1989 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Pearl White/tan Show Quality on 2040-cars
Auburn, Massachusetts, United States
Up for auction is my 1989 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz, the car is pearl white, (white diamond) with a tan leather (antelope) interior, all original, un-restored, with only 42,300 miles. This is a southern CA car and has never seen a northern winter. Garage kept, and in "show quality" condition. No rust anywhere, original paint and body panels, no accident history, non smoker. The leather interior is perfect as are the door panels and dash. Even the spark plug wires and exhaust system are original. This Biarritz has the rare Teves ABS option which is in good working condition. There were less than 7500 Biarritz models produced in 1989 and few left in this condition today. The 89 Eldorado has a Cadillac 4.5L V8 with throttle body fuel injection so it only requires regular fuel and averages 22-24MPG on the highway. I have recently changed the oil and filter, changed the coolant and thermostat, changed the transmission fluid and filter, replaced the air filter, fuel filter, PCV valve and installed new front sway bar bushings and end links. The AC system has been converted to 134A and blows ice cold. The rear leveling shocks have been replaced with the correct AC Delco shocks and the leveling system works as designed. Also has new rear brake pads. The car rides on Hankook touring tires with 90% tread remaining. The car rides smooth with no rattles or unusual noises. Mechanically the only item the next owner may want to address would be the front struts as they are the originals and have an extra bounce or two when going over an uneven road surface. I am a member of the Cadillac & LaSalle Club and the AACA, I have owned a 91 Allante, a 90 Eldorado and a 91 Seville of the (4) cars this 89 Biarritz is the nicest and would present well at any national or regional collector/classic car show. Please see my feedback as a seller to view the comments left for me regarding the sale of my 90 Eldorado and a 93 Allante. This is a reserve auction and I will not disclose the reserve price however, it is below certain collector car value guides for a "Condition" 1 or 2 89 Eldorado Biarritz. I would say this car is closer to a number 2 car only because there are two hair line scratches about 2 inches long in the right front fender not visable in the photos, both have been filled in with touch-up paint but visable when standing next to the car. Also (2) of the wire wheel covers show some curb damage not visable in the photos. Thank you for considering my Eldorado and please e-mail me or call 774-633-0683 with any questions. |

GM recalls 83,572 SUVs for ignition switch issue
Sun, Jan 4 2015General Motors is recalling 83,572 SUVs from the 2011 and 2012 model years over a potential ignition lock actuator issue. In affected vehicles, the actuator isn't the right size, which could cause the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position, and then either due to a jarring event or a "cool interior temperature" the ignition could switch back to the "Accessory" position. Doing so would cause a loss of power assistance and the airbags might not deploy. This is a different ignition issue than the one that's been ongoing for the past year. GM said it expects that less than 500 vehicles suffer from the problem, but that the pool could include vehicles from 2007 through to 2014 that have already been fixed, but with defective parts. The 2011-2012 SUVs included in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration notice: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra LD, Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. GM will notify owners and dealers will inspect the ignition lock housing to see if it needs a free replacement. RECALL Subject : Ignition Lock Actuator may Bind Report Receipt Date: DEC 30, 2014 NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V827000 Component(s): ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Manufacturer: General Motors LLC SUMMARY: General Motors LLC (GM) is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Silverado HD, Silverado LD, Suburban, Tahoe, GMC Sierra LD, Sierra HD, Yukon, and Yukon XL vehicles. In the affected vehicles, the ignition lock actuator may bind, making turning the key difficult or causing the ignition to get stuck in the "Start" position. CONSEQUENCE: If stuck in the "Start" position, the ignition may suddenly snap back into the "Accessory" position, causing a loss of engine, steering, and braking power, increasing the risk of a vehicle crash. If the vehicle is in a crash, the air bags may not deploy, increasing the risk of occupant injury. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the ignition lock housing, as necessary, free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule. Owners may contact GM customer service at 1-800-458-8006 (Cadillac), 1-800-222-1020 (Chevrolet), or 1-800-462-8782 (GMC). GM's number for this recall is 14696 for the original equipment, and 14912 for the service replacement parts.

GM recalling 8.4M cars, 8.2M related to ignition problems
Mon, 30 Jun 2014General Motors today announced a truly massive recall covering some 8.4 million vehicles in North America. Most significantly, 8.2 million examples of the affected vehicles are being called back due to "unintended ignition key rotation," though GM spokesperson Alan Adler tells Autoblog that this issue is not like the infamous Chevy Cobalt ignition switch fiasco.
For the sake of perspective, translated to US population, this total recall figure would equal a car for each resident of New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Montana, Delaware, South Dakota, Alaska, North Dakota, the District of Columbia, Vermont and Wyoming. Combined. Here's how it all breaks down:
7,610,862 vehicles in North America being recalled for unintended ignition key rotation. 6,805,679 are in the United States.
