I have owned the car for five years. The power antenna and the clock and cruise have stopped working, all other options function properly. Has the ULTRA RARE power Astro-roof option, as well as the following other options: AM/FM Tape player radio, RARE Theft deterrent system, Fuel minder system, illuminiated entry system, delay wipers, wire wheel covers, remote control right hand mirror. Lighted vanity mirror."

1976 Cadillac Fleetwood 60 Special sedan.  Breathtaking gorgeous original color combination of white exterior with a white and black interior.  Nearly fully loaded and also has the scarce for 1976 electrically sliding glass Astro-roof option.  I have owned the car about five years and it is originally from Wisconsin, which is where it has spent its whole life in a garaged enviroment.  The car is all original, has never been repainted or reupholstered.  A tiny bit of rust is begining in a spot around the roofline and there is a scratch that has been touched up on the drivers side front fender.  There are two very minor cracks in the rear armrests.  The cruise control, clock, and power antenna stopped working as well.   The car shows and drives very well as a daily driver with clean carpets, very nice leather seats with cold AC and all other options working as intended.  The 500 CID Engine runs strong with no oil usage and cruises effortlessly at highway speeds all day. I get compliments and positive reactions every time I go out in this car.  Drive as is and drive all day doing it!

Colors are very important in vintage cars, and you don't get much better than this for a beautiful stunning color combination.  The Cotillion white exterior with white original elk grain padded roof look great while the white seats set off the black dash and carpets very nicely inside.  Also note the steering wheel, mine is still in perfect condition with no chunking, both upper and lower dashes are in perfect shape as well.  No cracks or scratches in the glass as well.  Has the rear defog built into the rear glass that works fine too.

The car comes complete with original owners manual, shop manual, 1976 Cadillac 8-Track tape, and the ad from a newspaper where the car was originally sold back in '76.  If you have the chance, please inspect the car for yourself or have it inspected during the run of this auction.  Inspections are welcome anytime during this period.  Car is sold as is and where is with no warranties expressed or implied.  Remember this is the last year for the traditional full sized Cadillac before the downsizing trend began in 1977, so this is truly the last of a breed of gentlemanly civilizied truly American luxury cars. If you are looking for a original gorgeous 1976 Cadillac Fleetwood with desirable rare options then this car is for you. Write with any questions or additional photos, or call 301-767-5503

2015 Cadillac ATS-V gunning for the BMW M3

Mon, 03 Jun 2013

Spy photographers have spotted something interesting. Cadillac engineers have taken to public streets with the upcoming ATS-V and a playmate: the current BMW M3 Sedan. The prototype seen here wears a more aggressive front fascia, flared fenders and beefy brakes. Quad exhaust tips and what looks to be a small lip spoiler on the trunk deck sum up the most obvious visual changes over the standard ATS outside. Word has it the ATS-V will bow with the same twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 available in the nose of the XTS. In that application, the engine is good for a stout 410 horsepower, which should be more than enough to hustle the sedan around a track.
Other details are still murky, however. First and foremost: will GM offer the ATS-V with an honest manual transmission, like it does with its big brother, the CTS-V? Something tells us we won't have long to wait to find out - the machine will likely bow next year as a 2015 model. Until then, dig in on our newest bevy of spy photos.

General Motors shaking up its marketing... again

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

One of the things that dogs the full comeback of General Motors is the instability of its marketing. That part of the automaker got yet another big shakeup today when GM confirmed what I have been tweeting for a few days - strong rumors that the Chevrolet and Cadillac ad accounts are walking to new ad agencies.
Cadillac, GM's luxury brand, is going into review from Fallon Worldwide, Minneapolis and the indications are that Campbell-Ewald, Chevy's old ad shop, will end up with most or all of it. C-E just announced that it was moving from its long-time home in Warren, MI to a new downtown Detroit office next to Ford Field, just blocks from GM.
The other shoe to drop shortly will be the shift of GM's most important brand, Chevy, from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners of San Francisco to McCann-Erickson of Troy, MI. McCann used to be the agency for Buick and GMC, as well as GM's corporate advertising, and has retained some pieces of business over the last few years. Sources have even told us that it was McCann that did a lot of the creative work on Chevy's new ad platform, Find New Roads. (Not to be confused with a former McCann tagline for Saab, "Find Your Own Road.")

GM executive chief EV engineer says reducing cost of plug-in vehicles is 'huge priority'

Mon, Mar 17 2014

As we know, another major automaker investing heavily in electrified vehicles is General Motors, and it's doing things much differently than rivals BMW, Ford or Nissan. The Chevrolet Volt extended-range EV is a modest seller at its $35,000 sticker price but a huge hit with owners. The Chevy Spark BEV, still in limited availability, puts smiley faces on its owners and drivers. The just-introduced Cadillac ELR, a sharp-looking, fun-driving $76,000 luxocoupe take on the Volt's EREV mechanicals, has admittedly low sales expectations. With this interesting trio in showrooms and much more in the works, the third vehicle electrification leader I collared for an interview at Detroit's North American International Auto Show (see #1 and #2) was Pam Fletcher, GM's executive chief engineer, Electrified Vehicles. ABG: Why do your EREVs need four-cylinder power to extend their range when BMW's i3 makes do with an optional 650 cc two-banger? "We designed [the Volt and the ELR] to go anywhere, any time" - Pam Fletcher PF: I get that question all the time: why not something smaller? You don't really need that much. You use the electric to its ability, then you just need to limp. But we designed those cars to go anywhere, any time, and we don't want their performance to be compromised. If you're driving through the mountains, we don't want you to be crawling up grades, or to be limited on any terrain. So it's optimized to be able to travel literally the biggest grades and mountain roads around the globe at posted speeds. Because what if you can't? Another good reason: when the engine is on, you have to run it wide open throttle, max speed, most of the time. And while we can do a lot with acoustics, and the ELR has active noise cancelation, a small-displacement, low cylinder-count engine at high speed, high load all the time isn't something you want to live with. That's how we came up with the balance we did among the key factors of performance, NVH [noise, vibration and harshness] and range. ABG: Where you go from here? Is the range-extender engine due for an update? PF: We know and love the current Volt, and there is still a lot of acclaim about it, so we think it's a good recipe. But we are heavily in the midst of engineering the next-generation car, which I think everyone will love and be excited about.
