1969 Cadillac Coupe DeVille

Offerred for sale is this very sharp luxury coupe. A desirable, all original Cadillac Coupe DeVille with a rare factory color combination - a gold exterior with a black vinyl top and black interior (with the premium fabric option for 1969).  Low original miles, three owner automobile.  The car has the very rare Protect O Plate (brand new condition) with pamphlet included.  Also included is the original Owner's Manual!  This nice automobile has all the power options for 1969; everything works well and it does have the climate control option.  The exterior looks great.  The paint appears to be mostly original and has only a few minor blemishes, such as small rock chips or very small scratches and has had minor touch ups done at one time, most nearly un-noticable.  The paint is pretty outstanding as-is.  Very nice, straight and shinny bumpers are in great condition.  The stainless trim, chrome and brightwork are also in great/excellent condition.  The tires are alsmost new.  The black vinyl top is in excellent shape.  The interior is in great condition throughout, except for the front seat, which needs some minor repair work (a couple of tired seams on the bench and side of vertical upright is split on the passenger side).  The dash is in great condition and there are no cracks.  The door panels, headliner, etc. are all in excellent condition and the same with the instrument panel.  Everything works, including the radio!  The carpet is in good condition and very clean.  The original floor mats are still in, and the same with the trunk mat!  The entire trunk area, including the spare tire look amazing. Overall, the interior is super nice and all original. The premium factory original 472 CU V8 engine (best engine available in 1969 according to the various litterature) starts and runs well.  The exhaust manifold gasket on the passenger side leaks and is a bit of a noise distraction, so the new owner would probably want to get that easy repair done.  A minor tune-up will go a long way towards getting the engine running like clockwork.  The turbo 400 automatic transmission shifts easily and very well.  The windshield and glass are in great condition.  Overall, this is a great looking, very presentable automobile which is a pleasure to drive.  It is not perfect by any means, but it is also a very, very nice classic and fully operable Cadillac.  Enjoy  it as-is either as a daily driver, on pleasure drives and take it to car shows or do as little or as much restoration work as you wish to get this iconic American automobile to the next level and/or back to its former glory.  Either way the new owner would be very pleased and proud to have this car in their collection.  You are welcome to come and inspect the car in person.

This car is attractively priced and offered with a low/reasonable reserve.  A deposit of $520 is due immediately upon end of Auction by winning bidder.  Winning bidder is responsible for all shipping/transportation arrangements and costs to their location.  Car is sold as-is, Sale is final; with no returns or refunds.  Please feel free to call with any questions.  Check my feedback, Bid with confidence.

Thanks for looking!

Cadillac confirms CT8/CT9 flagship, ELR successor

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

Cadillac has certainly been a hot topic as of late, what with Johan de Nysschen now running the joint, moving its headquarters to New York, and overhauling the company's naming structure (only to later publicly defend all of these drastic decisions). Now, looking ahead, de Nysschen is already revealing some details about what's in store for the future, including a raft of new products that include a large, long-wheelbase Mercedes-Benz S-Class rival positioned above the recently announced CT6, along with a successor to the slow-selling ELR coupe.
In an interview with Reuters, de Nysschen says his company has "just signed off on" a new flagship tipped to be called CT8 or CT9. It will compete with the long-wheelbase versions of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series, and should come to market by the end of this decade.
Among other news, the South African executive said a followup to the ELR plug-in hybrid is in development, though it may not be a two-door coupe like the current car. That's not necessarily a bad thing, since the ELR has garnered nothing but slow sales and poor reviews since its launch.

Junkyard Gem: 1998 Cadillac Catera

Wed, Dec 14 2016

A decade or so after Ford tried to swipe some US-market sales from European luxury marques by selling the German-built Ford Scorpio with Merkur badging, General Motors opted to sell the German-built Opel Omega luxury sedan as a Cadillac. The Catera was a reasonably nimble rear-wheel-drive sedan with a 200-horse DOHC V6 engine, and its badge-engineered nature made it a much less costly gamble than, say, the Cadillac Allante, which had its bodies built in Italy and flown to Michigan for assembly. Unfortunately, it had no manual transmission option, and Americans who remembered the miserable US-market Opels of the 1970s were put off by the Catera's Opelness. Its $29,995 list price was quite a bit cheaper than that of the (slightly less powerful) $39,800 BMW 528i and a bit less than the (slightly more powerful) $33,585 Acura 3.2 TL's cost, but the Catera didn't sell in large numbers. This one made it to a respectable mileage figure, and the nice interior shows that it was well-cared-for during its 18 years on the road. The ads for the Catera featured a cartoon duck named Ziggy. Fast, fun, fiendishly flexible! By 2000, Cadillac had ditched the duck and was touting the Catera's value. Related Video:

2017 Cadillac XT5 shows off its new metal in LA

Thu, Nov 19 2015

Cadillac is in the midst of a comprehensive production overhaul, and few of its new arrivals will be as pivotal as the new XT5. Replacing the old SRX, the XT5 was revealed in the metal here on the floor of the 2015 LA Auto Show. Joining the new CT6 under Caddy's new naming scheme, the XT5 represents GM's assault on German competition like the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Mercedes GLC, Japanese rivals like the Lexus RX, Infiniti QX50, and Acura RDX, and its own cross-town nemesis, the Lincoln MKX. And to better fend off their advances, the new XT5 promises marked improvements over its predecessor in every way. The model you see here is, to our eyes, handsomer than the model it replaces, adopting the Art & Science brand's latest design cues. It offers a fresh cabin space loaded with the latest equipment. And it weighs a solid 278 pounds less than the outgoing SRX. Power still comes from a 3.6-liter V6, paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with available all-wheel drive. 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque keep it going, which ought to help it keep pace with the competition. We're looking forward to seeing how it drives in due course, but in the meantime, you're invited to view our live photos from the floor of the Los Angeles Convention Center in the gallery above.
