1999 Cadillac Eldorado on 2040-cars
Caldwell, Ohio, United States
This is a 1999 Cadillac Eldorado. The body is in good condition. I will begin by explaining the good things about this car then I will tell the bad things. The original engine/drive train was removed a year ago, the engine began overheating. I was facing either getting rid of it for a couple hundred dollars or repairing it. I found a car locally that was in the midst of an estate settlement. It was another 99 Cadillac that was owned by an elderly man that never permitted anyone to drive it. The car was dismantled because of no clear title. The entire drive train was switched. Transmission, axles, engine, struts, etc. This engine had 96,000 miles on it. The oil was clean. A local mechanic did the switch. The body has about 225,000 miles on it and given the condition I decided to fix it.
With the cost of the drive train and to have it switched cost about $2600.
The rear shocks were replaced a couple years ago. All new brake lines, one brake caliper, master cylinder and water pump. Air conditioning work. This amounted to another $700.
The engine runs smooth with no knocks or other noises, does not burn oil. It has extremely fast acceleration. The North Star Engine is strong. It cruises along nicely. It starts easily. The heated leather seats during cold months are very nice.
The bad. This car is going on 15 years old. The chassis has 220,000 miles on it. You should not expect this car to be like a new $50,000 Cadillac. Although the body is in good condition there are some details that need attention. The front bumper does not fit perfectly and the little trim pieces on the bumpers are loose. A rear brake lens is cracked. There are dings and small scratches. The air conditioner was charged last June and within a few weeks it lost its charge. The sun roof does not work well. There are dash light notifications showing anti lock brakes and occasional other messages. Purchase this car with the idea that the anti lock brake system may or may not be working. Other dash light notices do not seem to affect the running or driving of this car.
The pictures give a good idea of the condition. BUT I have found that often the pictures do make a car look a little better than the condition you will find in person. So, I want to be clear about what you will find if you buy this car. I would answer any questions. I want to make every effort to describe this car accurately to complete a transaction where the buyer and I am satisfied while maintaining my 100% positive feedback. Area code 740 my exchange is 581 and last 4 digits is 0114. We have a clear Ohio Title, it is located at zip 43724, I may be able to assist with delivery or shipping.

President Trump might get to start his administration in a new Cadillac limo [UPDATE]
Fri, Jan 13 2017(UPDATE: Jalopnik is reporting an unidentified source claimed the new limo would not be featured in today's inauguration ceremony. The source did say however that the limo would join the presidential fleet later this year.) A rumor is going around that President-Elect Donald Trump will have a brand new set of wheels the day he takes office. The Cadillac Presidential Limousine, nicknamed "The Beast," was last refreshed in 2009 and led President Barack Obama's second inauguration-day parade. Cadillac could not confirm any timeline for the new presidential limo, nor could it confirm any specifics about the car nicknamed Beast 2.0. That's as expected, because details on the presidential limo are closely guarded and considered matters of national security. The outgoing original "Beast" limo marked a switch to a custom-built vehicle based on a General Motors truck frame. Previous limos were based on the actual cars they looked like. As we've seen in spy shots, The Beast 2.0 limo looks more like an Escalade SUV or CT6 sedan but is reported to be roughly the same size and shape as the old Beast, which is built on a Chevrolet Kodiak/GMC TopKick medium-duty truck chassis. AutoWeek is reporting that the new limo is set to debut for Trump's inauguration, however those reports could not be confirmed for the reasons mentioned above. The new Presidential car is expected to accommodate seven passengers in conference-style seating in the back like the current version. The Beast isn't meant for road trips, as it is mostly used to ferry the President to and from Air Force One when traveling, or on short trips around Washington D.C. That's good, considering the current limo only gets 3.7 miles per gallon. Along with multiple screens for video conferencing, The next Beast will also definitely include advanced armoring and weaponry. For security reasons, it's impossible to know the extent of those systems, but any vehicle transporting the most powerful man in the world around has to be tough. The entire process of designing and building the Presidential limo is top secret, as the Secret Service figures the less everyone knows about the Presidential Limo, the better. The new Beast, we can safely assume, is likely the safest vehicle in the world. The Secret Service began taking bids on building a replacement in 2014 because integrating all of the required armor is technically challenging.
GM recalling 54k Cadillac SRX, HD pickup models
Thu, 01 May 2014There are more recalls to report General Motors, but these latest actions pertain to newer examples of the Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD. With so much scrutiny on the company's recall strategy, GM is under increasing pressure to call in defective models more quickly, and it appears to be doing so here.
Here in the US, the automaker is recalling 50,571 Cadillac SRX crossovers from the 2013 model year fitted with the 3.6-liter V6 because the transmission control module programming can cause a three- or four-second lag in acceleration at low speeds. The explanation filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration states, "if the following sequence occurs within two seconds: during an upshift from first to second gear (8-10 mph), the driver then brakes the vehicle to less than 5 mph, and then accelerates again," the delay can occur. According to Automotive News, the recall effects 56,400 vehicles worldwide, and the company is not aware of any crashes caused by the problem. The fix consists of a transmission control module (TCM) reflash.
In a separate recall, GM is repairing 51 Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickups from the 2015 model year in the US. In vehicles with diesel engines and dual fuel tanks, the nuts that connect the fuel pipe to each side of the transfer pump between the tanks may be improperly torqued, which could cause a fuel leak. Obviously, this could be a fire hazard. The remedy is simply tightening the hardware. According to GM spokesperson Alan Adler, there have been no fires actually caused by the potential leak. "Only 21 of the trucks are in customer possession and they can be fixed anytime because there are no parts involved. The others are being fixed at dealerships," Adler said in an email to Autoblog.
