the mileage put on the car by the first owner, mrs. bruton, was 51,324 and the second owner only put 462 miles on the old girl in 5 years! the car has always lived in the wonderful and wealthy city of charlottesville virginia. and this old car really does run GREAT!  and she starts up instantly hot or stone cold and idles very smoothly. the vin is P8181765. she was bought new on january the twelve 1968 by mrs. roy v.bruton at peyton cadillac in charlottesville virginia for $9,111.80. i have a copy of the ORIGINAL title and i have CLEAR TITLE FROM THE 2nd OWNER IN HAND. i also have the original keys are with the car in the original selling dealers leather key fob, stamped PEYTON CADILLAC. how cool is that.

to see OVER 300 MORE PICTURES OF 'CHARLOTTE' go to the FLICKR photo sharing site and type   1968 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM CHARLOTTE    into the search engine and the 300+ PICTURES will come up.

the old car can be driven around the yard and onto a trailer but she has been off the road just long enough that you would want to check everything over before taking her out on the highway and getting up to speed. the FACTORY DISC BRAKES work but i think a good bleed of the entire brake system would be a good idea. the tires are about 80% and the exhaust is quiet and looks to be an original cadillac system. she does not run at all hot even if left idling for long periods and the A/C clutch kicks in fine but the system needs a charge. the power seat works, the door locks works, the radio comes on and hums but does`nt want to pick up a station. i think there is a problem with the antenna connection. the antenna works fine from the radio push / pull button but the mast is broken right at the bottom. the power trunk release and pull down work great. none of the power windows work at all so i`m thinking it must be a fuse which i will check out. i will report what i find here on ebay. there is a pretty bad power steering leak, it comes out as fast as you put it in kind of leak. it is dripping from the middle of the front cross member so it must be a hose. the turn signal switch only stays on in one position, the other way you have to hold it. the tilt and tele steering column works great and the horns are amazing, talk about loud, LOL. all the glass is perfect and the area where the vinyl top meets the upper quarter panel`s is really solid, heavy surface rust but thats it. obviously the old girl needs a new top and paint but the whole body is oh so straight with only one really small ding in the drivers door down low, it was probably opened onto something and it will be a very easy ding to repair.

the under side of the hood is excellent but the little trims that come down from the hood lip and meet the chrome lip molding are missing, weird. the lip of the trunk lid where it meets the body is excellent also and the only real area with any corrosion is the little channel that holds the rubber trunk gasket on the drivers side. the gasket is still surprisingly supple and soft. ALL THE 4 FLOOR PANS & TRUNK PAN ARE EXCELLENT! the floors are as solid as the day they were made! the old car still has her original jack, lug wrench, wooden chock and spare tire cover but there is no spare wheel or tire. when we took the fender skirts off we found everything behind them to be as solid as the rest of the car. the skirts themselves are also excellent and all the lower body moldings are in truly great condition.

for microcar lovers this has to be what amounts to the holy grail of barn finds, it truly is in unbelievably good condition.

any inspection is welcome and encouraged, no disappointments at all with this fantastic little van. once again the VIN # is P8181765 and i have CLEAR TITLE IN HAND.

now the nitty gritty. i require full payment in 3 days by cash in person or bank to bank wire transfer

no other form of payment will be accepted, end of story. if you cannot abide by these very simple terms then do not bid. my feedback is over 380 and 100% positive, check it out. i will gladly ship anywhere in the world. oversea`s shipping is no problem at all. charleston port is 4 hours east of me and i have sent antique cars over sea`s before and know exactly what is involved. if you need a shipping quote to anywhere in the world just email me. if you would like to see OVER 300 MORE PICTURES go to the FLICKR photo sharing site and type   1968 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM CHARLOTTE    into the search engine and the 300+ PICTURES will come up.

you may also call my cell on 864 616 6860 before 10 pm eastern standard time to discuss the car. the shipping service to england and mainland europe drive on / drive off is approximately $850 and if you put her in a 20 foot container its $2250 give or take a little. a 40 foot container is $2850 if you have other things you want shipped in with the car. i can arrange whatever suits your needs and shipping time is 11 to 13 days depending on where its going. obviously prices can vary a little depending on the exchange rate on the day but as of this writing, 10/31/2013 the prices stated are a safe bet. for a quote to Australia or anywhere in Asia please drop me a line. likewise if you want a shipping quote within the United States just give me a call. thank you all and good luck.

Cadillac considering more engines, Vsport model for Escalade

Tue, 15 Jul 2014

Want to roll in the latest Cadillac Escalade? You can get it with a 6.2-liter V8... or a 6.2-liter V8. Cadillac only offers the one engine option. But that may soon change.
According to the latest from Automotive News, Cadillac is contemplating a couple of new powertrain options for its blingin' big ute. The report suggests a twin-turbo V6 and a V6 turbodiesel could be offered, and that Cadillac could create a Vsport version of the Escalade like it offers on the new CTS sedan.
The more diverse engine offerings would help attract buyers from the new Lincoln Navigator, its prime competitor, which switched from a 5.4-liter V8 this year to a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. The turbo V6 engines (both gasoline and diesel) would also help Cadillac market the Escalade overseas - particularly in Europe, where higher fuel prices preclude the prospect of driving a big V8 SUV for many buyers. Escalade sales have dropped from 35-40k units in the mid-2000s to around 12,000 the past couple of years.

Cadillac chief says ATS convertible, wagon on the table

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

What we do know is that the ATS will wear at least one more bodystyle. That comes from Cadillac head Bob Ferguson, who answered "Absolutely" when Automotive News asked him about the possibility of another variant. What we don't know is what that bodystyle or styles will be.
We now have a sedan and coupe ATS, there's supposedly a V sedan coming. After that, a convertible is a likely option given that the man who just became the global product honcho at General Motors, Mark Reuss, admitted to having one already designed in 2012. The decision on it can't get out of the underworld and a wagon is the other option, but the droptop would seem to make the most sense if one considers the competitive set: the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5 convertibles are hot property and Mercedes is bringing a C-Class convertible. Meanwhile wagons are the sentimental utility vehicles that, refusing to die, seem forever destined for life support... CTS Sport Wagon, anyone?
Based on Ferguson's statements, it appears that what Cadillac definitely won't do is play model variant catch-up with the European luxury brands it has spent years hunting down, telling Automotive News, "We want to keep our focus on a limited number of vehicles and do them very well."

2016 Cadillac CTS-V First Drive [w/video]

Fri, Jul 31 2015

A million insects lost their lives today. Boxelder bugs and mayflies making the ultimate sacrifice in Elkhart Lake, their carapaces no buffer against a rocketing rectangle of safety glass. Their bodies gorily streaking into spangles along the diamond-faceted face of the Cadillac CTS-V. Road America is a four-mile ribbon of pavement snaking its way through the emerald center of the country's northern heartland. Since the 1950s it's seen uncountable fields of diverse racing machinery rocket over its hills and around its 14 corners. I would imagine that on those occasions the tramping of onlookers and hubbub of vehicles, both competitive and commonplace, would dissuade a great number of our six-legged friends from making their way onto the track. But today it's just me turning laps. Inconceivably just one journalist, driving the baddest roadgoing Cadillac ever made, on one of the loveliest circuits America has ever carved out. So big-winged bugs made it out to me in a vast array and a tragic sum, and I drilled through them oblivious to anything but one of the greatest days of driving I've ever had. Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster. For 2016 Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster worthy of the carnage described above. The words "epic" and "awesome" are hilariously overused on the Internet, but in the case of the CTS-V's 6.2-liter supercharged V8, their literal meanings are fitting. The capacity to produce 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque is astounding. Feeling those outputs come to growling life under my foot arch, uncorks different reactions in my brain as the day wears on: first trepidation, next cautious optimism, finally red-eyed bloodlust. A glance at the power and torque curves will show you that the charged V8 behaves more like a naturally aspirated thing than a turbo'd on/off switch. Peak torque arrives at 3,600 rpm, horsepower at 6,400, giving the engine lovely, linear power delivery. Even with top torque happening near the middle of the tach, there's no small amount of the stuff when the engine first spins up, so launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. Launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. On the roads around Wisconsin, using all of the available power is hardly advisable, but I have no trouble driving this fast car slowly (sort of).
