in comparison.
Custom built factory stereo with many mods inside. This REALLY sounds good.
Zoom in on the underside of the hood. Just nothing like that on these cars.
Screaming perfection from every angle.
A taste of what the engine compartment is like up close.

Cadillac issues stop-sale on recalled CTS, SRX
Mon, 21 Jul 2014General Motors has issued a stop-sale order on the Cadillac CTS and SRX, both of which were recalled late last month. Why the stop-sale after all this time? Well, um, GM apparently doesn't know how to fix them.
The stop-sale covers all used Cadillac CTS sedans, coupes and wagons from model years 2003 to 2013, as well as new 2014 coupes and wagons. The SRX crossover stop-sale, meanwhile, only covers used vehicles from model years 2004 to 2006.
Automotive News reached out to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, who told the news pub that the company's engineers were "looking at one common solution" for the affected vehicles, although "they don't have it yet."
Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017
Tue, Feb 17 2015Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
Cadillac CT6 PHEV battery shape a big departure for GM's plug-in hybrid tech
Thu, Apr 23 2015Anyone with any familiarity with the electric powertrain details for the two General Motors plug-in hybrids will have noticed that the information we have about the newly announced Cadillac CT6 plug-in hybrid has a lot of numbers in common with the Chevy Volt and the Cadillac ELR, like the 18.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an expected all-electric range of 37 miles. We also noticed that the announcement calls the plug-in CT6 hybrid an actual plug-in hybrid and not an "extended range electric vehicle (EREV)," which is what GM calls the Volt and the ELR. This, of course, means we needed to ask GM some questions. Donny Nordlicht from Cadillac communications told AutoblogGreen that while the Volt and CT6 batteries are both 18.4-kWh, the shape is completely different. In the Volt/ELR, the battery is T-shaped (see it here). The CT6 has four seats, with a tunnel running between the two in the rear, as you can see here, but the battery in the CT6 PHEV is "a cube-shaped pack, which is between rear seats and the trunk," Nordlicht said. "There is no pass through." GM has not yet released any technical schematics about this pack, but Nordlicht said that, "The CT6's advanced mixed-material platform was designed to accommodate the PHEV system by design so that it minimally intrudes on the cabin space." It also means that the CT6 can be ordered as an optional PHEV, while the Volt and ELR were purpose-built plug-ins. GM is also distinguishing between the EREV and PHEV powertrains in its vehicles from this point forward. "We are not discarding the EREV language," Nordlicht said. "The CT6 utilizes a two-motor system mated to a 2.0T 4-cylinder engine, which is an all-new system to Cadillac." We assume that the PHEV packs will use li-ion cells from LG Chem, just like the EREVs do, but Nordlicht did not answer our question on that point. As for other details about the CT6 PHEV – like production, full dimension, and pricing – we will just have to wait until closer to when the vehicle launches for those. Related Video:
