This 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz was bought by my parents 06/02/1990 or nearly 25 years ago. The car came out of Tulsa Oklahoma and was one of only a few Black convertibles made by Cadillac in their final year for them. (Have been told around 200 black ones but no proof) It currently has 80040 original miles on it and with a 1000 dollars or so spent would be show ready. It does not have a spot of rust on it and looks beautiful from the road. All gold trim except luggage rack which was bought and is in trunk ready to be installed. The black original paint is actually in very good shape and the convertible top is nearly flawless. It goes up and down like clock work. As for outside of car, the only things I feel that need replaced are the plastic pieces that have gotten brittle over the years. Both front corner and both back pieces where trunk opens have cracks etc and could used replaced. The red interior has no dash cracks and no tears or worn spots on seats. Carpet is in great shape. The buttons of the interior have some minor discoloration but may just need cleaned. Inside the radio clock works but radio does not currently but has before went into storage. The air could also use some Freon but all power options work fine etc. As for other minor things I would do is I would put on a new tailpipe and eventually tires will need replaced as they have 35000 miles on them. After getting out of storage we replaced the fuel pump where the garage guys drooled over the car and it has ran great. Starts right up etc. Remember this is a nearly 30 year old car but for its age, it is in excellent shape. I have been on ebay since the beginning nearly 20 years ago and have perfect feedback and don't want this to mess it up so am trying to explain everything I can find or see. I can text many more pics from my phone and car is welcome to be looked at etc if you can get here. I am near Springfield Illinois. The title is clear and ready for a new owner and a little tlc will produce a beauty! Please ask any questions before bidding and remember if you bid you will be expected to buy. Otherwise car can be picked up or will work with shipper at your expense.
Added: 4/30/13: Thank you for all of the quick interest and responses. Just to answer a few for all. Yes, the car is for sale locally and yes I am willing to do a buy it now of 18,000 if anyone is interested before it gets a bid. Yes, if a bid is placed, it is going to the highest bidder even if it is only one bid on the opening bid. My dad saw one sell for nearly 20,000 recently on ebay and decided he never uses and is willing to part with. Also, sorry but he is not interested in taking less than the opening bid. Hopefully this helps clarify many of your questions and thank you again.

2016 Cadillac CT6 to get an aluminum body?
Sat, Dec 27 2014Well this is interesting: A hot-off-the-press report in Automobile claims the coming Cadillac CT6 will have an aluminum body. Most write-ups on the CT6 claim it will have a body that's a combination of aluminum and high-strength steel - Automobile itself wrote of "high-strength steel, aluminum, and steel stampings" in October. An all-aluminum body would be quite the reversal, contradicting the last four months of reportage and company statements on the matter. Mark Reuss, EVP of global development at General Motors, told The Detroit News in October, "We will create with the CT6, the world's most advanced body structure... [and] it's not aluminum. It's a stronger, smarter, safer premium luxury vehicle." It echoed the earlier Automobile story in saying the CT6 would use GM's "patented welding technology with high-strength steel, aluminum and steel stampings and castings." That same month, the Wall Street Journal ran a piece titled, "GM Won't Follow Aluminum Strategy in Future Cars," in which Reuss said, "making big statements around all carbon fiber, all aluminum, all magnesium, they're very interesting," and that GM wouldn't be doing it. That piece also circled back to a material mix and GM's special welding process, saying the CT6 "will have a body made of aluminum, high-strength steel and other materials, and will be 100 kilograms (220 pounds) lighter than a similar-sized car made of high-strength steel." We don't know what kind of body Cadillac's new assault on luxury is going to wear, but now we can't wait to find out. GM to build $1.3 billion Cadillac plant in China
Wed, 08 May 2013General Motors has gotten approval to build a $1.3 billion manufacturing facility for its Cadillac brand in China. China's National Development and Reform Commission signed off on plans for GM to build the plant in the country's Shanghai's Jinqiao zone; construction is expected to begin in June of this year. According to a Bloomberg report, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 150,000 units.
No surprise here, but Cadillac would like to sell a lot more cars in the plush Chinese luxury market. The brand moved only 30,010 cars in China last year, compared with 400k for Audi, and about 330k for BMW. With Cadillac already telling us that it would be moving production of its XTS sedan to China - a production decision that saves having to pay 25-percent import tariffs - approval of the factory is a critical win for the company.
In fact, according to earlier comments by GM China president Bob Socia, it's at least conceivable that Chinese-built Cadillacs could be shipped back to the US for sale. The brave new world of globalization, getting stranger by the minute.
GM's Mark Reuss explains why a performance Cadillac ELR-V won't happen
Tue, Mar 18 2014Hey, I've got enough things to worry about. That's one interpretation of General Motors executive vice president Mark Reuss' response to a question posed by Driving the Nation about the recently-introduced Cadillac ELR plug-in hybrid. Reuss said GM will "definitely expand the tuning envelope" for the ELR. The question was whether GM would consider adding magnetic ride control to the quite-powerful-for-a-plug-in Caddy, creating an "ELR-V" model in the process. Reuss' non-answer: "Good question, can't really answer that," but then elaborated that magnetic ride control uses up "a lot" of power otherwise spoken for in terms of providing the longest electric-only range possible. Interestingly, he did add that GM will "definitely expand the tuning envelope" for the ELR, as you can see in the video below. With the model retailing for north of $75,000, fewer than 60 percent of US Cadillac dealers were carrying the ELR as of last month and just 99 ELRs were sold during the first two months of the year. In an effort to sell more vehicles, GM said in January that it would offer the ELR for a 39-month lease for $699 a month for qualified lessees and with a $5,999 down-payment required. Autoblog's First Drive impressions of the ELR can be found here.
