1936 Cadillac V-12 on 2040-cars
Tallahassee, Florida, United States
THIS IS A FANTASTIC REPRESENTATION OF A TRUE SURVIVOR! IT RUNS AND DRIVES AND ALL GAUGES ON THE DASH WORK PROPERLY. THE ORIGINAL RADIO AND HEATER ARE PRESENT, BUT THE RADIO WON'T COME ON. THE BODY IS STRAIGHT AND UPON INSPECTION DOES NOT REVEAL ANY SIGNIFICANT BODY DAMAGE OR FILLER. THERE ARE SOME MINOR DINGS AND SCRATCHES, AND SOME SCANT RUST SPOTS, BUT THE CAR IS VEY SOLID AND STRAIGHT OVERALL AND A FINE 79-YEAR+ EXAMPLE. FLOORBOARDS AND TRUNK ARE SOLID. ALL GLASS IS IN RESPECTABLE SHAPE, WITHT THE REAR WINDOW EXPERIENCING SOME FOGGING. THE RUBBER SEALS AROUND THE FRONT AND REAR WINDOW DO NOT LET ANY WATER IN--THE SEALS ARE WATER TIGHT! THE MANUAL PASSENGER WINDOWS GO UP AND DOWN (WITH A LITTLE STIFFNESS FROM NOON-USAGE ) AND ONLY ONE REAR WING-WINDOW HAS A CRACK. THE MOHAIR SEATS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE WITH NO HOLES OR TEARS. THE ORIGINAL JUMPSEATS ARE IN GREAT SHAPE WITH NO HOLES OR TEARS. THE INTERIOR WOOD TRIM IS IN EXCELLENT SHAPE WITH ONLY SOME MINOR WEAR AROUND THE FRONT PASSENGER WINDOW. THE HEADLINER HAS MOTH HOLES IN THE RIGHT REAR COMPARTMENT AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT AT SOME TIME. THE TIRES ARE NEWER WIDE WHITES APPROPRIATE FOR THE VINTAGE AND ARE VERY ROAD WORTHY. THIS CAR CAN BE DRIVEN AND LOADED EASILY ONTO A TRAILOR OR ROLL BACK. IT IS A SOLID ORIGINAL EXAMPLE THAT CAN BE DRIVEN REGULARLY WITH SOME MINOR MAINTENENCE, OR RESTORE IT TO ITS BEAUTY AND SPLENDOR FOR A SHOW CAR. EITHER WAY, THIS CAR TURNS HEADS, ESPECIALLY WITH ITS NUMBERS MATCHING DRIVETRAIN. THANKS FOR LOOKING. SEND ME AN OFFER OF YOU LIKE--NO GUARANTEES!

Akerson says Cadillac will get a larger sedan within two years
Mon, 22 Jul 2013It seems that during a recent affair showing off the 2014 Cadillac CTS, General Motors CEO Dan Akerson confirmed reports regarding a new Cadillac flagship sedan. According to USA Today, which Akerson was visiting, he said that a sedan larger than the XTS would debut within the next two years.
This matches up with what we heard earlier in the month about a Cadillac model that will go up against the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class (not a pricier, low-volume sedan also discussed in that article). But this is the first time a high-profile executive name has been attributed to such a report, and the first time a broad timeframe has been mentioned. This article adds that the unnamed car will be rear-, and all-wheel drive with a platform "loosely based" on the new CTS, with styling closer to that car than recent Cadillac concept vehicles. The XTS will continue production of course, as well.
Cadillac's Butler announces surprise departure
Mon, 05 Aug 2013The Detroit Free Press is reporting that Cadillac's vice president of global strategic development, Don Butler, has resigned. Butler has held the position since April, after a term as vice president of US marketing for General Motor's luxury brand.
As the report explains, the timing here is pretty unfortunate for Cadillac. Butler is the third high-profile member of Cadillac's brass to depart in recent months, following the firing of US sales boss Chase Hawkins and the pending departure of Susan Docherty. Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell told the Detroit paper, "Bob [Ferguson]," global boss for Cadillac, "and other leaders asked him to stay on. Don's here in the office today - and told our team that his decision is purely on a personal level. After three years of putting everything into Cadillac, he is stepping away for some personal time, and to consider new avenues in his life."
Butler says his decision is part of a decision to "recalibrate, reassess my priorities." Whatever the reason, it's an unpleasant surprise for Cadillac, which has been on a surge in 2013, with 30-percent jump in sales on the heels of the hot-selling ATS.
GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles
Fri, 04 Jan 2013As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.
GM's small car sales were up 39 percent last year helping to attain this million-sales mark for 30-mpg models, and almost 40 percent of all GM sales consisted of cars with fuel-efficient I4 engines. In regards to more advanced means of improving fuel economy, GM says that it plans on having 500,000 vehicles with "some form of electrification" on the road by 2017.
