1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz 2 Dr. Stainless Steel 4.1l Digital Fuel Injected on 2040-cars
Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
This is my 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz with Stainless Steel Top, and the dealer added sunroof. Everything is here and as original as they come. This car was last driven in the summer of 2013, late-June. Where you see her (garage), is where she's sat since. Am not sure why suddenly quit, just quietly stopped. The engine is free, a 252 cu. in. - digital fuel injected. Either it is spark or fuel or both, but believe it's towards spark. This car runs very well once she is going again. Runs "fast", she's a runner! and is quiet while doing this feat ~ passing is no problem for this girl. I've driven this Eldorado 6 years + with no problems. Get in, put key in and go~ Ever since owning her, never had a tune-up, changed wires, spark plugs, nothing other than regular maintenance of oil, filter, air filter, and tires (the tires presently are 200 miles old) installed last year before summer (radials). She's tight and road fit otherwise with (alittle rattle and humm). There are many new parts that will come with this cadillac, which haven't been installed, (alternator, starter - big buck items, new intank fuel pump, fuel filter) to mention a few, to include a complete engine gasket set (boxed), this last item - I had ordered in the first year of owning. Again, tires are new with 200 miles on them, there is a warranty but I doubt it will apply to the new owner. Front brakes are fairly new. (have new rear brake pads in trunk) There are new rear air shocks included w/fixtures to go, am naming off those items I can remember bought new for this old girl. All belts are new. She will need interior work, paint and vinyl. The vinyl, I do have (new), but it is not the cushioned vinyl as seen on car. The battery is fairly new, 1+ year old and is the correct (750 cold crank amp). She's been given basic good care all these years, just never came to having paint or interior work done. A (very good) daily driver...driven easy for most of those years. (Bought in January 2007 with 109,000 miles, since that time now are 166,139 miles registered on odometer of June 2013). There have been those occasions when had to pass,... punch and she goes~ Again - Never in those 6+ years, have I had any problems, never! If anything, she's gotten looks and asked about. (at least once a month - would I sell her) There will be those items regarding electric - such as the front driver's seat, the buttons on driver's door that make it work, that is poor or a poor connection. Power door locks, and cruise control are about the only items that bothered me if anything, but didn't take away in the ease and comfort of this old black Cadillac. The sunroof works fine, (needs plugged in) the windows work well, passenger seat works well and reclines, both outside electric mirrors, rear window defrost, most of everything electric works well for this car's age. The rubber around windows are fairly good. The seal concerning doors are fairly good. The rubber that goes between the windows and doors are dry rotted. The seal going around sunroof needs replacing, it keeps the weather out well enough, but would recommend having it replaced. (is why is unplugged) The air conditioner will need a complete vacuum and re-seal to work again, but is all there and complete. Passed emissions - in October 2012 (2 year emissions) - no problem! All lights, turn signals, and brake lights - work fine! All interior lights work fine! Glove box just needs a bulb, but does work. All lighters, except in dash, work fine! Has a Kenwood CD am/fm Stereo with remote control - Led Zeppelin's 4th - CD album is in there, once you have it back on, you'll find it (there's an added plus). Power trunk release works fine, pull-down doesn't (needs replace). Since owned, never in any collisions and far as I know when purchased in beginning, never had any. Straight looking Black Cadillac for your consideration. Owner's Manual. Shop manuals. Own a piece of Cadillac History. Please see all pictures, ask all questions. This automobile will need transport at new owner's expense, preferably by trailer where it can be secured and towed safely on the road, one that has lights and brakes, tie-downs or chains to that effect... and last, all state taxes, registration fees and title concerning your state will be at new owner's expense.

Cars with the most reckless drivers are full of surprises
Wed, Oct 13 2021Insurify is a site for comparing auto insurance quotes. Because insurance shoppers need to submit information like the vehicles they're driving and the infractions they've compiled while driving those vehicles, Insurify has quite the database of correlations tying certain models to a habit of breaking certain laws. When the site's data analysts decided to compile a list of the top ten models for reckless driving citations in the decade from 2010 to 2019, the ranking contained a few wild entries. The Dodge Challenger making the countdown will surprise precisely zero people. But the Saturn L200? First, a definition: USLegal.com defines reckless driving as "driving with a willful or wanton disregard for safety. It is the operation of an automobile under such circumstances and in such a manner as to show a willful or reckless disregard of consequences." So this list is a caution about particular drivers more than the cars. For a baseline, according to Insurify data, for any random model, 15 out of 10,000 people who drive that model have picked up one citation for reckless driving. Back to that Challenger, then. No shocker for being here, but it's actually number 10, with 44 out of 10,000 Challenger drivers nabbed for a willful disregard of consequences on the road. That's better than the first surprise entry, the Saturn L200, a sedan only on sale for six years, with the least horsepower on the list, and out of production since 2005. The data set put drivers of GM's extraterrestrial sedan at 45 reckless pilots per 10,000 drivers. There are two pickups on the list, the only modern one being the Ram 1500 at eighth, with a rate of 46 in 10,000. Somehow, drivers of the third-best-selling pickup in the U.S. outrun the overwhelming numerical superiority of the best-selling vehicle in the States, the Ford F-150. The other pickup is the Chevrolet K1500 at number five, with a rate of 56 in 10,000. This is not only the oldest vehicle on the list, it went out of production in 2002, before any other vehicle on the list. Between the trucks, the Volkswagen CC slotted in at seven with 47 in 10,000 reckless driving chits, the Cadillac ATS slipped into sixth with 48 in 10,000. The top four is a bag of unexpected. The Nissan 370Z is the first hardcore sports car on the list at number four, with 61 in 10,000 Z drivers flaunting their Fairladys in the face of Johnny Law.
GM seeks national mandate for zero-emissions cars
Fri, Oct 26 2018DETROIT — General Motors says it will ask the federal government for one national gas mileage standard, including a requirement that a percentage of auto companies' sales be zero-emissions vehicles. Mark Reuss, GM's executive vice president of product development, said the company will propose that a certain percentage of nationwide sales be made up of vehicles that run on electricity or hydrogen fuel cells. GM says a nationwide program modeled on such a requirement in California could result in 7 million electric vehicles, or EVs, on U.S. roads by 2030. California wants 15.4 percent of vehicle sales by 2025 to be EVs or other zero emission vehicles. Nine other states, including Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, have adopted those requirements. In January, California Governor Jerry Brown set a target of 5 million zero-emission vehicles in California by 2030. The Trump administration criticizes California's ZEV mandate, saying it requires automakers to spend tens of billions of dollars developing vehicles that most consumers do not want, only to sell them at a loss. Reuss told reporters that governments and industries in Asia and Europe "are working together to enact policies now to hasten the shift to an all-electric future. It's very simple: America has the opportunity to lead in the technologies of the future." A national mandate also would create jobs and reduce fuel consumption, CO2 emissions and "make EVs more affordable," Reuss added. GM, the nation's largest automaker, will spell out the request Friday in written comments on a Trump administration proposal to roll back Obama-era fuel economy and emissions standards, freezing them at 2020 levels instead of gradually making them tougher. Under a regulation finalized by the Environmental Protection Agency at the end of the Obama administration, the fleet of new automobiles would have to get 36 miles per gallon by 2025, 10 mpg higher than the current requirement. But the Trump administration's preferred plan is to freeze the standards starting in 2021. Administration officials say waiving the tougher fuel efficiency requirements would make vehicles more affordable, which would get safer cars into consumer hands more quickly. GM on Thursday said it doesn't support the freeze, but wants flexibility to deal with consumers' shift from cars to less-efficient SUVs and trucks.
Cadillac: The standard of what?
Fri, Jul 28 2017Cadillac's tagline "Standard of the World" goes back to 1908 when it won the Dewar Trophy. While you might think that the moniker and the trophy have something to do with a feat of racing and daring-do against a cadre of British, French, and German marques, it's nothing of the sort. Rather, Cadillac achieved the trophy because of interchangeable parts. The parts they were producing back then were so well-made that Henry Leland, who established Cadillac, was able to disassemble three Model Ks, mix up the parts, and then put together three functioning cars. This amazed the Brits who handed him the trophy, and the "Standard of the World" was born. During the past several months, Cadillac has been producing news releases that would seem as though the company is the Standard of the World: "Cadillac Global Sales Rise 44.2 percent in January ... 18 percent in February ... 22.1 percent in March. . .40.9 percent in April ... 33.8 percent in May ... 7.2 percent in June." Like the Dewar Trophy being about manufacturing not performance, things are not necessarily what they seem. That is, Cadillac's growth is predicated on performance in China, not in the US. Through June, its China sales are 80,357 vehicles for the first five months of 2017, versus 72,073 in the US. The China number is a 75.4-percent year-over-year increase while the US number is a 1.6-percent decrease. For the entire globe, Cadillac has sold 164,174 vehicles. Of them, 65,250 were the XT5. That was followed by the ATS, at 34,277 units. In the US, the XT5 is doing reasonably well, as it has moved 29,798 units during the first six months. The ATS, conversely, is doing not particularly well, as it is down 26.2 percent with sales at just 7,209 for the year so far. To put that into some sort of context, know that Cadillac has sold 7,370 copies of the generally derided XTS, which is down 24.7 percent. The CTS is down 36 percent at 5,059 units, and the only other car in the lineup (we'll pretend that the ELR doesn't exist anymore and it shortly won't), the CT6 sedan, is up 172.7 percent – but they have sold only 5,397 CT6s. While Caddy talks a good game about competing with the likes of the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes E-Class, know that those two sedans have been sold 17,036 and 20,783 times this year in the US respectively. So what is Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen to do? According to Reuters, it is to cull the lineup.
