As far as I am concerned, the 1966 Deville is one of the most beautiful cars ever produced.  If you have never really taken a good look at the dashboard and instrumentation of the 1966 Deville I urge you to do so, and take some time with it.  The materials used are of the highest quality and the design is such a spectacular combination of vintage bezeled gauges, brushed stainless and clean lines that the first time I saw it I really thought it was a custom treatment.  Just ponder the passenger side of the dashboard and tell me that it doesn't look as modern as anything on the road, but without a pesky airbag to fill up that incredible concave sweep into the meeting of the dash and door edge.  It is clear how someone back in 1966 would feel limitless pride at driving one of these beauties off the dealer lot and calling it their own.

It was love at first sight for me, and I told myself I would never be without a 1966 Deville (coupe or sedan) in my collection.  This beautiful silver coupe Deville with 86,250 miles is one of two that I currently own.  I've included photos of the itemized repairs performed by the previous owner just before I purchased the car.  It was a very thorough going over and totalled about $3400, which included brakes from pedal to wheel, alternator, belts, carb rebuild, gas tank sealed and recoated inside, new distributor, thermostat, tune up, bulbs, ignition wires, new ball joints, undercoating and transmission service.   I have also made my own improvements.  I purchased four new whitewall tires, had an electronic ignition conversion professionally installed and replaced the power antenna.  Documentation on other work performed much earlier in the car's history is also included.  The plastic seat covers were added on September 9, 1978 and are a kitchy addition to the car's charm.  I considered removing them, but they are in such nice shape it seemed a shame to do so.  And you'll never worry about getting anything on the seats, because it just wipes off!

I have put about 1,200 miles on the car during my ownership and it has been a joy to drive and proof why Cadillac was once the gold standard of the automotive world.  I have my Deville advertised elsewhere as well, so that I may end this listing early if an acceptable offer of purchase or trade is made.  I am a big fan of late '60's and early '70's Mopar products as well.  Thank you for your interest.

Super Bowl LVII car commercial roundup: Watch them all here

Mon, Feb 13 2023

Fewer automakers than usual spent money advertising during Super Bowl LVII. In total, there were only five traditional ad spots from three big OEMs. A number of car-adjacent ads aired during the Big Game, too, and we’ll bring you those ads in this roundup alongside the more obvious ones. WeÂ’ve compiled all of the automotive-related commercials for you here in this post so you donÂ’t have to go searching for them elsewhere. Read on below to see what aired as the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles. Ram's Super Bowl spot offers a cure for 'Premature Electrification' This commercial revealed the new electric Ram Rev pickup, and itÂ’s themed like a prescription ad for an antidote to "Premature Electrification.” A concerned narrator in the Ram spot asks if you're afraid that going electric too soon will mean "you might not be able to last as long as you like," and there's a guy on a pier who's going to need some new equipment if he wants to catch fish. We're also told there are "options being designed to extend range in satisfying ways," so if this truck isn't right for you, you have choices. All the commercial's missing is a silly medical marketing name and six seconds of speed-reading gibberish about side effects like intestinal bleeding and death. Which are two more good things. Jeep 4xe Super Bowl commercial highlights modern version of 'Electric Boogie' JeepÂ’s “Electric Boogie” commercial follows the Wrangler 4xe and Grand Cherokee 4xe in a variety of simulated off-road situations. Though fun, the soundtrack is the real star of the show. The songÂ’s original artist, Marcia Griffiths, was joined by Grammy winner Shaggy, Jamila Falak, Amber Lee, and Moyann on the track. The modernized re-recording celebrates 40 years since GriffithsÂ’ original track, and Jeep says the track is available for streaming now. Kia returns to the Super Bowl with the tale of 'Binky Dad' This year, Kia follows the adventure of "Binky Dad" in his quest to fetch his daughter's lost pacifier, which naturally takes him over just about every bit of terrain you might encounter upon leaving the civilized confines of Southern California for the not-so-civilized mountains of ... probably also California. It features the refreshed 2023 Kia Telluride, which probably doesnÂ’t need much advertising to see these days, but Kia went for it with the strong three-row SUV anyway.

De Nysschen says Cadillac will be ready for a $250,000 model in 15 years

Fri, Nov 21 2014

Cadillac president Johan de Nysschen has some very, very lofty goals for the American luxury car manufacturer. That's according to a new report from Reuters, where the former Audi and Infiniti exec says that Cadillac is only 15 years away from selling a $250,000 car. "It is too early today for a $250,000 Cadillac," de Nysschen told Reuters at the LA Auto Show. "Fifteen years from now, it won't be." Now, provided de Nysschen doesn't envision a future of hyper-inflation, where an ATS rings up at $200K and a CTS at $225,000, the idea that Cadillac could sell a car worth a quarter-of-a-million dollars in just 15 short years is the very definition of ambitious. That's doubly true when you realize that, at present, Cadillac's most expensive vehicle is the Escalade ESV Platinum, which costs no more than $97,940, while de Nysschen said the upcoming CT6 sedan will be priced "in the 70s." What do you think? Could a Cadillac that costs well over twice as much as the brand's most expensive current vehicle be a reality in the distant future? Or is de Nysschen aiming too high too soon? Let us know what you think in Comments. News Source: ReutersImage Credit: Jae C. Hong / AP Cadillac Luxury cadillac ct6

Cadillac can't keep up with Escalade demand, can't move its sedans

Wed, Feb 11 2015

No matter how much Cadillac revitalizes its lineup and its image, it seems that all consumers want is the Escalade. In fact, Automotive News reports that General Motors can't keep up with demand for the fullsize luxury SUV, despite sticker prices that start at over $70,000 and approach six figures at the top end of the spectrum. Contrast that with sedans like the ATS and CTS, which are far cheaper but which Cadillac hasn't been able to move fast enough to keep up with production, prompting both the manufacturer and dealers to offer substantial incentives to keep them from piling up. Cadillac had been resisting a price cut of the ATS or CTS, lest it hurt resale values – itself a factor that could explain consumers' reluctance to buy them in the first place – but been offering subsidized leases, discounted financing, rebates and cheaper options. Combined with incentives from individual dealers, according to AN, buyers can be looking at five-figure discounts on buying a new Cadillac sedan. And now, finally, it seems the CTS will indeed get a little bit off its bottom line. Yet GM has been producing the ATS and CTS at rates that their sales can't keep up with. The automaker was forced to idle the plant in Lansing, MI, where it assembles the ATS and CTS for six weeks starting this past December. And since it reopened late in January, it's been reduced to a single shift as dealers try to move the metal they've already got. Meanwhile the plant in Arlington, TX, that produces the Escalade and its Chevy and GMC siblings has been running on overtime, with three shifts throughout the week and even into the weekend to keep up with demand. Profitable as it's been for Cadillac and GM, though, the Escalade does not represent the future of where it wants to take the brand - separating the Escalade as almost a brand unto itself that's been left out of the company's new naming scheme. If only it could make its sedans as successful as its fullsize SUVs, it'll be all set.
