No Reserve - Nice Caddy Eldorado Convertible, 65k Orig, Not 1975 1976 1984 1982 on 2040-cars
Putnam Valley, New York, United States
Nice, Low Mileage, Fully Loaded 1983 Cadillac Eldorado Convetible up for auction with NO RESERVE 65k original miles, fuel injected 4.1 V8. Options include power convertible top with boot cover, "Touring Suspension", split bench power seat with pillowtop leather seats, tilt wheel, "Sentinel" auto headlights, cruise control, digital "Symphonic" AM/FM cassette radio, dual mirrors, remote trunk release with power pulldown, locking wire wheels and the standard power windows, power steering and power disc brakes. Mechanical: The Caddy has always been well maintained. Recent work over the last ten years includes new front end work including both front axles/cv joints, shocks, ball joints, and bushings, new exhaust, new alternator and shocks as well as brakes, full tuneup and a recent brand new set of Michelin tires. The climate control works properly and the a/c compressor turns on but only blows cool, it could use a charge of R12 if available or a retrofit to modern freon. I will include a new driver's seat motor, it just needs to be installed. Otherwise, all the amenities work, the AM/FM stereo and cassette (the digital display of the radio station numbers is intermittent), the cruise control, the power windows are quick, the power top works perfectly, the remote trunk release and power pulldown work. I've had several 80's era Eldorados and this one by far runs and handles the best, you don't even feel the engine when you're stopped at a light. Cosmetics: The car still wears her original paint and still looks pretty good. There is a small spot of bubbling above the driver's rear wheel well, only visible up close and the rear plastic bumper fillers are beginning to crack. The door panels, rear panels dashboard / dash display, headliner and visors are in excellent condition, no cracks, tears or missing parts. The seats are in excellent condition as seen in the pix. The cushioning of the seats feels soft and comfortable. The convertible top was replaced around 2000, now the glass back window is becoming unglued from the convertible top at the bottom. The Caddy has never had any body repair, the floors and frame are solid and the chrome shines nicely. She's never been out in the winter, she's always been a "Garage Queen". The engine starts easily even after sitting for weeks and the garage floor is always dry when I pull the car out. She cruises nicely on the highway, shifts smoothly, disc brakes stop the car quickly, she idles evenly and the suspension is silky smooth over the roughest roads. On the highway she'll get easily over 20 MPG. The directional/brake/turn signal/headlights/brights work properly, as well as the wipers and the the external three color fender indicators (lights, brights and turn signal). Drives overall like it would have when driven off the dealer's lot in 1983. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the Caddy is for sale locally and I'm open to reasonable buy it now offers as well. I can assist with shipping in the USA or internationally if necessary, cost of shipping to paid by buyer. I can recommend a door to door auto shipper I've used in the past; they're professional, reliable and have great rates. If you need to get a quote my zip code is 10579. |

Bosch builds an infotainment system that just might not suck
Tue, Jan 30 2018As far as we've come with in-car infotainment and interfaces over the past decade or so, we still have a long way to go — as most current systems show. Whether it's high-end brands like Mercedes-Benz with its kludgy COMAND system, which we hope will be replaced with the MBUX platform revealed at CES, or more mainstream vehicles like Hondas (with their frustrating, knobless Display Audio interface), getting the kind of content and ease of use in the car that we're used to having on other connected devices is far too complex and sometimes costly. While Apple and Google have tried to ride to the rescue with CarPlay and Android Auto, respectively, they're limited solutions. No automaker or tech supplier has been able to deliver an easy, economical, flexible and non-distracting infotainment solution. But Bosch could be closing in on this elusive goal, given the digital cockpit concept demo I recently received at CES. Displayed in a Cadillac Escalade, the concept featured five interconnected color screens: one in the instrument cluster, two in the center console, and two more in the front-seat headrest for second-row passengers. The digital cockpit concept demo had cool features such as haptic-feedback touch-screen controls that created an edge-like feeling similar to a physical button, facial recognition to confirm driver credentials, and the intelligence to know the location of a phone in the car to lock it out to keep the driver from texting. The most significant aspect of the Bosch digital cockpit concept wasn't visible — but shows the company's vision for a future of seamless, convenient, cost-effective and safe in-car infotainment. It's powered by a single electronic control unit (ECU) that can simultaneously run multiple operating systems and also separates vehicle and infotainment controls for critical safety and cybersecurity reasons. Most modern cars can have as many as 100 separate ECUs, Philip Ventimiglia, product manager for Bosch Car Multimedia North America, explained at CES, and several just for infotainment functions. "The goal is to reduce that to about 10 so that we can save cost throughout the vehicle and enable new technologies," he added. "OEMs want to put more technology into cars, but it costs money," Ventimiglia said.
2016 Hennessey CTS-V is properly ridiculous with 1,000 horsepower
Thu, Apr 9 2015We truly live in a halcyon era of automotive performance with models like the latest Shelby GT350 Mustang and 707-horsepower Challenger Hellcat. And now Hennessey Performance Engineering is bringing something with absolutely obscene power to the world with its tuned 2016 Cadillac CTS-V that packs a ludicrous 1,000 horsepower. The latest CTS-V isn't even on sale yet but should be a powerhouse straight from the factory. Under its carbon fiber hood is a 6.2-liter supercharged LT4 V8 with 640 horsepower and 630 pound-feet of torque that makes the sedan capable of a 200-mile-per-hour top speed. Hennessey's take ditches the blower in favor of two turbos to feed air to the engine. To cope with the extra power, the mill gets upgrades like forged aluminum pistons and forged steel parts for the rods and crankshaft, and transmission upgrades are also necessary to make it all work. Buyers can even spec things like carbon-ceramic brakes and a widebody kit to allow for bigger tires. The crazy numbers are leading to some big performance claims from company founder John Hennessey. "I believe that our 2016 Twin Turbo CTS-V will have a top speed approaching 240 mph," he said in the Caddy's announcement. Hennessey is building just 24 of these 1,000-horsepower sedans for the 2016 model year. However, for those that want to keep the supercharger under the hood, the company is also offering upgrades with 750 hp and 800 hp for the CTS-V too. All of them sound absolutely ridiculous in an utterly fantastic way. 2016 HPE1000 Twin Turbo Cadillac CTS-V Texas Tuner Plans to Build World's Fastest 4-Door Sedan Sealy, Texas-When the next generation Cadillac CTS-V hits the streets later this year, it will have 640+ hp and a top speed of nearly 200 mph. To the team at Hennessey Performance Engineering (HPE), this is a good starting point. The company plans to pick-up where they left off with the last gen CTS-V by producing the world's fastest 4-door sedan: The Hennessey HPE1000 Twin Turbo CTS-V. "A couple of years ago, the State of Texas gave us the opportunity to test one of our specially tuned CTS-Vs – our VR1200 Twin Turbo coupe. It ran 221 mph (356 km/h) on State Highway 130, near the Circuit of the Americas", said company founder, John Hennessey. "It was still pulling on when we ran out of road. I believe that our 2016 Twin Turbo CTS-V will have a top speed approaching 240 mph (386 km/h)". Hennessey plans to offer a limited run of only 24 units for the 2016 model year.
Sunday Drive: An automotive flavor for every taste
Sun, Feb 25 2018Last week was flush with interesting new vehicle debuts, led by the new 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe. This crossover is entering straight into the heart of one of the world's most competitive automotive segments, and it's doing so with a fresh sense of style and a brace of new technologies. Our readers are clearly intrigued – the Santa Fe was the biggest news story of the last week on these online pages. It's fitting that a crossover generated a lot more interest than a traditional wagon, though we don't really have to be happy about it. Still, the completely new, fully redesigned Volvo V60 is worth taking another look at. First of all, it's pretty, in a traditionally Scandinavian way. Second, it's quick, with a 0-60 time of as little as 4.8 seconds. And finally, it's practical, with all kinds of room for cargo without the dynamic penalties of an unnecessary lift kit. Moving on from new vehicle debuts, we took another long look at the Honda Ridgeline. It's definitely a non-conformist pickup truck, based not on a body-on-frame platform but on a more carlike unibody design. That means it can't tow as much as some other trucks, but it also means the Ridgeline drives better than any of its more truckish competitors. It's the Swiss army knife of pickup trucks. Rounding out our coverage from last week are three sets of spy photos, each showing the interior of a hotly anticipated new model. One is a truck, one is a crossover, and the last is a sportscar. All of them are worth another look. As always, stay tuned to Autoblog this week for all the most important news in the automotive world. 2019 Hyundai Santa Fe unveiled 2019 Volvo V60 | Sleek, swift new twist on the Swedish wagon 2018 Honda Ridgeline | Pocketknife pickup is up for anything 2019 GMC Sierra interior looks just like the Silverado's 2019 Cadillac XT4 interior has actual buttons, no more touch-sensitive panel 2020 Porsche 911 992 spy shots show interior and manual transmission Cadillac GMC Honda Hyundai Porsche Volvo Truck Crossover Wagon Luxury Performance Sedan hyundai santa fe
