1960 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham - 1 0f 101 Built - All Original Survivor - Rare! on 2040-cars
Scottsdale, Arizona, United States
This is a mostly all original, ultra rare 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham in excellent, well preserved condition inside and out. This is one the rarest Cadillac's ever built as it is #63 of only 101 Broughams ever built in 1960 and one of only 200 built in its two year production run. There are only half believed to exist today. This limited production Cadillac sold for a lofty $13,075 when new, the Eldorado Biarritz convertible sold for only $7,400 new. The Brougham wasn't even made in America. Pinin Farina built the bodies in Turin, Italy, for installation on a stock chassis shipped from Detroit. This beauty has been well taken care of all its life and it shows! It is a 43K original mile car that is mostly all original except for some of the interior. It was originally ordered by Standard Oil chairman Jack Rathbone Jr. It has spent most of its life in southern California and still has its original California black plates on the car that were last registered in 1973. I purchased the car recently out of a large car collection in southern California where it was stored for years. Prior to that is was donated years ago to the Peterson Automotive museum in Los Angles, CA, where it spent over a decade of its life. These cars were completely loaded from the factory. It has its original 390ci 345hp tri-power engine, factory air conditioning and full air ride suspension that is still fully intact and functional on this car. After many years of storage we did a complete tune up, drained the old gas and went through the brakes. It is now a great running and driving car. Amazing everything still works in the car except the clock. Even the A/C kicks on but needs a charge of Freon. It was ordered in Black, which is one of the rarest and prettiest colors offered in the Brougham, which this is 1 of 30 built in this color!! This is a super rare and desirable car in this original condition. This is the car to have if you want to feel like an instant celebrity. It's the ultimate cruiser and it gets more attention and appreciation than any exotic or new luxury car could ever get. This Black beauty is a rolling testament to the glitz, glamour, innovation, and prosperity of the 1950's and 1960?s! It's loaded with the following equipment:
This 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham has been very well preserved all its life. It is completely original on the exterior with all original paint. The original paint shined up very nicely after fully detailing it, after its many years of storage. It looks great but shows its age upon close inspection. It was painted in lacquer from the factory and has a lot of lacquer checking in the finish. To be perfect again it would need a complete paint job but if you're a stickler for originality it can be kept the way it is and it has a lot of character to it. Shows that this car withstood the test of time. This is an original California black plate car that retains all its original sheet metal and is almost completely rust free and solid as rock. The only rust in the car is on the bottom of the right front fender, which is just starting and very minor. The floors and the rest of the car are dry as a bone. Believe it or not, all the chrome and trim on this car and is completely original and in excellent condition. This car was kept inside and treated as a true Collector Car should be! It is super straight down the sides. This Cadillac again only has 43,000 Original Documented miles. These Cadillac Broughams don?t get offered for sale much. Don't miss this chance, Bid Now! It has a beautiful mostly all original, blue broadcloth interior in it that looks amazing! The only thing that has been replaced on the interior is the carpet and the front seat was redone in the original NOS material. Absolutely everything works in the car except the clock. All the chrome and trim on the dash is bright and clean as new. The dash pad is excellent with a perfect steering wheel. Inside the trunk is all original with its original trunk material, spare and jack. Mechanically, the engine and transmission runs excellent! This Cadillac drives with no issues at all! The original numbers matching 390ci motor provides great power to move this little diamond around. The car fires right up and runs excellent. Driving down the road there are no squeaks or rattles and that's wonderful coming from a 50 plus year old car. Every option and or function works as it should. The engine compartment is all stock and original right down to the original hood insulation. I went through the whole brake system, fuel system and a complete tune up. It even has a new exhaust system on it. The original air ride suspension is still intact and in working order. It is alittle slow going up and does loose air after sitting. I would say the system would need to be gone through to work perfectly. The air conditioning kicks on but needs to be charged and serviced. The car is an absolute pleasure to drive. Fire her up and she's ready to cruise. All and all, this 1960 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham is one of the absolute rarest classic Cadillac's ever built! With Top Notch Quality and one of the highest mechanical Standards this car makes a wonderful choice. What a rare opportunity such a rare and original car. I even have all its original owners manuals and owner protect policy book. If you have any additional questions please Call Jimmy at 608-215-8300 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. Cool car technology is cool until it breaks
Fri, Mar 27 2015Ah, technology – the beautiful date that impresses all your friends but costs you a fortune to keep happy, up-to-date, and working. Automotive News puts some numbers to the economic toll we're paying to jockey this technological Trojan horse, an analysis it sums up with "Technology is great - until you have to replace it." Back in 2000, for instance, you could replace a Cadillac Escalade taillight lens for $56.08, or replace the entire unit for $220.49. Crack the rear lens on your 2015 Escalade and you have to buy a new unit for $795 - there's no such thing as just replacing a lens anymore. What about headlights? It was $210 for an Escalade headlight in 2000, it's $1,650 for the current unit (pictured). This is nothing we didn't know, these are just hard numbers to demonstrate it. Edmunds recently provided the same with its sledgehammer-bashing of the 2015 Ford F-150, Tesla Model S buyers have been shrieking about repair costs to their electric sedan's all-aluminum bodywork, and used-car sites are full of articles about which expensive-to-repair features to steer clear of if you want to avoid big repair bills. Those expensive bits increase the price of a car - Kelley Blue Book says the average price of a car is now more than $33,000 - and that raises rates for repairs and insurance. This comes in spite of some carmakers that have been collaborating with insurance companies and repair shops at the design stage in order to engineer parts that are easier and less expensive to replace. But the tech can have its cost-saving benefits: a 2011 study by the Highway Loss Data Institute found that Volvos fitted with that company's City Safety feature "filed 27 percent fewer property-damage liability claims" than luxury SUVs without it, and just last month the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety called adaptive headlights one of the top four crash-preventing technologies on cars today (after coming out against them in 2006). So yes, the technology costs a mint when it needs to be fixed - but being able to avoid an accident in the first place might make it worth it. Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?
Thu, Jun 23 2016The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose! Cadillac ATS to go racing in 2015 as CTS.V.R replacement
Thu, 21 Aug 2014Cadillac has been racking up victories with the CTS.V.R in Pirelli World Challenge racing for two model generations now, including recent GT class championships in 2012 and 2013. However, even winning racers eventually have to retire, and it looks like the CTS may be taking a bow at the end of the season. In its place, Caddy is reportedly working on a new racecar based on the ATS Coupe, and it might even get to compete internationally.
According to Racer, Pratt & Miller Engineering is leading the development and is already lapping the ATS racecar in Michigan for testing. It reportedly drops the CTS' V8 in favor of a twin-turbocharged V6 powering the rear wheels. Since this is the same team behind the hugely successful Corvette Racing program and the current CTS.V.R, the latest car appears to be in good hands.
The new model would also adhere to GT3 rules, according to Racer, and that might signal a big change for Cadillac's motorsports program. It means that the ATS could be sold to teams in the numerous series around the world that accept these vehicles. That would broaden the luxury coupe's exposure and put it up against GT3 racecars from premium brands, like Bentley, Porsche and McLaren. If it wins, the change could be a marketing bonanza for the brand.
