1959 Cadillac Coupe De Ville on 2040-cars
Springfield, Ohio, United States
No car demands attention like the beautiful 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. In stunning glass-black paint with new black and white interior, the most desired color combination, this car is a true classic.
A recent frame on restoration has just been completed including: Paint -- The car was stripped to the bare metal and primed with Dupont 6155 Variprime self-etch primer. It was then coated with three coats of 33430 Dupont high build primer, sealed with 42470 Dupont sealer and then painted with Dupont Chrmopremiere black base coat. It was clear coated with three coats of Dupont 72500. I then sanded and buffed to a glass finish. This paint job is very high end with laser straight body work. Interior -- All new black molded carpet. The seats were covered in original "black-silver" fabric from S&S Fabrics. All new foam and burlap installed into the seats. This black and white interior looks and feels classy. Glass -- The glass is all original and in excellent condition. All of the power windows work excellently. Weather Strip -- All weather strips are new from Soft Seal. This includes the ones in the trunk, doors and roof rails. Engine Compartment -- The engine compartment is nicely detailed and original. The original 390 engine runs great and has a new water pump. All of the engine fluids have been changed. Trunk -- This has the original float mat, cardboard siding, spare tire, and jack assembly. The trunk floor is covered with 3m black, sound-deadening pads. Exhaust -- The exhaust is all new with aluminized pipe running through X frame. Stainless Steel Molding -- all have been removed from the car and polished to excellent condition. New molding clips were used to attach them back on to the car. Frame -- This is solid and in fantastic condition. Chrome Bumpers -- These are all original and in driver condition. They shine nicely but have some minor aging to them. Chrome door handles and mirrors are brand new. Fender Skirts -- These have new rubber moldings and have been repainted as well, although they were not on the car at the time of the pictures. They fit nicely and add to the overall classiness of the car. AM Radio -- This does work well, but the power antenna does not work. Tires -- These are all new 15 inch radial. Lights -- All work inside and out, including the turn signals. This 1959 Cadillac is a true collector's car and a great investment. The car is located in Springfield, Ohio and will be sold only as is/where is. The buyer is responsible for the pick-up. This is a very rare opportunity to get a car of this quality. No, Eminem is not giving away the Cadillac Ciel concept, Facebookers
Thu, Dec 4 2014Damn it, Facebook people, stop being so gullible. When you see something on social media that requires you to share or like a status or page in exchange for a chance at winning something, it's almost always a hoax. This goes for iPads, or Bill Gates giving away cash or, yes, an Eminem fan page giving away a Cadillac Ciel. Now, normally we'd simply ignore this utter hogwash, but it's getting some traction on Facebook and, annoyingly, is beginning to clog our newsfeed. Ignoring the fact that the Ciel is a pure concept car that likely can't even be registered for regular use, there are more than a few things that should give this nonsense away as a hoax. First, Eminem has only ever gotten in bed with one automaker – Chrysler. It seems unlikely that he'd defect simply to give away a car on Facebook. Secondly, the page that is putting on the giveaway isn't even a verified page – Eminem's real Facebook fan page has 97 million likes, this one has 622,000. Third, a quick look at the caption for the Ciel's photo, shown above, reveals the sort of grammatical mess that no serious contest would allow. Take a look (sic implied throughout): "Only 24 Days Until Christmas, Can you Imagine yourself driving this Car? I'm about to make that happen, Its Official, I Will be giving away this 2014 Cadillac Ciel to one random lucky fan, all you gotta do is follow these three easy steps, Step 1) Share this photo, Step 2) Like my page, Slim Shady Step 3) Like this photo, Winner Will be picked On December 5th 4 Days Away, Good luck to Everyone!!" We reached out to Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell just for fun. Apparently, this photo and schtick pops up every few months with virtually the same text, only to vanish at the end of the "giveaway." You're as shocked as we are, right? So, once again folks, just because it's on the Internet doesn't mean it's true. If your friends, family and acquaintances are blowing up your Facebook feed and social network channels with this nonsense, be sure to set 'em straight with a link to this story – we're sure the real Slim Shady will appreciate it.
Cadillac won't replace XTS after 2019
Mon, Apr 6 2015Cadillac wouldn't be Cadillac without a large sedan, but the definition of just which model fits that bill changed last week. Before the New York Auto Show, that role fell to the XTS. After the New York Auto Show, though, the focus shifted to the CT6. So what's to become of the XTS now that the CT6 has emerged? According to the latest intel, it'll live out the rest of its lifecycle until around 2019, but then drive off to its own funeral like so many limousines and hearses that were built off its platform. This was learned based on comments made by Cadillac chief Johan de Nysschen at the closed-door unveiling of the CT6 in Manhattan: "Ultimately, a car like XTS when it reaches the end of its lifecycle, will not be replaced." That'll be bad news for the livery business that – in the post-Town Car era – has come to rely on the XTS as the basis for its stretch jobs. "We will not have a car that will lend itself to these kind of modifications and we will probably withdraw from those markets," de Nysschen told GM Inside News. That's not all the new Cadillac boss had to say, though: he also indicated that the replacements for the ATS and CTS will be positioned differently from the current models: "As we move into the future refining our sedan portfolio, there will be no direct successor to the CTS. There will be no direct successor to the ATS. There is no point to renaming those cars because in the future those cars will disappear." Based on Johan's comments and those we've heard until now, we'd expect the replacement for the ATS to move down a size to take on the likes of the Audi A3 and Mercedes CLA, and the CTS' successor to move down half a size class as well to give the new CT6 a bit more breathing room, and possibly an even larger flagship sedan to be positioned above them all. GM cutting production at two plants
Thu, Feb 26 2015General Motors is continuing to adjust to excess supply of some of its brands' models. To get production more in line with the vehicles' actual demand, the automotive giant is idling two of its factories in North America in the coming months. The Orion Assembly plant is going to be down from March 9-13, according to an anonymous plant worker and another insider speaking to Automotive News. The factory builds the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, but there are plenty of both models sitting on dealer lots, including 216 days worth of Sonics, according to AN. The factory already had two idle periods announced to reduce the excess. In addition, downtime is scheduled at GM's "Flex" line at the Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, plant from April 13-17. This affects supply of the Chevrolet Camaro, Impala, Buick Regal and Cadillac XTS. Among them, the automotive giant has the largest supply of Regals ready for dealers with 213 days worth of them, according to AN. The future for the whole Oshawa factory is cloudy in general, though. There are rumors that it could close entirely in the future because the Camaro is leaving and the Regal and XTS might not last much longer than 2017. The Canadian government and the labor union there intend to put up a fight, though.
