1976 Cadillac Eldorado Base Convertible 2-door 8.2l on 2040-cars
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States
Up for auction is my 1976 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. Triple black with only 94,000 miles. Very original survivor. This Eldo isn't much different than it was 38 years ago when it was sitting on the showroom floor of a Cadillac dealer. I bought this Caddy last summer. I never met the original owner. It was represented by the owner of the garage that has serviced this Eldo for at least the last 30 years. As far as the story goes this car has never been stored. Just garaged kept and easily driven an avg. of only 2500 miles a year. The owner just got to old to keep driving it and finally decided to sell it. When I bought it it had a brand new PA inspection sticker on it. It is still valid and only has about 800 miles since it was put on. The paint is original except the hood was re sprayed about 10 years ago. The hood looks great the rest could use a good detail but still looks pretty good. The black leather interior also still looks very good. Back seat is in great condition. The drivers seat has a small tear in the lower part of the back. Pretty darn good for a 38 year old convertible. Chrome all looks good, wheels are great looking, tires look close to new. The fillers are showing their age, not completely gone but should be replaced. Door panels look great. A couple of small cracks in the dash. The roof isn;t new, not sure if it is original or not. Not ripped up or torn. Boot is good. Roof motor works. One of the cross bars is disengaged. I have only had it down. With a second person you can get it up and down. On my list to get fixed. Starts right up. Runs good. In the shop now getting a valve cover gasket replaced and some new belts installed. Tranny shifts as it should. The windows work. The original radio does not. Air wasn't blowing cold. I haven't had any of the issues diagnosed. After the long winter here in Pgh, I just got it out of the garage last week. I bought this Eldo to keep and drive. Long story short, my daughter got engaged last fall and will be married this fall. The bills are starting to pile up and need to be paid some how. I have a few of my small collection for sale and don't know yet if I have to sell all of them. You know we got her through college and I thought I could finally spend some money on myself. Oh well. Either way, these cars are rare and getting rare each year. If you are local come on by and check it out. Thanks. Email with any questions.

Brock Lesnar does M. Bison impression on Cadillac CTS
Fri, Jul 10 2015There's no doubt that a huge amount of physicality is required to survive night after night in the ring as a professional wrestler. Conversely, the storylines that tie all the action together are as staged as any soap opera. However, there's nothing fake about watching two axes being embedded in a Cadillac CTS by WWE wrestler Brock Lesnar. Lesnar's prodigious brawn was really putting this luxury sedan out of its misery, though. With matte black stripes on the hood, fake fender vents, camouflage along the side, and a decal proclaiming "Redneck" on the windshield, this particular Cadillac was far from the standard of the world. In favor of the CTS' build quality, Lesnar's hatchets didn't immediately do quite as much damage as you might expect, and he had to take several swings to achieve the destruction here. If you think that destroying a sedan one piece at a time sounds like something from a video game, you aren't alone. Someone else noticed a definite similarity to the bonus round from Street Fighter 2 where you get points for beating up a car at the dockside until it falls apart. Appropriate sound effects were even added, but having Lesnar throw a few pixelated fireballs would have been a nice inclusion, too. For the significantly longer, original version, check out the one embedded below. After Lesnar crushes the CTS, the actual wrestling does eventually ensue. The Caddy even briefly acts as a prop for some of the action.
Chip Foose is bringing life to a Cadillac sketch from 1935
Sun, Aug 7 2016General Motors, automotive home of Harley Earl, was a pioneer in the early days of car design. But for as many wild concept cars and even production cars as the company's studio created, there were still many that never got off the paper. Chip Foose is working to change the fate of one of those designs. According to Foose Design, Chip Foose's latest project is based on a sketch from 1935. Car dealer Wes Rydell and his wife Vivian commissioned a custom Cadillac coupe that was sketched out by GM designer Art Ross. It would take an existing Cadillac sedan, shorten it, lower it and give it a removable hardtop. The drawing is as far as the project got. Now Chip Foose is working on realizing the design in real life using a 1939 Cadillac Series 60 Sedan. He plans to follow the initial design brief, but with his own unique touches. He has also named the project "Madam X" in honor of what Harley Earl would call client projects. It is scheduled to be finished and ready for unveiling at the end of the summer. Foose is a well-known designer who has won some of America's most prestigious custom car awards such as the Ridler Award and designed vehicles for the TV show Overhaulin'. The final product should be quite a striking machine. You can see how it's coming along, as well as Foose's sketch of what the car will finally look like, in the gallery above. Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017
Tue, Feb 17 2015Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
