Here is very nice 1975 Cadillac Coupe Deville. This car is in great shape, with low miles. I want to start off by saying that if anyone has any questions, or would like to come see the car, please contact me via ebay, or by telephone. I would like anyone who is interested in this car to feel confident if they decide to purchase it. This is an excellent example of a classic Caddy. This car also has many new parts, and some interesting extras included with it, which we will get into in a bit. Ok, with all that being said, lets get into the specifics about this great car.
- First, if you need more pictures, please go to Flickr.com, and go to caprala23's photo page. I got about 100 more pictures of the car on there, Ebay won't allow the link...
- 3 owner car, 66,000 original miles.
- No accidents, no smoking.
- Car is rot free, underside is immaculate. Interior is in excellent condition.
- BODY: The body is in great shape front to back. The car has seen a re-paint once, about 8 years ago. The paint job is decent, not show quality, but very presentable. There are a couple tiny chips here and there, but its only in the top coat. There is a very small, nickel-sized rust spot from paint peeling above a piece of the rocker trim. That's the only rust on the whole car. All the chrome is shiney, and in great shape, Bumpers, trim, all very nice. This Caddy has the Cabriolet package, which includes a vinyl half-top with special trim, and a see-through chrome hood ornament. Vinyl roof was re-done same time as paint. Floors, roof, trunk floor, frame, doors, and hood are solid as a rock.
- INTERIOR: The interior is above-average, and fantastic. It's tan, and features the very 70's Maharajah fabric pattern. You don't see this kind of pattern on anything anymore, especially cars. Everything is all original, and in great shape. The headliner, steering wheel, rear dash, and seats are perfect. The carpet is a little sun faded in some areas, due to age, and there is a tiny crack in the side of the dashboard. Everything else is near perfect.
- UNDERHOOD: Under the hood is the original 8.2L 500 c.i.d. engine. Runs great, and starts 1st time every time. Everything is still intact. The engine bay has been cleaned, and detailed. Air Conditioning is still intact, but not working. Convert it to R134A, and you'll be good to go.
- OPTIONS: This Cadillac is equipped with many power options, as a Caddy should be. Options include; Power windows, locks, seats and antenna. Also has cruise control, air conditioning, automatic headlights, tilt and telescoping steering column, 3-speed windsheild wipers, and power trunk pull-down.
- EXTRAS: Car comes with some great extras. Included is a COMPLETE REAR BODY FILLER KIT. This includes taillight surroundings, and rubber fillers for both sides. I would like to note that- these are not re-production pieces, they are original GM parts, and anyone who knows about Caddys, knows that these are like $400 for a re-production kit, and that originals are impossible to find. Ones on the car are perfect now, these are to have for spare, or use on your other Deville you got sitting around! ALSO INCLUDED, is all the original Maintenance Schedule, Consumer Information, Owners Manual, and heres the best part, included is a 24-page full-color Cadillac Options and Availability brochure for 1975. This is a very rare piece of literature to have. Would look great in the rear dash at a car show. This booklet includes; Color choices, Interior patterns, Model Availability, Specs, and just about anything you would have needed to know before you purchased your brand new 1975 Cadillac!
- NEW PARTS/WORK: Recent work includes; Complete engine tune-up; plugs, wires, dist.cap, and rotor, and Lucas oil change. Carb clean and adjust, along with a new fuel filter, New valve cover gaskets, Transmission filter, fluid, pan gasket, and tailshaft seal. New heater blower motor, New LH side exhaust manifold, and new manifold gaskets on both sides. All vacuum hoses have been replaced, new master cylinder, new belts, and all underhood wires have been cleaned, and tested. New front brake calipers, and new fuel hoses that go from sending unit to fuel lines. All ground connections have also been checked and cleaned.
- NEEDS: OK, 1st, let me just say, this car doesn't ''need'' anything to make it a great, running and driving dependable classic car. These are just some things that would make it better. Springs and shocks all around. The car doesn't bounce around or anything, but the springs are original, so its probably time to replace them, and why not do the shocks while your at it? As i mentioned before, the A/C needs some attention, basically just a retro-fit.
- NOT WORKING: The things not working are very minimal. There are a few light bulbs out in the speedo cluster in the dash. The power antenna works when it wants to, and the power trunk pull-down works, but not properly. Maybe someone with more knowledge of these can make it work right? The radio works, but there are a few speakers out.
- MY AUCTIONS RULES/GUIDELINES/PAYMENT: PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU DO NOT PLAN ON PURCHASING AND FOLLOWING THROUGH. BID TO OWN. Contact me with any questions you have before bidding. A $500 non-refundable deposit will be made by winning bidder within 48 hours of auctions end via PAYPAL. The remaining balance will be paid within 10 DAYS, and in CASH. NO CHECKS, NO MONEY ORDERS, OR ANY OTHER FORMS OF PAYMENT. If you insist on paying full amount with paypal, then YOU will be responsible for paying the paypal fees that will occur, NOT ME. If you need to have the car shipped, I will assist in any way I can to make it a easy, smooth transaction.

Junkyard Gem: 1997 Cadillac Catera
Sun, Jun 16 2024GM's Cadillac Division was having a tough time in the early 1990s, with an onslaught of Lexuses and Infinitis pouring across the Pacific to steal their younger customers while high-end German manufacturers picked off their older customers. Flying an S-Class-priced model between assembly lines in Turin and Hamtramck hadn't worked out, so why not look to the European outposts of the far-flung GM Empire for the next Cadillac? That's how the Catera was born, and I have found a rare first-year example in a North Carolina car graveyard. Across the Atlantic, GM's Opel and Vauxhall were doing good business with prosperous European car buyers by selling them the sleek rear-wheel-drive Omega B (whose platform also lived beneath the Holden VT Commodore in Australia). Here was a genuine German design that competed with success against BMW and Audi on their home turf! So, the Omega B was Americanized and renamed the Catera. Opel wasn't a completely unknown brand to Americans at the time, since its cars were sold here with their own badging through Buick dealerships from the middle 1950s through the late 1970s (for a much shorter period, American Pontiac dealers attempted to sell Vauxhalls). Even after that, plenty of Opel DNA showed up in the products of U.S.-market GM divisions. The Catera was by far the most affordable Cadillac for 1997, with an MSRP starting at $29,995 (about $59,113 in 2024 dollars). Being a genuine German car, it looked much more convincingly European than the DeVille ($36,995), Eldorado ($37,995) and Seville ($39,995). Inspired by the ducks on the Cadillac emblem (they were really supposed to be martlets, mythical birds with no feet and occasionally lacking beaks), Cadillac's marketers went after youthful car shoppers with a whimsical animated duck named Ziggy. For the 21st century, the birds were removed from the Cadillac emblem in order to attract California buyers under 45 years of age. As we all know, the Catera flopped hard in the marketplace. What sold well in Europe turned out not to translate so well in in North America, especially when bearing the badges of such a historically prestigious brand. The Catera's engine was a 54-degree 3.0-liter V6 rated at 200 horsepower and 192 pound-feet. Just as had been the case with its predecessor, the Allante, no manual transmission was available.
Cadillac ELR regen on demand brakes win 2014 Green Car Technology award
Wed, Jan 22 2014Just like the Oscars, Green Car Journal decided a few years ago to up the number of nominees for its annual award. For the annual "Green Car of the Year" award, given out at the Los Angeles Auto Show each year, there are five finalists. For the "Green Car Technology" award, there are a fantastic ten. At the 2014 Washington Auto Show today, the Cadillac ELR and its regen on demand brakes managed to beat out the nine other finalists to claim the second annual "Green Car Technology" award. What is the purpose of the "Green Car Technology" award? Green Car Journal says it wants to reward "technologies that enable significantly improved environmental performance in vehicles today," which is why only fuel-saving technologies that were "in use on American highways during the award year" can be considered. The Caddy's brakes beat out the Acura Sport Hybrid SH-AWD powertrain, the Audi 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine, the BMW carbon-fiber passenger shell from the i3, the 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine used by Ford, the plug-in hybrid powertrain in the Honda Accord, Hyundai's hydrogen fuel cell technology, the regenerative brakes in the Mazda i-ELOOP, the plug-in hybrid powertrain used in some Porsche models and, finally, the Ram 3.0-Liter EcoDiesel engine. Last year, Green Car Journal gave Mazda's Skyactiv technology the inaugural Green Car Technology award. Cadillac ELR Regen On Demand Wins 2014 Green Car Technology Award Green Car Journal Lauds Cadillac's Electric Car Tech at Washington Auto Show WASHINGTON, Jan. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Cadillac's innovative Regen on Demand technology has taken top honors as the winner of Green Car Journal's 2014 Green Car Technology Award™. The prestigious award was presented at a Green Car Journal press conference during the Washington Auto Show's second Policy Day. "Cadillac has cleverly evolved a common electric-drive efficiency system into an intriguing feature that adds a new dimension to the driving experience," said Ron Cogan, editor and publisher of Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com. "Ever-increasing efficiency is crucial to our driving future, yet efficiency itself is not an attraction for a great many car buyers.
Why Cadillac needs a real truck in its lineup
Mon, Aug 31 2015Premium brands such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, and Cadillac sell vehicles that cover the spectrum from car to crossover to SUV. But trucks? They remain the last frontier when it comes to luxury brands. These days Chevy, GMC, Ford, and Ram sell cheap, bare-bones work trucks alongside loaded models that top $75,000. There is a reverse elitism that comes with this sales tactic. A brand gets to reflect a rugged working class lifestyle with the emblem up front, while what's behind it costs as much as a small house in middle America. But Americans who spend big money on cars and SUVs have always gradually tailed towards luxury nameplates over time. Everyone knows what an Escalade is, and thanks in large part to that image the Escalade is now the best-selling fullsize luxury SUV in the USA. Cadillac's flagship model, along with its midsize luxury crossover, the SRX, routinely outsell the competition from Audi, Mercedes, and BMW, not to mention Ford's Lincoln brand and most of the Japanese rivals. With trucks already dominating overall sales and headed into the pricing stratosphere, I believe it's time for Cadillac to consider a fullsize truck. And no, not a lipstick version that merely takes a Chevrolet Silverado pickup and throws in a few leather seats and some slight interior touches. That experiment already failed both for Cadillac (the Escalade EXT) and for Ford's Lincoln brand (Blackwood, Mark LT). Cadillac is an American brand that currently focuses a ridiculous amount of energy and resources trying to compete with European car offerings. The brand needs to create the Cadillac of trucks. Head honcho Johan de Nysschen has been blunt in his desire to "restore Cadillac to the pinnacle of global premium brands, not in sales but in aspirational brand character." This sounds well and wonderful. But the present problem in achieving this goal is that, on a global basis, Cadillac is a failed brand. Look at Europe, where Cadillac has sold so poorly in recent years that former Soviet manufacturer Lada managed more new registrations in 2014 by a factor of more than four to one. Cadillac is an American brand that currently focuses a ridiculous amount of energy and resources trying to compete with European car offerings. After more than 20 years of Cadillac models selling themselves as import killers, the only one with sustained success has been the CTS, and even that has been a marketplace loser for the last several years. The CTS-V?
