1961 Cadillac Deville Rare 6 Window Fleetwood Not 1960 1962 1963 Eldorado on 2040-cars
Orlando, Florida, United States
Up for auction is a truly remarkable a piece of American classic in automotive history for any beginning classical car enthusiast. THE LAST OF THE DOUBLE FIN CARS! A 1961 Cadillac DeVille 4 door sedan body by Fisher. This vehicle was originally purchased in Pennsylvania and garage kept as the previous owner refused to drive it in the rain or snow. I had the vehicle shipped down to Florida where for the most part has been garaged at my mechanics shop. I drove it for a few months until I started work on it. The odometer reads 65,440 which in both my opinion and my mechanics opinion based on its current condition seems to be right. This isn’t your average 1961 Cadillac rust bucket as I’ve seen for sale in other places. This car is 96% RUST FREE VEHICLE! Just needs your tender love and care! This is not a barn find! It hasn’t been sitting outside in someone’s yard for years. Hands down the most solid 61 I’ve seen for the price! Exterior: For a 51 year old car the body is in excellent condition. The body has no rust or rust holes or structurally weak panels. This vehicle doesn’t have a single dent, dings or scratches. The silver paint and clear coat still shines bright. This vehicle may have been previously painted and I had someone professional look at it and they couldn’t tell (It was done right!!) As far as our underbody I had it up on a lift and all was good no rust, everything was there and in place. Wheel wells are solid with no rust and no holes. Windows are all intact with no cracks, or chips. This vehicle has a lot of chrome and from a distance it looks great, up close you can still see yourself but has very minor bubbling (the size of a match head or smaller). The vehicle has all body trim and pieces. Finding these parts is expensive and this vehicle isn’t missing a piece! The emblems are all there and solidly mounted on the body. The windshield will need a new silicone seal around the windshield as it has a very minor dripping leak. (Noticed it when I washed the car) All headlights, tail lights, and fog lights work. Interior: Again for a 51 year old car it’s not bad at all just needs a small makeover. The car is rodent free!! The seats were at some point reupholstered with black cloth. I had put seat covers on when I drove it. Seat springs are still good. The vinyl dash has very minor cracks nothing to be an eye sore and still intact. Chrome on dash is still good and shines. Interior lights and dash lights don’t work could just be bulbs or maybe wires. Headliner is solid with no holes no sagging. The car is going to need carpeting in both the inside and the trunk area. It has carpet now but the carpet is not in the best of condition. The only place this car has rust is in the trunk. (Its surface rust only) No holes or weak spots in the metal. Most of the weather stripping is good, yet some pieces need to be replaced, like the trunk area. The door panels need to be reupholstered as some of the stitching has come undone. This car has all knobs and buttons except for cruise control switch is missing. I noticed minor rust in the door area behind interior door panel nothing major. Back seat is good and features an arm rest. The back rear window area behind the seat has warped and can easily be replaced. (As shown in pictures) All interior trim and molding pieces are mounted in place (Nothing is missing). This car features the original factory stereo but has no speakers. All floor panels are solid with no holes or weak spots. Mechanical: The 1961 Cadillac was truly ahead of its time and featured power seats, power window, power door locks, electric trunk release, cruise control, automatic lights, and automatic windshield wipers. The engine is an original 390 V8. The engine is the main issue as (It has a blown piston) but still turns over to start. The 4 speed transmission shifts fine when I drove it (No leaks). The drive train is solid as well powering its RWD. All belts and pulleys are good and solid. Some window switches short out from time to time (Not all). New Parts Invested: New spark plugs & wires (valued at 150.00) New windshield wipers (valued at $ 20.00) New alternator (valued at 225.00) New filters & oil filters (valued at $ 110.00) New battery (valued at $100.00) Brand new (still in the box) Polished Holly 4 barrel carburetor (valued at $325.00) New gas tank and lines (valued at $475.00 includes tank straps) NOTES: This car doesn’t come with a warranty! (IT IS SOLD AS IS) All sales are final. You will be responsible for shipping costs and arranging and scheduling a pickup. I have described everything about this vehicle to the best of my knowledge. CONTACT ME PRIOR WITH ANY QUESTIONS 202-425-9932 I had the vehicle professionally inspected and two different mechanics told me I had a fairly solid car other that the minor things needed to be done. (Again its 51 years old). I bought the car with plans to restore it but realized I didn’t have the time to deal with it, and don’t have a place to park it anymore. If you’re looking for a classic with minor restoration efforts and costs then this is definitely the vehicle for you. Don’t miss this opportunity.
Yes there are other Cadillac’s from $300.00 to $5500.00 but most of them are all rusted out. Replacing and fixing rusted fenders and panels is costly, both in material and in labor. Then you have to sand prime and paint….. Don’t put yourself through the aggravation. Buy a solid fixer upper (THIS CAR IS NOT MISSING A SINGLE PART) so you can be out on the road quick! This car is as solid as it gets for the price! Happy Bidding! |

Cadillac XT5 caught uncovered during photo shoot
Fri, Jun 26 2015It's only been a few weeks since Cadillac announced that its replacement for the SRX, the new XT5, is on its way. Now, we have images of it out in the open and completely free of camouflage. Obtained by a reader at Jalopnik's Opposite Lock forum, the Caddy was spotted during what user Saw930 believes was a photo shoot in New York's trendy SoHo neighborhood. There's only a pair of images, from the front and rear three-quarters, but it's enough to give us a very thorough overview of the exterior styling on the new CUV. In short, the design language that has been seen on Escalade, CTS, and upcoming CT6 has indeed made its way to the SRX replacement. The broad, egg-crate grille is perhaps the cleanest iteration of Caddy's latest styling, while the CT6-inspired headlights look sharp, as well. Expect a similar headlight pattern to the CTS, with strong LED character accents on the outside of the headlights that integrate seamlessly with the lower DRLs. In back, the taillights curve over the rear haunches and blend into an extremely strong shoulder line. It's a dynamic and aggressive piece of design that we'll need to see in person before signing off on. The rear bumper, meanwhile, is a nicely styled piece, complete with twin, integrated, rectangular tailpipes that flank a piece of (probably faux) skid plating. There's a similar off-road treatment in the front bumper, as well. While we wait for scour for more news on the XT5, have a look at the two images Saw930 captured and posted at Oppo and let us know what you think in Comments.
2016 Cadillac CTS-V First Drive [w/video]
Fri, Jul 31 2015A million insects lost their lives today. Boxelder bugs and mayflies making the ultimate sacrifice in Elkhart Lake, their carapaces no buffer against a rocketing rectangle of safety glass. Their bodies gorily streaking into spangles along the diamond-faceted face of the Cadillac CTS-V. Road America is a four-mile ribbon of pavement snaking its way through the emerald center of the country's northern heartland. Since the 1950s it's seen uncountable fields of diverse racing machinery rocket over its hills and around its 14 corners. I would imagine that on those occasions the tramping of onlookers and hubbub of vehicles, both competitive and commonplace, would dissuade a great number of our six-legged friends from making their way onto the track. But today it's just me turning laps. Inconceivably just one journalist, driving the baddest roadgoing Cadillac ever made, on one of the loveliest circuits America has ever carved out. So big-winged bugs made it out to me in a vast array and a tragic sum, and I drilled through them oblivious to anything but one of the greatest days of driving I've ever had. Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster. For 2016 Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster worthy of the carnage described above. The words "epic" and "awesome" are hilariously overused on the Internet, but in the case of the CTS-V's 6.2-liter supercharged V8, their literal meanings are fitting. The capacity to produce 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque is astounding. Feeling those outputs come to growling life under my foot arch, uncorks different reactions in my brain as the day wears on: first trepidation, next cautious optimism, finally red-eyed bloodlust. A glance at the power and torque curves will show you that the charged V8 behaves more like a naturally aspirated thing than a turbo'd on/off switch. Peak torque arrives at 3,600 rpm, horsepower at 6,400, giving the engine lovely, linear power delivery. Even with top torque happening near the middle of the tach, there's no small amount of the stuff when the engine first spins up, so launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. Launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. On the roads around Wisconsin, using all of the available power is hardly advisable, but I have no trouble driving this fast car slowly (sort of).
GM recalling 2013 Buick LaCrosse, Cadillac SRX over transmission software
Thu, 21 Mar 2013The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued recalls for the 2013 Buick LaCrosse and 2013 Cadillac SRX due to a problem with the software for the transmission controller. On about 27,000 SRX and LaCrosse models, the transmission could accidentally be shifted to Sport mode, which would reduce the amount of engine braking drivers experience.
NHTSA says this could increase the risk of a crash, but, fortunately, the required fix is simply an update to the software.
While we're on the subject of General Motors vehicle recalls, a small number (48) of compressed natural gas versions of the 2011 Chevrolet Express are also being recalled for a potential risk of fire or explosion. Yikes. Both official recall notices are posted below.
