Cadillac developing stretched ATS-L just for China

To luxury automakers, long-wheelbase sedans are to China that crossovers and SUVs are to the US, so it isn't all that surprising any more when the latest sedan gets an extra couple of inches between the wheels to improve rear-seat comfort. According to Car News China, the next sedan to get the stretch will be the Cadillac ATS, which will increase the wheelbase by 10 centimeters (about four inches) to become the ATS-L.
Designed to go up against rivals like the BMW 335Li and the added-length Mercedes C-Class, the ATS-L will reportedly be built locally in China with an engine list that will grow as well. Currently, only the 2.0-liter turbo engine is offered in the ATS in China, but the ATS-L will get the full spectrum of ATS engines including the base 2.5-liter and the peppier 3.6-liter V6. This isn't the first time Cadillac has offered a China-specific stretched sedan either as the SLS dates back to 2006.

2017 Cadillac XT5 shows off its new metal in LA

Cadillac is in the midst of a comprehensive production overhaul, and few of its new arrivals will be as pivotal as the new XT5. Replacing the old SRX, the XT5 was revealed in the metal here on the floor of the 2015 LA Auto Show. Joining the new CT6 under Caddy's new naming scheme, the XT5 represents GM's assault on German competition like the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes GLC, Japanese rivals like the Lexus RX, Infiniti QX50, and Acura RDX, and its own cross-town nemesis, the Lincoln MKX. And to better fend off their advances, the new XT5 promises marked improvements over its predecessor in every way. The model you see here is, to our eyes, handsomer than the model it replaces, adopting the Art & Science brand's latest design cues. It offers a fresh cabin space loaded with the latest equipment. And it weighs a solid 278 pounds less than the outgoing SRX. Power still comes from a 3.6-liter V6, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with available all-wheel drive. 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque keep it going, which ought to help it keep pace with the competition. 2015 Cadillac ATS, CTS recalled over brake issue

A problem with the brakes on the 2015 ATS and CTS has prompted Cadillac to issue a recall. According to the notice below from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the issue revolves around the bracket that connects the brake pedal assembly and the rod that actuates the brakes. Even under normal operation, that bracket could fracture, impeding the ability to slow or stop the vehicle. That, as you're surely aware, could increase the risk of a crash. The issue affects a reported 2,163 vehicles in the United States. Owners will need to be bring their vehicles in to their local dealership to have those brackets replaced starting on August 1. CONSEQUENCE: If the bracket fractures, the driver would not be able to apply the brakes, increasing the risk of a crash. REMEDY: GM will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace any affected bracket, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin August 1, 2015.
