1986 Cadillac Eldorado America's Cup Ii 6,446 Miles As New on 2040-cars
Archbald, Pennsylvania, United States
1986 Cadillac Eldorado America's Cup Edition This is perhaps the very finest of it's kind in existence. One owner since new with only 6,446 actual miles. Purchased new by the original owner for his wife who sadly passed away within a short time after buying the car. Never intended to be driven daily, the car was only used for proverbial Sunday trips locally to go out to dinner. NEVER had the car been taken out in inclement weather under any circumstances. After the wife's passing, the gentleman, out of homage his late wife - had a garage door installed - allowing the car to be parked in the dining room(!) of the man's home which is where the car sat for some 20 years. The car had not seen a road surface from 2002 until 2013. Now faced with advancing age and health issues a decision had to be made and the gentleman consulted me as 25 year member of the Cadillac & La Salle Club and Cadillac specialist for both - putting in order as needed and market the car for him. The America's Cup was a special edition of the Eldorado to mark Cadillac's sponsorship of the event. 1,986 were made in 1986; 1,987 produced for 1987 model year. These were the only two years the model had been produced. Special standard features of America's Cup Eldorado. Exterior: Special color combination of white with blue lower body sides. The blue was intended to suggest the waterline of a sailing vessel. Special aluminum turbine vaned wheels with blue vaned area, color keyed to harmonize with lower body sides. Special pinstripe of two-tone red & blue. Special America's Cup medallion on sail panel. NOTE: All America's Cup edition Eldorado had full painted roof. Vinyl roof is NOT correct on this edition. If you see a vinyl roof on an America's Cup edition, it had been installed aftermarket. Interior: Leather seating area available in two choices only: Dark blue, with dark blue door panels, headliner and carpeting OR white leather with white doors panels, headliner with dark blue carpeting. This car is the all dark blue version. Interior trimmed the same as used on the Eldorado Biarritz - biscuit style with genuine wood applique used on steering wheel center hub, power window switch trim and center console areas. America's Cup medallion in steering wheel center hub. 1986 Eldorado Biarritz and Seville Elegante models marked the first time Cadillac used real wood for an interior in 20 years. What we did: Air compressor: Due to such non use for such a duration, the air conditioning compressor had seized - which is no surprise really. A brand new Delco air compressor was professionally installed at our shop and a fresh recharge of oil and refrigerant. R12 was used from our stock in order to ensure proper air condition function and of course, preserve the original integrity of the air condition system as originally designed. (R134 retrofit conversion of R12 systems work very poorly in stopped traffic on very hot days!) Power antenna: Again, due to disuse, the power antenna had gotten sticky and when the antenna had been activated, the cable broke inside power antenna assembly. Again, in the interest of devotion to originality, the assembly was removed and sent out to a power antenna restoration specialist and rebuilt with new extension cable. These power antenna units had long gone out of production many years now and the so-called "GM replacement" generic antennas look absolutely hideous with the black bulb that sits atop the fender. As you can see, the correct antenna escutcheon is still present as when the car left the plant. All other equipment is in perfect operational order. All paint is exactly as it left the showroom in 1986, original and perfect. Interior is absolutely as new in every respect and still smells like a brand new Cadillac leather interior should! All trim - both exterior and interior is in mint condition. It would not be too far to say that most any part removed from the car could pass for NOS. Tires: Original Uniroyal Tiger Paw all season radials. They have been on the car since day 1. Tread wear is minimal, like new. Should be used for show only. Replacement is strongly recommended if the car is to be driven at highway speed. Documentation: Loads of paperwork including letters, original bill of sale from Hornbeck Chevrolet Cadillac, financing documents, worksheets, business cards, etc etc too numerous to list. It's all here. Normal heavy wear items such as steering wheel rim, driver's seat are as new, exhibiting no wear - as would be expected for a vehicle of this mileage. Everything is just like new in every detail, right down to the gold cadmium plating on door latches. I have tried to highlight as many of these as possible in the photo allotment allowed. The photos do not do this car justice. Mechanically the car is excellent as would be expected. Engine is quiet, transmission shifts smoothly. No issues found with braking system. In all, this is likely one of the finest & lowest mileage 1986 Eldorados extant today, virtually guaranteed to take top flight awards at any CLC event judged in it's class. No amount of restoration could ever duplicate this level of condition. Please call 570-876-2001 if there are any further questions. Will be happy to assist in any way that I reasonably can. |

2014 Cadillac ELR is making green sexy in Detroit
Tue, 15 Jan 2013
In terms of styling, inside and out, the ELR hits the ball out of the park.
Cadillac has pulled the wraps off of its newest family member, the long-rumored, Voltec-powered, eye-catching extended range hybrid coupe called the ELR. The car makes use of the same basic architecture as the Chevrolet Volt, but has been thoroughly layered on with design, technology and performance tuning - with the goal of being a properly situated product for the Cadillac brand.
Hotter Cadillac ATS-V+ could use LS7 power
Tue, May 26 2015Rumor has it Cadillac is working on an even hotter version of the ATS-V, possibly called ATS-V+. And the latest intel from Motor Trend suggests this new model might have a great, big V8 under the hood. The V8 in question is the high-revving, naturally aspirated 7.0-liter LS7 from the Camaro Z/28. The hand-built engine makes 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque in the Z/28 – a nice increase over the 464 hp and 445 lb-ft in the standard ATS-V, which uses a twin-turbocharged 3.6-liter V6. Motor Trend says the ATS-V+ will come to market with an eight-speed automatic transmission, as well as the seven-speed manual 'box from the Corvette. A dual-clutch transmission will come to market later. Of course, we'll believe it when we see it. But an LS7-powered ATS-V sure sounds like a great package to us. Here's hoping.
Cadillac considering ultra-luxe, $100k+ Escalade
Tue, Sep 22 2015The Cadillac Escalade has pushed incrementally up-market over the years. From its humble Chevy/GMC truck underpinnings, the latest Escalade starts at $72,970 and tops out at $96,940. But according to the latest reports, Cadillac is weighing an even more upscale version. Though the exact nature of the upgrades that would push the Escalade further up-market remain unknown – and perhaps undecided at this point – the impetus for such a move is crystal clear. European luxury SUVs keep getting more and more expensive, both from established players and new challengers. Bentley just launched the Bentayga, and other luxury marques like Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Maserati, and Lamborghini are all getting into the game. All the while manufacturers like Land Rover and Mercedes-Benz keep rolling out ever more expensive offerings, like the Range Rover Autobiography and anticipating forthcoming Maybach sport-ute. To challenge those European imports with their astronomic price tags, Cadillac could go with an even higher trim level than its existing Platinum spec – or it could go with a more powerful, performance-oriented Escalade V or Vsport. Getting that big a vehicle to hustle would require a lot of power, but then General Motors has never been one to shy away from slotting a bigger engine into its vehicles. One thing's for certain though, and that's that Cadillac isn't quite done with pushing the Escalade higher up the market.
