the mileage put on the car by the first owner, mrs. bruton, was 51,324 and the second owner only put 462 miles on the old girl in 5 years! the car has always lived in the wonderful and wealthy city of charlottesville virginia. and this old car really does run GREAT!  and she starts up instantly hot or stone cold and idles very smoothly. the vin is P8181765. she was bought new on january the twelve 1968 by mrs. roy v.bruton at peyton cadillac in charlottesville virginia for $9,111.80. i have a copy of the ORIGINAL title and i have CLEAR TITLE FROM THE 2nd OWNER IN HAND. i also have the original keys are with the car in the original selling dealers leather key fob, stamped PEYTON CADILLAC. how cool is that.

to see OVER 300 MORE PICTURES OF 'CHARLOTTE' go to the FLICKR photo sharing site and type   1968 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM CHARLOTTE    into the search engine and the 300+ PICTURES will come up.

the old car can be driven around the yard and onto a trailer but she has been off the road just long enough that you would want to check everything over before taking her out on the highway and getting up to speed. the FACTORY DISC BRAKES work but i think a good bleed of the entire brake system would be a good idea. the tires are about 80% and the exhaust is quiet and looks to be an original cadillac system. she does not run at all hot even if left idling for long periods and the A/C clutch kicks in fine but the system needs a charge. the power seat works, the door locks works, the radio comes on and hums but does`nt want to pick up a station. i think there is a problem with the antenna connection. the antenna works fine from the radio push / pull button but the mast is broken right at the bottom. the power trunk release and pull down work great. none of the power windows work at all so i`m thinking it must be a fuse which i will check out. i will report what i find here on ebay. there is a pretty bad power steering leak, it comes out as fast as you put it in kind of leak. it is dripping from the middle of the front cross member so it must be a hose. the turn signal switch only stays on in one position, the other way you have to hold it. the tilt and tele steering column works great and the horns are amazing, talk about loud, LOL. all the glass is perfect and the area where the vinyl top meets the upper quarter panel`s is really solid, heavy surface rust but thats it. obviously the old girl needs a new top and paint but the whole body is oh so straight with only one really small ding in the drivers door down low, it was probably opened onto something and it will be a very easy ding to repair.

the under side of the hood is excellent but the little trims that come down from the hood lip and meet the chrome lip molding are missing, weird. the lip of the trunk lid where it meets the body is excellent also and the only real area with any corrosion is the little channel that holds the rubber trunk gasket on the drivers side. the gasket is still surprisingly supple and soft. ALL THE 4 FLOOR PANS & TRUNK PAN ARE EXCELLENT! the floors are as solid as the day they were made! the old car still has her original jack, lug wrench, wooden chock and spare tire cover but there is no spare wheel or tire. when we took the fender skirts off we found everything behind them to be as solid as the rest of the car. the skirts themselves are also excellent and all the lower body moldings are in truly great condition.

for microcar lovers this has to be what amounts to the holy grail of barn finds, it truly is in unbelievably good condition.

any inspection is welcome and encouraged, no disappointments at all with this fantastic little van. once again the VIN # is P8181765 and i have CLEAR TITLE IN HAND.

now the nitty gritty. i require full payment in 3 days by cash in person or bank to bank wire transfer

no other form of payment will be accepted, end of story. if you cannot abide by these very simple terms then do not bid. my feedback is over 380 and 100% positive, check it out. i will gladly ship anywhere in the world. oversea`s shipping is no problem at all. charleston port is 4 hours east of me and i have sent antique cars over sea`s before and know exactly what is involved. if you need a shipping quote to anywhere in the world just email me. if you would like to see OVER 300 MORE PICTURES go to the FLICKR photo sharing site and type   1968 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM CHARLOTTE    into the search engine and the 300+ PICTURES will come up.

you may also call my cell on 864 616 6860 before 10 pm eastern standard time to discuss the car. the shipping service to england and mainland europe drive on / drive off is approximately $850 and if you put her in a 20 foot container its $2250 give or take a little. a 40 foot container is $2850 if you have other things you want shipped in with the car. i can arrange whatever suits your needs and shipping time is 11 to 13 days depending on where its going. obviously prices can vary a little depending on the exchange rate on the day but as of this writing, 10/31/2013 the prices stated are a safe bet. for a quote to Australia or anywhere in Asia please drop me a line. likewise if you want a shipping quote within the United States just give me a call. thank you all and good luck.

Seinfeld and Don Rickles stretch out in classic Caddy for latest CiCGC

Thu, 04 Jul 2013

It's no surprise that for the newest episode of Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, airing for the first time on the 4th of July, that a couple of American classics are involved. You'll Never Play the Copa unites Seinfeld with legendary curmudgeon Don Rickles, driving around in a stunner of a 1958 Cadillac Eldorado Seville in Gleneagles Green (upholstery wrapped in Grandma-spec plastic, of course).
Mr. Rickles really steals the show in this one - maybe our favorite CiCGC to date - though the Eldorado plays a strong-jawed costarring role, for sure. Stories about Ronald Regan, Frank Sinatra, Billy Graham and, of course, Herkie Styles are more than worth the price of admission. Check it out below.

Cadillac recalls 120k examples of ATS for fire risk

Fri, Sep 25 2015

Cadillac is recalling a total of 119,339 units (96,145 in the US alone) of the 2013-2016 ATS sedan, because the coil antenna module that powers the rear defogger can overheat. The problem has been linked to four fires, but there have been no injuries, fatalities, or crashes, according to the automaker. During manufacturing, the antenna might have been produced with "critically weak terminal connectivity." If being cycled on and off often or used continuously, these faulty examples can overheat, leading to a fire in the driver's side rear pillar. According to the company, "less than 1 percent of the recalled vehicles are expected to have the condition." According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (in a PDF), the fix is a reflash for the ATS' Electronic Climate Control module that automatically turns on the rear defogger when the engine starts. In addition, 2013 models keep the system on continuously at low temperatures at highway speeds and this is also being disabled in the update. The changes are meant to cycle the coil less often, but owners can still turn it on manually. Related Video: GM Statement: General Motors is recalling approximately 96,145 2013-16 model year ATS sedans in the U.S. Some of these vehicles may have been manufactured with critically weak terminal connectivity in the coil antenna module, which powers the rear defogger system. If the module has the condition and is subjected to excessive cycling or continuous operation, it may overheat and a fire may develop inside the rear pillar on the driver's side of the vehicle. Less than 1 percent of the recalled vehicles are expected to have the condition. GM is aware of four fires but no injuries, fatalities or crashes. Including Canada, Mexico and exports, the total population of the recall is approximately 119,339. RECALL Subject : Rear Defogger Coil Antenna Module may Overheat Report Receipt Date: SEP 03, 2015 NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V558000 Component(s): VISIBILITY Potential Number of Units Affected: 96,145 All Products Associated with this Recall Vehicle Make Model Model Year(s) CADILLAC ATS 2013-2016 Details Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Cadillac ATS sedan vehicles manufactured April 23, 2012, to September 2, 2015. In the affected vehicles, the coil antenna module that powers the rear defogger system may generate excessive heat due to excessive cycling or continuous operation.

De Nysschen says Cadillac will be ready for a $250,000 model in 15 years

Fri, Nov 21 2014

Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen has some very, very lofty goals for the American luxury car manufacturer. That's according to a new report from Reuters, where the former Audi and Infiniti exec says that Cadillac is only 15 years away from selling a $250,000 car. "It is too early today for a $250,000 Cadillac," de Nysschen told Reuters at the LA Auto Show. "Fifteen years from now, it won't be." Now, provided de Nysschen doesn't envision a future of hyper-inflation, where an ATS rings up at $200K and a CTS at $225,000, the idea that Cadillac could sell a car worth a quarter-of-a-million dollars in just 15 short years is the very definition of ambitious. That's doubly true when you realize that, at present, Cadillac's most expensive vehicle is the Escalade ESV Platinum, which costs no more than $97,940, while de Nysschen said the upcoming CT6 sedan will be priced "in the 70s." What do you think? Could a Cadillac that costs well over twice as much as the brand's most expensive current vehicle be a reality in the distant future? Or is de Nysschen aiming too high too soon? Let us know what you think in Comments. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Jae C. Hong / AP Cadillac Luxury cadillac ct6
