This immaculate 1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz only has 32k miles.

This would be the last year for this Eldorado body which made it's debut in the fall of 1978(1979-1985). If ever there was a car that automotive enthusiasts and non-automotive enthusiasts alike will come together on, the Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz is the one. Most will agree that this is one of the best looking cars ever created. It get's approving comments whenever it is driven from the young, old, male, and female alike about how great looking it is. That makes a strong statement about the future collectability of these Eldorados.

These Eldorados continue to get better looking as the years go by as well. A unique ensemble of Cadillac tradition in design with it's limo style rear window and the rear of the car having definite styling cues from the 67-70 Eldorados. The Biarritz package raised the bar considerably with it's stainless steel roof which was a nod back to the 57 and 58 Eldorado Broughams. The Biarritz also included a wide chrome strip perfectly placed across the roof and then sweeping down the tops of the doors on down to the end of the front fenders. Tufted leather or velour interiors were much more plush than the non-Biarritz Eldorado. Padded landau vinyl roofs were standard on the Biarritz as well.

The demand for this body amongst collectors has never been higher. Cadillac aficionados are snapping the best examples up for their collections. Most prefer to own the last year of a body style and 1985 was the very last year for this incredible body style and from a design standpoint was GM at it's finest hour. These Eldorados were the last of a classic style era which will never be produced again.

This immaculate example is finished in a very classic color combination of Cotilian White with Carmine Red leather interior. Hard loaded with the astro-roof, memory seats, auto-dimming lights, twilight sentinel, extremely rare factory alloy touring wheels and the list goes on.

The essence of "personal luxury" this Biarritz drives like a dream.

1985 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz in Cotillian White with Carmine Red Leather interior.

I have had the privilege of owning quite a few of these Eldorados in my 20+ years of Cadillac collecting, and this particular example is hands down in the best condition of them all. This particular Eldorado was a one-owner car and has always been collector owned and garage kept.  With only 32k miles, this Cadillac needs no excuses and stands well to be a very lucrative long term investment. The best resale colors for these are white, red, blue and black.

This Cadillac has been professionally detailed and could be put directly into a car show as it sits.

The bumper rub strips are like new with no scrapes.

All lenses are clear and free of cracks.

Very rare factory touring wheels. There is an extra touring wheel in the trunk mounted on a matching Michelin tire.

This Cadillac was ordered with a generous list of options, with a sticker price of almost $29k whereas a base Eldorado stickered for $21,319. Some of these options include; Touring wheels($429), Memory Drivers Seat($225), Leather Seating Area($680), Twilight Sentinel($85), Guidematic Head lamp Control($128), Astro Roof($1,225) Power Passenger seat recliner w/six-way power seat($380),  Electric Remote-control Outside Mirrors($101), Symphony Sound AM/FM Cassette ($299), Illuminated Vanity Mirrors Driver and Passenger($140), Illuminated Entry System($80), Rear Window Defogger including Heated Outside Mirrors($220), and the list goes on.

Factory paint all the way around is very glossy. No fading anywhere on this car.

  Drivers side rocker panel,, flawless.

Class at every angle.

No pitting on any of the chrome.

.

Tail light lenses are clear and as new.

Not a single door ding on this car. none.

Proper factory stance.

Chrome rocker panels are like the rest of the car,,,gorgeous.

Standard of Excellence

Perfect vinyl landau top.

Stainless steel roof

Door jambs and hinge area are free of any rust or corrosion all the way around.

This Biarritz is so fresh. Door panels are plump and free of cracks.

Rare Drivers memory seat

The leather in this car is amazing.

Clean rust free hinges

I would hop in this car and drive it anywhere.

This Cadillac has all of it's original front and rear floor mats including the trunk mat.

Time capsule.

Drivers seat leather perfection.

You can almost sum up a car's history just from the condition of the drivers seat..

32k miles. Perfect carfax on this Eldorado.

This is the icing on the cake to not only have the ultra rare touring wheels but to also have a perfect extra in the trunk!

Above is from the factory brochure showing the two wheel choices. Wire wheel hubcaps or the more expensive alluminum Touring Wheel. The real wire wheels you see on some eldorados are not factory original equipment. They were dealer added. White walls were also made smaller for 1985 whereas the 84 and older had 1.5 inch wide white wall tires.

This car runs very smooth and shifts excellent. Such a pleasure to drive.

Bid with confidence, win with high expectations!

Cadillac Super Cruise, a hands-off review

Fri, Oct 6 2017

Cadillac Super Cruise won't let you eat breakfast behind the wheel, climb in the back seat or any of the other stupid human tricks displayed on YouTube by Tesla owners. It even won't allow the car to change lanes on its own, like Tesla Autopilot. But it's a big step on the road to full autonomy, a huge convenience on long-distance road trips and a substantial technological triumph for Cadillac. In the simplest terms, Super Cruise is a lane-centering enhancement to adaptive cruise control (ACC). But Super Cruise is anything but simple. Its technical complexity — hence its long delay after first being unveiled five years ago — belies its straightforward operation and intuitive user interface, which I discovered on an almost 750-mile, 11-hour drive in a 2018 Cadillac CT6 between Dallas and Santa Fe to test the system. LOADS OF LIMITATIONS First, let's dispense with the details and disclaimers. Super Cruise is standard on the 2018 CT6 Platinum and a $5,000 option on other trim levels. Because Super Cruise is supported by OnStar — an OnStar operator will call to find out if first responders need to be sent in a worst-case scenario — a three-year OnStar Super Cruise Package is included with the system. Super Cruise has loads of limitations that are probably more concerning to GM's legal counsel than they were to me during my long drive. Some are no-brainers, such as not for use in construction zones or for driving on the shoulder. But the system can also be stymied by adverse weather, poor visibility and faded lane markings. Super Cruise only works on freeways with on and off ramps and a center divider. ACC and forward collision warning also need to be engaged, and the system's cameras and radar sensors can't be obstructed. To keep drivers from looking away from the road for too long — and to keep the system active — an infrared camera on top of the steering column keeps an electronic eye on the driver's seat. GM has over 100 patents alone on this Driver Attention System, including an algorithm that triangulates the nose, eyes and ears in case the camera can't see through sunglasses to make sure you're not nodding off. In addition to the car's visible sensors, another major component of the system is something you don't see: mapping software. But not the kludgy kind that powers in-dash navigation systems.

The syrupy sweet tale of the Pink Cadillac Margarita

Thu, Mar 23 2017

In our last installment of the irregular and irreverent series on drinks loosely connected to – or named after – automobiles, we sipped a Taxi cocktail, which in its original form tasted a bit like a margarita infused with Blackjack chewing gum , except worse. This time, we explore mythos behind a drink so pink it usually doesn't make you stop and think. But that's what we're going to do. And, as always, enjoy cocktails (and reading about them) while you're not behind the wheel. Our brother lives in Detroit, where old American cars go to not die. On the streets of the Motor City, you will see all manner of holey-mufflered, salt-rotted, spring-sagging Big Three iron plowing along shoddily. Our brother's next-door neighbor is a connoisseur of such vehicles, and thus populates his driveway with a cache of Malaise Era Cadillacs. (His dog lives in one.) His latest addition, which our brother texted us a photo of recently while we were eating fish tacos in Los Angeles, is a Desert Rose 1977 Coupe DeVille (seen below). Since we're always thinking about cars or drinking (or both), and we were eating Mexican, this put us in mind of a cocktail our cousin's trashy bridesmaid made us try at her wedding in Charleston: the Pink Cadillac Margarita. Suddenly, we were thirsty. The Pink Cadillac Margarita is, quite obviously, a pink drink – a somewhat cloying, if deliciously chuggable concoction colored with a spritz of Ocean Spray, or Chambord liqueur if you're classy. Pink drinks get a bum rap. Blame it on the Cosmopolitan, and everyday misogyny, but many people find pink drinks frivolous. As expert drinkers, and drink experts, we would counter that the consumption of alcohol is, at its essence, about being frivolous. Never mind that the chemical is a depressive; Consuming it is about putting on your rose (or rose) colored glasses, and getting ready to make some mistakes. The Pink Cadillac is apparently so named not just because of its signature color and the irresistible musical connection between Cadillacs and pinkness (see: Aretha, Springstein, Natalie Cole). The moniker also derives from the quality of the ingredients – drawing on the historical expression "The Cadillac of..." to signify something top-shelf. "It's difficult to know quite how that name was derived," says Melody Lee, Cadillac's director of brand strategy.

Cadillac toned down ATS Coupe design due to customer feedback [w/poll]

Tue, 02 Sep 2014

Automakers always face a difficult decision when it comes to styling their cars. Design them too blandly and nobody will get excited about them. But style them too aggressively and they'll often end up turning off potential buyers.
Cadillac, for its part, is no stranger to aggressive design, but when it came to the new ATS Coupe, it elected to tone things down a bit. Speaking with The Detroit News in a wide-ranging interview, Cadillac design director Bob Boniface revealed that the original design for its compact coupe was edgier - closer to that of the CTS Coupe - with a wedgier profile, a more steeply raked beltline and a more severe grille. But potential customers surveyed in clinics apparently didn't like it. They found it looked heavy, inefficient and not fun to drive. So Boniface and his team literally went back to the drawing board and "took as much visual mass out of the car as [they] could." The resulting coupe, while handsome, looks far more similar to its four-door companion than did Cadillac's CTS.
What do you think, does the new ATS Coupe look just right, or is it too conservative? Voice your opinion in our quick online poll.
