1979 CADILLAC ELDORADO BIARRITZ

This is a Classic Cadillac.  Introduced in 1979, the trimmer, redesigned Eldorado was an instant hit .  The 1979 model year had the highly-desirable Oldsmobile fuel-injected, small-block 350CID (5.7 liter) V8 engine as well as features such as a long hood, egg-crate grill, frameless door glass and the extreme notchback roofline, making the rear window almost vertical.  The Biarritz trim package added the ultimate in luxury with additional chrome trim, a cabriolet roof featuring a brushed stainless steel roof section and an opulent interior.

This beautiful Cadillac was sold new locally at Lou Thompson Cadillac in Lakewood, Colorado.  It is a one-owner car  that was gently driven and always garaged.  Driven by Mom, obsessed over by Dad… it shows!

This car has 126,150 well-kept miles.  The interior, engine bay and details are very nice.   While in storage the past 10 years, the car was regularly started and occasionally driven (3000 miles over 10 years).  It runs and drives great -- there are no bad engine noises, smoke etc. and the transmission and brakes perform as they should.

Cosmetically, it is gorgeous.  The Western Saddle Metallic Firemist paint is absolutely stunning.  The color is carried through to the interior and roof for a rare triple-color combination.  The chrome is perfect, however, the paint does have some imperfections, most notably on the corner of the rear license plate deck.  There is no rust and it has never been in an accident.

The interior is all original with the exception of the factory radio, which was replaced with a Blaupunkt in-dash AM/FM autoreverse cassette deck.  The leather is soft and in good shape (with the exception of a small split seam on the leather passenger seat), as is the rest of the inside including the carpet, panels and headliner.    The trunk liner and mat/spare tire cover are all in good shape and look great.

Off-road Cadillac Escalade adds some extra bush country capability

Wed, 26 Jun 2013

So, you're a dyed-in-the-wool General Motors fan, but like the notion of a machine like the Hennessey Velociraptor. We have good news for you. Behold the Aria Coachworks XPLORE Cadillac Escalade. For a modest fee, Aria will outfit your Escalade with a custom suspension, BF Goodrich all-terrain tires wrapped around aluminum wheels, a Warn winch and a special exhaust. There's even a snorkel option for those of you with aspirations toward deep water crossings. Consider yourself warned, however: unlike other GMT900 SUVs, the Cadillac only has an all-wheel drive system, not the more rugged four-wheel drive setup of the Chevy Tahoe and GMC Yukon). Outside, the luxury SUV gets matte paint, black chrome trim, XPLORE power running boards and a roof rack system.
The interior also receives a few fun changes as well, but we're more interested in the fact that buyers can snag a power roof top tent. You know, in case you need to camp out at Best Buy for the PS4. There's also a matching camp trailer and, our personal favorite, a matching BMW GS motorcycle. Bikes not your bag of tricks? That's fine. Aria will also sell you a matched Airstream trailer or Old Town wooden canoes. As much as we want to hate this, we love the notion of bashing through the woods in a $100,000 Cadillac battlewagon with our GS in tow. Check the press release below for more information.

2016 Cadillac CTS-V First Drive [w/video]

Fri, Jul 31 2015

A million insects lost their lives today. Boxelder bugs and mayflies making the ultimate sacrifice in Elkhart Lake, their carapaces no buffer against a rocketing rectangle of safety glass. Their bodies gorily streaking into spangles along the diamond-faceted face of the Cadillac CTS-V. Road America is a four-mile ribbon of pavement snaking its way through the emerald center of the country's northern heartland. Since the 1950s it's seen uncountable fields of diverse racing machinery rocket over its hills and around its 14 corners. I would imagine that on those occasions the tramping of onlookers and hubbub of vehicles, both competitive and commonplace, would dissuade a great number of our six-legged friends from making their way onto the track. But today it's just me turning laps. Inconceivably just one journalist, driving the baddest roadgoing Cadillac ever made, on one of the loveliest circuits America has ever carved out. So big-winged bugs made it out to me in a vast array and a tragic sum, and I drilled through them oblivious to anything but one of the greatest days of driving I've ever had. Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster. For 2016 Cadillac has turned its CTS-V from a performance sedan to a monster worthy of the carnage described above. The words "epic" and "awesome" are hilariously overused on the Internet, but in the case of the CTS-V's 6.2-liter supercharged V8, their literal meanings are fitting. The capacity to produce 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque is astounding. Feeling those outputs come to growling life under my foot arch, uncorks different reactions in my brain as the day wears on: first trepidation, next cautious optimism, finally red-eyed bloodlust. A glance at the power and torque curves will show you that the charged V8 behaves more like a naturally aspirated thing than a turbo'd on/off switch. Peak torque arrives at 3,600 rpm, horsepower at 6,400, giving the engine lovely, linear power delivery. Even with top torque happening near the middle of the tach, there's no small amount of the stuff when the engine first spins up, so launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. Launching all 4,145 pounds of Detroit iron still feels exotic. On the roads around Wisconsin, using all of the available power is hardly advisable, but I have no trouble driving this fast car slowly (sort of).

Cadillac ATS to go racing in 2015 as CTS.V.R replacement

Thu, 21 Aug 2014

Cadillac has been racking up victories with the CTS.V.R in Pirelli World Challenge racing for two model generations now, including recent GT class championships in 2012 and 2013. However, even winning racers eventually have to retire, and it looks like the CTS may be taking a bow at the end of the season. In its place, Caddy is reportedly working on a new racecar based on the ATS Coupe, and it might even get to compete internationally.
According to Racer, Pratt & Miller Engineering is leading the development and is already lapping the ATS racecar in Michigan for testing. It reportedly drops the CTS' V8 in favor of a twin-turbocharged V6 powering the rear wheels. Since this is the same team behind the hugely successful Corvette Racing program and the current CTS.V.R, the latest car appears to be in good hands.
The new model would also adhere to GT3 rules, according to Racer, and that might signal a big change for Cadillac's motorsports program. It means that the ATS could be sold to teams in the numerous series around the world that accept these vehicles. That would broaden the luxury coupe's exposure and put it up against GT3 racecars from premium brands, like Bentley, Porsche and McLaren. If it wins, the change could be a marketing bonanza for the brand.
